The Crafty Nurse here with some holiday spirit. I love to get my Christmas cards done early so I don’t have to rush around in December when I need them. I’ve used some new and old Technique Junkies stamps to create this vintage style card.
Supplies: MISTI, A Colorful Life’s “Square Fade Stencil,” Distress Paint in Frayed Burlap, Distress ink in Antique Linen, Gold Foiling, Holographic EP, Versamark, WPlus9 Die, Neenah Cardstock, gold cardstock, flitter-glu, and gold flakes.
Directions: Stamp Arabesque using Distress paint on cardstock using MISTI, ink with Distress, DRY completely with heat tool, apply versmark through stencil, apply holographic EP and heat, stamp sentiment using MISTI (a must because of texture), cut card panel using circle die, pop-up center die, stamp snowflake with flitter-glu, foil, buff, and back with gold cardstock.
The Crafty Nurse here for a midweek post to spark your creative flow. Have you joined our monthly challenge? If not, we’d love to see your cards and your entry may just win a prize at the same time. You can find the challenge over on the sidebar of the Technique Junkies Blog.
We’d also love to see your cards and projects over at the new Technique Junkies Facebook Group.
Now let’s get on to the inspiration. I’ve combined both new older Technique Junkies Stamps for a masculine themed card. I used die cuts to create interest and added depth with distress inks.
Pat is offering 15% off all May Release Stamps for one week! I’ve also got a discount code: TJ10Kathy, that can be used for anything else in the store when you are shopping. WooHoo!
The Technique Junkies team is growing and we are thrilled to have added several new team members to the group. Please stop by all the design team’s blogs for great samples of the other new May Release stamps.
My first card uses two of the new May release stamps:
- Stamp “Pocket Watches” with Hero Arts Soft Brown Shadow Ink. Let dry and dust with anti-static bag
- Surgically alter (i.e. cut apart) “Hat’s off To Dad” so that you have isolated just the hats. Don’t be afraid, you can always place back together if needed.
- Stamp “Hat’s Off To Dad” in a row using Versamark Ink and clear heat emboss
- Apply darker ink over entire card base – I used Frayed Burlap. This allows for the stamp below to shine beautifully through.
- Using Misti position “Hat’s Off To Dad” sentiment onto card stock. I used distress markers to isolate the different parts of the stamp. Using the Misti allows for repeat coverage needed when using distress markers. Once well inked, now apply Versamark ink and clear heat emboss. That allows you to ink over entire image and not ruin the sentiment
My second card features the same two stamps in a similar idea using translucent paste and stencils.
Technique: Pasted Resist from the Sensational Stencils CD
- Stamp “Pocket Watches” with Hero Arts Soft Sand Shadow Ink.
- Over the top, apply translucent modeling paste through “Stonework Stencil” from a Colorful Life and let dry
- Spray entire card with Bronze Distress Mica Spray and gently wipe off to reveal sparkle
- Fussy Cut “Hat’s Off To Dad” and apply with foam tape
- Stamp sentiment “Happy Father’s Day” on card stock you have lightly sprayed or inked through stencil to add texture – distress edges and mat card.
My third card switches gears for a more feminine card using Perfect Pearls, which is hard to see in this photo but is so wonderfully shimmery.
Technique: Faux Canvas from Emboss or Die CD (which is on a deep sale).
My final card is plays with a little hand doodling and some straight forward stamping.
- Cut 4 x 5.25 inch card panel out of Club Scrap textured card stock then die cut using My Favorite Things Frame Die.
- Use stamp positioner and stamp “Own Kind of Beautiful” in the center
- Hand Doodle around edges
- Die Cut WPlus9 flowers from Love Mom collection and add sparkles on top
- Splatter ink, I used Liquitex Ink in Carbon Black.
- Color in heart with Wink of Stella silver
Now, that I’ve shown you what I have to offer, I don’t want you to miss any of the other design teams creativity so I encourage you to start hopping at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.

Kathy Stacy – Me!
It’s the 5th week of the month and at Sketch Saturday, that means, pick any sketch between 215 through 422! That’s a lot to choose from. Here is the link to get you started. I chose sketch #405 by Niki. Also this week we are being sponsored by StarStampz who is offering the random winner 3 images of their choice!
The image I chose is “My Sweet Sunflower”, isn’t she beautiful? I colored her with Copic Markers and used Echo Park “So Happy Together” 6 x 6 paper pad. The dies are My Favorite Things and my sentiment is Wplus9 “That is all”.
You have until Friday, August 5th to enter at Sketch Saturday choosing your own sketch. See you there!
I’m here today with a little Mid-Week DT Inspiration for From The Heart Stamps! My card today is colored with Copic Markers using the “Hot Chick Flamingo.” For the background I added 91% Alcohol with cotton tips after adding a base color of marker. I love how the alcohol reacts and makes a fun background.
I hope you’ll stop by this week to check out both the Sketch Challenge and the Stamp of the Month Challenge at the From The Heart Stamps Blog.
Happy Saturday! Today’s new Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by A Day For Daisies who is offering a very generous $12.00 gift certificate to her store for our random winner. Thanks Tammy! You have until Friday, June 10th for a chance to win.
Here’s the sketch:
For my card I chose the sweet image from A Day For Daisies called, Curious Daughter.” I colored the image with Copic Markers and used Echo Park’s “Sunshine” 6 x 6 paper pack.
The sun, tag, and vertical strip are My Favorite Things Dies. The clouds are Memory Box and the oval scallop is Spellbinders. Finally, the sentiment is Wplus9.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with using the new Sketch Saturday Sketch!

This new release is amazing! For my card today I am using, “Vintage Brides Headpiece” which I’ve colored up with Copics in Neutral Grey and BG tones. The oval dies are My Favorite Things, the “love” die is WPlus9, and the paper is Our Daily Bread.
Happy Monday! That means it’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and this week we are celebrating “Just Purple.”
I’d also like to wish my oldest, Dan, a very Happy Birthday today!!
Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 card without any large lumps or bumps. The challenge will run through Sunday, March 27th and our design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.
For my card I used the My Favorite Things “Beautiful Blooms” card kit from January. I began with FW Pearlescent Fluid Acrylic Paint for my background. It’s got a gorgeous shimmer. I then used the stamp, dies and ink from the kit and finished off with an Altenew sentiment from Oriental Orchid. The card base is cut out with a WPlus9 Die.
I’m looking forward to seeing what you enter for your “Just Purple” cards this week!
Happy Monday! It’s time for another Cards in Envy challenge . This week our theme is “Beautiful Butterflies.”
As a reminder, Cards in Envy asks that your card fit into a standard A2 envelope for ease of mailing, but that doesn’t mean they have to be one layer or clean and simple.
For today’s card I used one of the newer sets from Alte New called, Botanical Garden. The coloring is a combination of both Copic Markers for the base and Prismacolor Pencils for detail. To keep a “no-line” feel, I started with the lightest color of pink ink for the initial stamping. The card base is a WPlus9 die which adds rounded edges for a softer feel. To display, I played in photoshop to give a textured background. I think I need to break out those lessons on how to use this program better!
Hope we’ll see your butterflies in the Cards in Envy challenge. You have until March 20th to enter.
