Hello!  The Crafty Nurse here with a project using Ellen Hutson’s Essential’s By Ellen’s stamps and dies for the “Texture” challenge at A Blog Named Hero.

I combined the Essential By Ellen’s “Thankful” blooms and “Lovely” stamp sets using Rock Candy Crackle Paint and Distress Ink to texturize these gorgeous fall leaves. So they popped, I used the My Favorite Things Flog Die, which allows the card to stand up to further display these blooms.

For my card I’ve stamped Repeat Impressions Round Pumpkin 2318-G and Boo 2316-G for a sweet Halloween scene.  My spiderwebs are flocked using a rub on from my stash.  I applied glossy accents to my round pumpkin and embossed a circle for him to sit on. The flag die is from My Favorite Things.

Technique Junkies – Dimensional Birch

Hey there fellow Junkies!!

Kathy, The Crafty Nurse here today with, yes another project featuring September Release, “Birches #S686” for my inspiration today.  What can I say.  I just LOVED this stamp! Today I wanted to share how I used some Art Anthology dimensional paints to create texture and vibrant color using this awesome stamp.

I began by stamping “Birches #S686” with Archival Jet Black Ink using my Misti tool so that I could get a nice dark background.  Don’t forget to take out the padding in your Misti when using these cushioned stamps.  I then laid down some Hero Arts Die inks in Butter Bar, Pumpkin Spice and Rust using the Faux Paint Swatch technique (but only using 1/2 of the tape) on the right of each tree.  I then broke out my Art Anthology Dimensional Paints in Kenyan Copper, Pumpkin Spice, Vegas Gold,  and Terracotta swiping them over the branches.  The dimension of these paints is fabulous and really looks like tree bark.

I’m really excited for you to see the October Technique Junkies Release in a few days, but until then, keep inking!

Technique Junkies – Witchy Moon

Hello Junkies!

Kathy, The Crafty Nurse here today with a quick card using “Halloween House #SD#S669”“Witchy Moon S#SD761”, and “Happy Halloween #SDX080” all from the Technique Junkies September release.

I played a little with Distress Crayons over white heat embossing, then collaged the images after stamping them in Archival Ink onto distress tissue paper. To brighten the images I went over them all with a black Fude pen, which writes over almost anything, even Distress Crayons.

For the photo challenge I started with Repeat Impressions “Tiny Cupcake 9309-C” which I colored with Copic Markers.  I then cut out elements from the Doodlebug “Back to School” paper pack to reflect the school themed items. The frame is a My Favorite Things framed die that I embossed with Repeat Impressions “Star Cluster 2106-G”.

Cards in Envy Challenge: Hello Fall!

Happy Monday!  It’s time for another Cards in Envy challenge using the theme of Hello Fall!  You all know that I love, love, love the fall and can’t wait to see the full glory of the beautiful fall trees.

The rules at Cards in Envy  are simple.  We ask that your cards fit into a standard A2 envelope for ease of mailing. That doesn’t mean they have to be one layer or clean and simple as you can see from my card.

I took a different route with my card today and didn’t do any stamping.  The leaves are a Lawn Fawn Stitched Die with a Hero Arts font die.  The “you” is a Simon Says Stamp die that I layered and glossy accented.

I really look forward to seeing what your Hello Fall cards look like at Cards in Envy!  We are having record number of entries on the blog lately and I’m thrilled to see all your gorgeous work.

For my “Happy Birthday” card I stamped the Repeat Impressions “Mini Cupcake” and colored it with Tombow Markers. I then made a new sentiment using the “Holy Crap” plate 10600″.  The sentiment was framed using a black micron and the papers are My Favorite Things.

Technique Junkies Fall Birches

Hey Junkies!

It’s The Crafty Nurse here with a bit of Fall inspiration featuring my favorite stamp from the September Technique Junkies release the “Birches #S686”.  What I love about this stamp is it can be used as both a focal image and a fabulous background. I’m also entering this in the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge for a “Rustic” project.

mmmc28

I began by stamping the “Birches #S686” stamp with Archival Jet Black Ink.  I used the Faux Paint Swatches technique from April/May 2013 newsletter with Hero Arts Butter Bar, Pumpkin Spice, Just Rust, Cup O’ Joe, and Charcoal.  I used a Simon Says Stamp “Grant Maple Die” to cut a window and embossed with a Darice Leaf folder for the center which I inked for added contrast.  The sentiment is a My Favorite Things “Thanks” die that I stacked and embossed for high contrast.

I just love this time of year and this September release has given us some fabulous tools to celebrate in style.

Happy Inking!!

Technique Junkies – Shimmering Birch

The Crafty Nurse here with more inspiration using the September Technique Junkies release.

I simply stamped “Birches #S686″ and splattered Art Anthology Shimmering Minx Inks in Radiance and Decadent. It’s hard to tell in the picture but these are wonderfully sparkly and really make your project shine. My leaf is the Grand Maple Die from Simon Says Stamp that was the negative piece from another card I’ll be showcasing on the Technique Junkies blog later this month.

Stop by Technique Junkies store to pick up some great supplies for your inky pleasure!
