Cards in Envy Challenge: “Penny For Your Thoughts”

Happy Monday!  That means it’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and this week our theme is “Penny For Your Thoughts”.   These are cards feature a thought or speech bubble.

Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 envelope without any large lumps or bumps.  The challenge will run through Sunday, September 3rd and our design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the Cards in Envy blog.

For my card today I used a Taylored Expressions stamp set called “Party Grumplings”.  I also used the “surprise” stamp from My Favorite Things “Beary Special Birthday”, which I stamped in Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Pool.  My design paper is also from My Favorite Things and my grumpling is colored in Copics use YG09, YG07, and YG03. The speech bubble is a stamp and die set also from My Favorite Things.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with this week for your “Penny For Your Thoughts” cards for the Cards in Envy Challenge!

Cards in Envy Challenge – Baby Blue or Pretty Pink?

For this Cards in Envy Challenge we are providing entrants a choice of making a card that is either baby blue or pretty pink.  By no means do you have to make a baby card, just choose either blue or pink on your card. Our challenges runs through Sunday, July 30th.  As a quick reminder, Cards in Envy asks that you make your card fit into a standard A2 card, which is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches.

My card today features a Skipping Stone Designs stamp called “Bra’s #1”. I watercolored the bra using Picked Raspberry and Pumice Stone Distress Ink. The white background is a dotted embossing folder and the pink is stamped with a MFT script stamp in white ink and clear heat embossed.  I finished off with a big ribbon to add more pink flare.

I hope you will join us at Cards in Envy this week and show us your choice of either Baby Blue or Pretty Pink cards!

Cards in Envy Challenge: Red, White & Blue

Happy Monday!  That means it’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and this week we are celebrating the good old “Red, White & Blue”!  Your card does not have to be patriotic, just needs to use those colors.

Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 envelope.  The challenge will run through Sunday, July 16th and our design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

My card design was based off one from a favorite artist, Sandy Allnock.  She is inspirational and has some great card making tutorials, especially if you like coloring.

I look forward to seeing your Red, White & Blue cards this week! I wish all a safe and relaxing 4th of July filled with friends, family and fireworks!

Cards in Envy Challenge: Pretty Pastels

Happy Monday!  We here at Cards in Envy hope you are enjoying Spring.  Today we begin a new challenge highlighting “Pretty Pastels”.  What a great way to give some creative license.

As a quick reminder, please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 card without any large lumps or bumps. The challenge will run through Sunday, April 30th.  The design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

Today, my card features a Technique Junkies Stamp called “Large Poppies” which I stamped in Versamark Ink and white heat embossed over My Favorite Things watercolor design paper.  The “because die” and sentiment are also My Favorite Things.  To create the dimension in the “because”, I die cut it four times and stacked it up, then applied with Matte Medium Gel.  I finished off with Hero Arts hearts.

We can’t wait to see your Pretty Pastel entries over at Cards in Envy this challenge.  If you are interested in purchasing the above stamp, you can use my discount TJ10Kathy at the Technique Junkies Store.

From The Heart Stamps: Mid-week Design Team Inspiration 2-22-17

It’s Wednesday and time for the From The Heart Stamps  Mid-week Design Team Highlights.  Today, I made a spring inspired love card using Love You Mouse by From the Heart Digital Images.   As a reminder we have the Stamp of the Month challenge as well as the current sketch challenge for you to join.

I colored this sweetie with cool grey Copic Markers then cut him out with an oldie but goodie Spellbinders circle die. My papers are by Lawn Fawn.

We hope we see you this week over at From the Heart Stamps.  We are glad to back and seeing your beautiful cards. In addition to posting your card in the challenge, We’d love to see you on the FTHS Facebook group.

Cards in Envy Challenge – Red & Blue!

This Cards in Envy Challenge, which is named, “Roses are Red, Violets are Blue”, is a color challenging using the colors red and blue.  You don’t have to use roses or violets, just the color red and blue.  Don’t worry, the white in your card base does not matter.

Here at Cards in Envy we ask that you make your card fit into a standard A2 envelope.  This challenge will run through Sunday, March 5th.

My card uses the My Favorite Things stamp and die set called, “Geometric Greenery”.  I stamped and cut out the images in hot press watercolor paper which I prefer as it’s very smooth.  I then colored with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush.  I then used the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangles to cut out two panels.  I don’t do a lot of clean and simple cards so this was really fun.

I hope you will join us at Cards in Envy this week and show us your Red & Blue cards!

Cards in Envy: Pumpkin Challenge

Hello Friends!  It’s Monday and time for a Cards in Envy challenge.  Our theme this challenge is all about PUMPKINS!  You can use a pumpkin on your card, or just use pumpkin colors. Our rules have lightened up a little bit and now your card entries can be any size as long as it still fits into an envelope.  You can use a little more dimension too. Our challenge will run through Sunday, November 20, just in time to get those Thanksgiving cards made and in the mail.

For my card today I used a pumpkin stamp that I pulled from my stash that I got years ago in a grab bag so I don’t know the artist.  I colored up the image with Copic Markers and added some distress inks.  The paper is Carta Bella’s “Autumn” collection and the leaves are from Impression Obsession dies with a bit of Distressed Glitter on the edges.  The background is gold heat embossed and I finished off with some Nuvo drops in gold.

For my card I used one of the older Simon Say Stamp card kits that was tucked away in my stash.  The background is stamped with a My Favorite Things background script and I distress the edges of my die cut from the kit.  I also used cut out words from the paper paper to create a sentiment. Instead of the flag, I used the ampersand.
