Technique Junkies – Golden Beauty

The Crafty Nurse here with mid-week inspiration.

Today, I’ve used the “Vine Beauty” to create a golden beauty.

My background is gold glitter paste applied through a marque stencil. You can also use translucent embossing paste and apply gold embossing powder over the top.  I then sprayed with Distress Mica Spray in Tarnished Brass.  My “Vine Beauty” is stamped with Delicata Golden Glitz using my MISTI and also sprayed with Mica.  I then hand doodled a frame using the BEST gold marker called, “Extra Fine Point Paint Marker” by Pilot.

We are getting ready for the BIGGEST holiday release yet on September 1st.  Until then, please join us at the Facebook group and over on the Design Team Blog for our challenge.

Happy Inking

Technique Junkies – Amazing Grace in Fall

Hello Junkies!  I’m here today with a Technique Junkies August release stamp called “Amazing Grace”.  As we head into the fall, I pulled out an older stamp to pair this with called, “Vintage Botanical Japanese Maple” and used some Lindy’s Stamp Gang Sprays in reds, oranges and yellow after stamping in Sepia archival.

I hope you find some time to get crafty today.  We are all over at the Technique Junkies Facebook Page so if you haven’t stopped by, we’d love to see you!  You can find all the August release stamps here at August Release.

Cards in Envy Challenge: “Penny For Your Thoughts”

Happy Monday!  That means it’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and this week our theme is “Penny For Your Thoughts”.   These are cards feature a thought or speech bubble.

Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 envelope without any large lumps or bumps.  The challenge will run through Sunday, September 3rd and our design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the Cards in Envy blog.

For my card today I used a Taylored Expressions stamp set called “Party Grumplings”.  I also used the “surprise” stamp from My Favorite Things “Beary Special Birthday”, which I stamped in Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Pool.  My design paper is also from My Favorite Things and my grumpling is colored in Copics use YG09, YG07, and YG03. The speech bubble is a stamp and die set also from My Favorite Things.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with this week for your “Penny For Your Thoughts” cards for the Cards in Envy Challenge!

Technique Junkies – Amazing Rainbow

Happy Wednesday Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse here today sharing a rainbow of inspiration using the August release stamp, “Amazing Grace #SD776”.

The background is created using Distress Dragging from the February 2007 Subscriber pages. Then using my MISTI, I stamped “Amazing Grace” using Versafine Black Onyx ink and heat embossed with clear powder.

We hope to see you in the Facebook group and participating in our monthly challenge over at the Design Team Blog.

Cards in Envy Challenge – Bug Me!

For this Cards in Envy Challenge, we are bugging out with a “Bug Me” theme.  Choose any insect or bug on your card to enter.  Our challenge runs through Sunday, August 20th and the design team will be picking their favorites. As a quick reminder, Cards in Envy asks that you make your card fit into a standard A2 card, which is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches.

My card today features an old Close to My Heart stamp set called “Beetle Bug”.  I stamped him using tombow (443 & 173) markers on watercolor paper.  Once the image was stamped, I went back with an aqua brush and dropped it additional color.  I then highlighted the bug with a Fabercastell pen and added back ground with Daniel Smith watercolors in Hematite. Last, I stamped a club scrap foliage stamp and cut out the design using a My Favorite Things stitched flag die. My paper pad is “We Are Family” by Echo Park and the sentiment Lawn Fawn “On the Mend”.

I hope you will join us at Cards in Envy this week and show us your “Bug Me” cards.

Technique Junkies – Wings N’ Roses

Hey there Junkies!  The Crafty Nurse here today.

Have you seen those great cards and projects featured on the design team hop yesterday? Wow, what a talented bunch!

Today, I’m here to add another taster from the August release called “Never Stop Flying”.  I anticipate this will be a crowd favorite.

My background started using a Tim Holtz rose stencil and embossing paste.  Once that dried, I sprayed Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst in Azure Sea Aster, Open Arms Amythest, and French Lilac Violet. I then applied a layer of foil tape around the edges to frame out the background.

For my focal image, I began with glossy cardstock using the Alcohol Stencil Technique from the Sensational Stencil CD.  I stamped “Never Stop Flying” with Versafine Black Onyx ink and embossed with clear. I then added additional color to her wings using Zig Clean Clear Brush Markers in Lilac and Cobalt Blue, fussy cut her out and used dimensional tape. Those wispy silver pieces coming from behind her are actually the pieces I cut off the edges of foil tape and I liked they way they curled so added them to her wings.  Let your creativity Fly!!!!
