A Day For Daisies Surprise Blog Hop

As many of you know,  A Day For Daisies has some of the most GORGEOUS digital images out there.  I was over the moon thrilled to be asked to participate in a special surprise blog hop dedicated to Tammy, the creator of A Day For Daisies images.  The current and some of the past Design Team members want to show our gratitude and thank Tammy for the blessings and joys we have received as members of the A Day For Daisies Design Team.

Our hop theme is “A Collection of ADFD Favorites.”  Each DT member will feature her favorite ADFD image.  The hop has hidden prizes so don’t forget to comment beginning today until 9:00 p.m. eastern standard time on Tuesday, February 27, 2017.

We also want your participation!  Enter a card over at the A Day For Daisies Challenge Blog using an ADFD image.   You have until Friday, March 3rd to enter your cards.

For my favorite image, I’ve chosen “Doll Face 5”.  I’ve colored her up using my favorite Copic Markers.  The skin is done in Eooo, Eoo, E21, E11, E04 & R20.  The hair is E55, E53, E51 & E50 with added color pencil work.  Her luscious lips are R89, R35 and R14 and her eyes are B04 & B12.  That glorious background is a super technique I learned from Jennifer Dove which uses 91% alcohol and copic markers applied off a palette in B29 & B25. I then texturized with burlap and more alcohol for a great background.  My sentiment is Wplus 9’s Hand Lettered Hello and my frame is the new Hero Arts Infinity Postage Stamp die.

Technique Junkies – Thankful Swirls

The Crafty Nurse here with more inspiration from Technique Junkies.

Today, I used “Layered Swirls”  as a background for my die cut leaves which I heat embossed in gold.  The sentiment is from “Typewriter Set” and find it a perfect saying for someone weathering a storm, which to me this card represents. The background is Alcohol Ink on Yupo which I spritzed again with 91% Alcohol for that spread out splottchy effect.  I cut out the cardbase using a Simon Says Stamp die. I distressed and added twine to finish.

Technique Junkies August Blog Hop!

It’s August 1st and that means it’s time for the Technique Junkie Design Team’s  blog hop showcasing the new Technique Junkies stamps for August 2016.

Pat is offering 15% off all August Release Stamps for one week!  WooHoo!  So stop by all the design team’s blogs for great ideas and samples of other new August Release stamps  you can find in the Technique Junkies Store.

My first card uses the Metallic Magic Technique from December 2002 for the background.   I then ran it through a We R Memory Keepers Geometric folder and used the new “Grand Greetings Set of 5 for my sentiment on gold My Favorite Things card stock.  These new release sentiments are perfect for card fronts.

August - HB

My second card uses the “180 Degree Technique from Bodacious Backgrounds CD” with the “Hipster Cats #S718” stamp. The inks were Hero Arts Cup of Joe and Sand.  The sentiment isn’t a new release, but a great Technique Junkies stamp called, “Better Things SDX063” which I heat embossed with Liquid Platinum powder.
August-Cats

My next card uses two techniques.  The background is “Marbling Rainbow from April/May 2004” and the focal image featuring the gorgeous “Horse #SD706” stamp uses “Polished Mulberry from June 2003 Newsletter”.  The marbling was done with reinkers and alcohol.  My sentiment is another new August release called, “Move Your Soul SDX082”.

August-Horse

My final card  uses the “Marbled Smooch Technique from October/November 2010 Newsletter featuring “Just Look Up SD722”. He’s simply stamped on the background and colored with metallic gel pens.  I added stars from My Favorite Things Dies and finished off with Wink of Stella.

August - Puppy

Now, that I’ve shown you what I have to offer, I don’t want you to miss any of the other design teams creativity so I encourage you to start hopping at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.

July

For my card this week I used one of the brand new release frames Plate 10400  and the sweet “Beach Time 4503-K” Repeat Impressions stamp.  The technique is from a Kit & Clowder “create & learn tutorial using alcohol inks.   I started by stamping on specialty stamping paper with Versafine Black Onyx Ink, then heat embossing with clear powder.  I then colored with Tombow markers.   I did use a craft knife to cut out the middle of the frame so I could pop it up and have my sweet image show through.

Technique Junkies July Blog Hop!

Happy July 1st fellow Junkies!  With summer here, the Technique Junkie Design Team is celebrating with a blog hop showcasing the new Technique Junkies stamps for July.  In addition to some fabulous stamps, there are stencils, art anthology colorations, and a variety of dimensional mediums perfect for those who like to play with ink.  As is her custom, Pat is offering 15% off all July Release Stamps for one week!  WooHoo!

I’d love for you to stop by all the design team’s blogs listed below for great ideas on how to use those new July Release stamps found in the Technique Junkies Store.

I wanted to start the hop off with a patriotic flare using a combination of new and existing Technique Junkies stamps.  The background was built using “Patriot Fragments”, a fabulous set that can be used all together for a background like I have done, or individually as elements on your projects.  The technique is the Big Bold Blending Tutorial from the Bodacious Backgrounds CD using Candy Apple Red and Faded Jeans Distress Inks.  To build the focal image, I started with the Tim Holtz stars stencil using the Gelato Wipe technique (but with distress ink) from Sensational Stencils CD.   I then stamped the new “Dream Big SD697” from the July release and went over that with a black gel pen to add pop.

July1

My second card features the new “Mermaid Love #S698” which I stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and colored up with Copic Markers.  To create the sun rays I used the basic “Grunged Stencil Technique from the Sensational Stencils CD” with the Tim Holtz Ray’s stencil and Scattered Straw, Fossilized Amber, Squeezed Lemonade, and Mustard Seed inks. The sentiment is another new July stamps called, “Better At The Lake Set of 5 – SS057”.  I finished off the white water with Copic White Paint applied with a stipple brush, a great way to add texture and “splash” to water.

July6

My next card  uses the “Colorwash Alcohol Tutorial from the August/September 2012 Technique Junkies Newsletter.  I love the depth and variety of color in this technique and the way it sets off the boats in the new “Rowboats #712” stamp.  The sentiment is from a previous release called,  “Winds of Change SD621” .

July5

My last card uses some copper Washi Tape for the background.  For more ideas using Washi tape, check out “Washi Tape & Ribbons CD.  My focal stamps is “Rescue Love SD689” that I stamped with Tombow Markers in several colors, then painted Art Anthology Dimensional paint in Vegas Gold, Kenyan Copper, and Desire.  The background is one of my favorite TJ Stamps “Faint Scratches #S518” stamped in Antique Linen Distress Ink.

July7

From The Heart Stamps – Midweek Design Team Inspiration

I’m here today with a little Mid-Week DT Inspiration for From The Heart Stamps!  My card today is colored with Copic Markers using the “Hot Chick Flamingo.”   For the background I added 91% Alcohol with cotton tips after adding a base color of marker.  I love how the alcohol reacts and makes a fun background.

I hope you’ll stop by this week to check out both the Sketch Challenge and the Stamp of the Month Challenge at the From The Heart Stamps Blog.

I look forward to seeing you over at the From The Heart Stamps Blog  and in the Facebook Community.  We really love to see your work.

From The Heart Stamps Sketch #134 – Twist: Dots or Stripes

Hello friends!  Happy Monday!  I’m here with sketch #134 at From The Heart Stamps.  These are great challenges because you can use just the sketch, or if you’d like, add the twist. The only requirement is that you use a From The Heart image and the sketch.  The rest is up to you. The twist for this challenge is to use Dots or Stripes.

Sketch134-558x720

Sketch134

I used both the sketch and the twist this week.  My image is a happy snowman called, “Reach For The Stars” which I colored with Copic Markers.  The background is textured with 91% alcohol and burlap.

Sure hope you’ll join us for Sketch #134 at From The Heart Stamps this week.  Also, don’t forget to stop by and join the FTHS Facebook group.  Happy Monday!!

Technique Junkies

The Crafty Nurse here with a post using some of the great new release stamps from January.  When I saw the book themed stamps, the first thing I thought about was creating some fabulous bookmarks.

I used alcohol inks a few different ways.  First I dropped them directly onto the tag then added 91% alcohol on top with a dropper to create great movement.  Then I used the more traditional polished stone technique using the applicator and blending solution then pouncing on the tag.

After applying the ink, I stamped “Books #S644” on a few tags and heat embossed with clear.  I then chose several of the sentiments from “Bookworms #SS054″ and stamped those as well.  To finish off I created tassels with bakers twine and metallic thread.  I found a great tutorial on Pinterest on how to make these very quickly.

I hope everyone is enjoying their new year and making time to get your fingers inky.  Also, don’t forget, Pat has offered $15% off the January Release stamps until the 8th so stop by the Technique Junkies store and grab up some goodies.

Take care,

Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge: Valentine’s or Love Cards for Kids

Happy New Year!  It’s the first Saturday of 2016 and time for a Send a Smile 4 Kids Card Challenge!  We are changing things up a little this year on the blog and will have two (2) sponsors instead of the previous three (3).  In addition, one of the sponsors will be highlighted by the design team and the other sponsor will be a second party sponsor, offering prizes.  What has continued is the generosity of our sponsors who will continue to offer great prizes for our randomly chosen winners.

Our sponsors for the Valentine/Love Challenge are:

1) Doodle Pantry: Offering a prize of $10.00 Gift Certificate to Random Winner

2) Die-Versions: Offering a prize of $15.00 Gift Certificate to Random Winner

My card today features “Doodle Pantry’s Valentine Mice” which I colored with Copic Markers. The background is a My Favorite Things background die. I know you don’t often see a aqua colored mouse, but wanted to give a bit of contrast to the traditional love card colors.

From The Heart Stamps December Blog Hop-Birthdays!

Welcome to our From the Heart Stamps December blog hop. This month we are celebrating all things Birthday with our designers choosing “From The Heart” images that best reflect the month of our birth.  Isn’t that fun?  The hoppers will be guessing what month each designer is born based on the image chosen.  I’ll give you a hint on mine “Pigs love to eat candy.”

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each blog. One random commenter will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from the FTHS store.  On the blog, Faith is also hosting a challenge to add your birthday month card with a $10.00 gift certificate prize. This challenge will run through Jan 3, 2016.

If you have arrived from Kathy Curry, you are in the right place, if not why don’t you start on the From the Heart Stamps blog, so you don’t miss anything.

Here is my project, using “Pumpkin Pitwit.”  I began cutting out the “Wonky Frame” die by My Favorite Things which I stamped using an Impression Obsessions scratch background in Hero Arts Shadow Ink.

I colored up my Pigwit with Copic Markers in Roo, RV11, and BV20.  For my pumpkins I used E15, YR18, YR15, Y35 and the leaves are G99, G94, G21 and YG03.  For my background I used W3, W1, W00 then added texture with 91% Alcohol and a terry cloth rag.

For the Balloons, I inked them up with Hero Arts Ombre Inks, then stamped multiple sized stars with Simon Says Stamp “Lots of Stars” and finished off with the sentiment and die set by Papertrey Ink.

Dec Hop

Now head over to Kelly Schelske’s Blog and see what she has created.

Thanks a bunch for hopping with us today. You have until Monday December 7th at 6 am EST to enter.  Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps Blog on Wednesday December 9th.”
