Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge #135: Celebration!

Happy Saturday Friends!  It’s time for another Send a Smile 4 Kids (SAS4Kids) challenge and the theme for this entry is CELEBRATION!  Whoo Hoo!  Your celebration cards can be anything you celebrate for kids like birthdays, graduations, a job well done or heck, just celebrate by sending a hello!

Our sponsors and prizes for this challenge are:

1) DRS Designs:  a $10.00 Gift Certificate

2) Kitchen Sink Stamps: 15.00 Gift Certificate.

My card today celebrates these beautiful butterflies by DRS Designs called, “Large Butterflies”.  I colored them using a stipple method I learned at Kit & Clowder using RV99, RV69, RV66 & RV63.  I outlined them with a clear gel pen and popped them on over Doodlebug pattern paper.  The die I used to cut the “V” shape is from My Favorite Things.

Send a Smile 4 Kids: Challenge 129 – Christmas in July

Happy Saturday my Friends.  Today at Send a Smile 4 Kids (SAS4Kids) we are celebrating “Christmas in July.”

If you aren’t familiar with SAS4Kids, their commitment is to support hospitalized children by providing home-made cards that parents, staff, or even the kids themselves can give during this time of need. It’s not a sad cause, in fact, we don’t focus on Get Well cards at all, but make the cards happy and fun.   I sure hope you will join both in our challenge and by sending in some cards for kids. To find out more about donation, look here.

This challenge will run through Friday, August 5th and give you a great head start on some holiday card making.  This challenge is sponsored by some very generous donors who are giving away some great gifts for the winning entry.  The design team also chooses their favorite so there are lots of ways to win.

The donors and prizes are:

1) The Cutting Cafe:   3 Digital/Cut Files for our Winner

2) Kitchen Sink Stamps: Prize: $25 Dollar Gift Certificate

Wow – thank you sponsors, Send a Smile 4 Kids really appreciates your support.

Now, let’s get to some inspiration!  My card is made using a PDF file from The Cutting Cafe, called “Christmas Card Fun.”  The cool thing about Cutting Cafe is their very affordable files come in both PDF and SVG files, which are used for electronic cutters.  As I don’t have an electronic cutter, I printed off the PDF on design paper and embellished with gold Sakura pen.  On the Cutting Cafe website, there are many great tutorials using this same file for both a shaker and treat cup project.  My snowflakes are cut from glitter paper using a Lawn Fawn die and the sentiment is Paper Smooches.

Christmas in July

I hope you’ll join us for our Christmas in July Challenge and consider donating some cards to Send a Smile 4 Kids.

Send a Smile 4 Kids – Challenge #127 – “Punch and Die Cuts”

It’s time for another Send a Smile 4 Kids challenge!  This challenge we are playing with “Punches and Die Cuts” on your cards this week.

Our wonderful sponsors are:

1) Dollar Graphics Depot – offering $15.00 gift certificate

2) Bugaboo – offering seven (7) digi’s to our winner

Thank you so much to our sponsors for supporting SAS4Kids!

Now, on to the inspiration.  For my card I used the Dollar Graphics Depot image called “Natures Colors”. This is an entire sheet of digital images for $1.00!  What a bargain for images that can be used over and over again.

I created the background using the technique I found on Pinterest using glue, distress inks, and a score-pal.  If you want the details, here’s the link.   I used a few dies this week including stitched ovals from My Favorite Things and a bow die by Paper Smooches.  My Tim Holtz sentiment is colored with Copic markers as is the focal image.

My first card uses Sami Stamps, “Slippery Umbrella,” which I colored in Copics.  I used a really cool technique with distress inks that you can find in my previous post here.  I also created the background using an eye dropper filled with 91% alcohol after coloring with some gray copics to get that drippy/raining effect. The dies are from My Favorite Things and my sentiment is Newton’s Nook “beautiful wings”.
