Technique Junkies – Black Cat

Hello Fellow Junkies!!

Kathy, The Crafty Nurse here.

It’s almost time for the September Blog Hop tomorrow and in preparation for that, I’ve created a Halloween card using last years September Release called “Black Cat #SD615”.  He’s stamped on a background of Distress Watercolor.

Please join us in the morning for the Design Teams showcase of September 2016 Technique Junkies release.

See you there!!

The House That Stamps Built: Anything Goes

It’s the fifth Wednesday of the Month and time for The House That Stamps Built Anything Goes challenge.  This doesn’t come around too often, but it’s your time to do anything you wish.  You have until Tuesday, September 6th to enter for a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate at Repeat Impressions.

For my card today I had some creative play using Dylusions ink to watercolor with.  If you haven’t tried this, it’s so simple.  All you do is stamp and emboss your image, spray with water over entire piece and start dropping color.  You can use any water based color and Dylusions works very well.

For my card I started by stamping the Repeat Impressions “Flower Power Frame 10202-Q and embossed with white powder. I dropped in Cherry Pie, Funky Fushia, Pure Sunshine, Lemon Zest and Cut Grass. I created a border using a My Favorite Things frame and used the sentiment “Special 8608-D”.

A Blog Named Hero – “Pop of Color”

Hello fellow Hero Art’s Friends!

Kathy, The Crafty Nurse here today sharing some inspiration for our “Pop of Color” challenge in collaboration with The Ton.   You have until the end of the day to enter this month over at A Blog Named Hero.

Both cards were made using The Ton’s “Fall Foliage” set. This stunning stamp layering set is so great, I made two cards!  The first card is in line with our “pop of color” challenge and features the stamp layering technique from The Ton’s You-Tube video.  I personally used a Misti tool to make sure my layers aligned. For background leaves, I stamped only the final layer in the leaf set so my focal leaf “Popped” and added a Darice embossing folder over a diffuser for more “pop”.

My second card features negative watercoloring taught by Dawn Woleslagle of WPlus 9 in Online Card Classes Intermediate course.  I am quite the novice in watercolor, but I really enjoyed using this gorgeous stamp with this technique.

We can’t want to see what you’ve created for your “Pop of Color” over at A Blog Named Hero.  Have fun!

For my card I’ve used a variety of stamps from Plate 2300 at Repeat Impressions  though all of the stamps can be purchased separately in the Halloween section of the store.  The background began with some play from Brusho’s powders in warm tones.  I then did a bit of distress inking and created the embossed background using a Darice Fall Folder.

Technique Junkies – Pear Minx

Kathy, The Crafty Nurse here today with more Technique Junkies inspiration using “Fanciful Fruit – Set of 2#SS057” from the August release.

The background is the result of playing with both Minx and Art Anthology products.  The Minx colors used was the white called “Immaculate” and the orange called, “Radiance”.   The Art Anthology Sorbet I used was “Vegas Gold” which I ran through with a texture comb.

I heat embossed the pear from “Fanciful Fruit” with Versafine Black Onyx Ink and clear powder.  I also spayed it with Gilded Gold Colorations and placed the whole thing over some torn mulberry.

Sure hope you find some time to get your fingers inky today and I’ll see you later on this month for more junkie goodness.

See you then!
