Cards in Envy Challenge: White on White

Happy Monday!  That means it’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and this week we are celebrating White on White cards! Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 envelope.

The challenge will run through Sunday, July 2nd.  Our design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

For my card I started with a Spellbinders Die and created a shaker card with white sequence.  My sentiment is from WPlus9 called, “Doodle Buds”, stamped in Hero Arts Silver.

White on White cards are so fun to create, but hard to photograph.  I ended up using a filter to get that tonal white on white feel.  I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with this week for the Cards in Envy Challenge!

Cards in Envy Challenge: Pretty Pastels

Happy Monday!  We here at Cards in Envy hope you are enjoying Spring.  Today we begin a new challenge highlighting “Pretty Pastels”.  What a great way to give some creative license.

As a quick reminder, please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 card without any large lumps or bumps. The challenge will run through Sunday, April 30th.  The design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

Today, my card features a Technique Junkies Stamp called “Large Poppies” which I stamped in Versamark Ink and white heat embossed over My Favorite Things watercolor design paper.  The “because die” and sentiment are also My Favorite Things.  To create the dimension in the “because”, I die cut it four times and stacked it up, then applied with Matte Medium Gel.  I finished off with Hero Arts hearts.

We can’t wait to see your Pretty Pastel entries over at Cards in Envy this challenge.  If you are interested in purchasing the above stamp, you can use my discount TJ10Kathy at the Technique Junkies Store.

Nature’s Rainbow

Hey Junkies!!

The Crafty Nurse here to help you through your week with some creative inspiration using both new and old stamps.  The first is one of Pat’s April release stamps “Art of God SD799”.  I paired this with clearance stamp called “Age Spots #SD087”, which is the perfect way to add a “splash” of color to your cards or art journal pages.

One of the cool tips I learned about adding embellishments is to add a drop of Stickles or Nuvo Drops to the center of your sequence.  This adds just a little detail that can really make your project shine.

I hope this post brings some sunshine to your day! Please join us over at the new Facebook group, we’d love to see your work.

Also, using TJ10Kathy, gets you 10% off Technique Junkies stamps.

Bye for now,

The Crafty Nurse

Cards in Envy Challenge: Fantasy & Florals

Happy Monday!  Spring has sprung here at Cards in Envy and we are beginning a new challenge highlighting “Fantasy & Florals.”  Use florals and an element of fantasy such as fairies, elves, or unicorns, etc. Enjoy!

As a quick reminder, please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 card envelope. The challenge will run through Sunday, April 16th.  The design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

For my card I used a digital image by Aurora Wings called “Poppy Elf”.  She was colored with Copic Markers in R59, R46 and R14 for florals, E000, Eoo, E11, E21, E04 & R20 for her skin and G99 & YG03 for her eyes using the technique I learned in the “Elements of Nature” course at Kit & Clowder.  Alyce is one of the best teachers when it comes to Copic Markers.  My floral element are roses from Clearly Besotted’s “Love Quotes” which I stamped in Hero Arts Shadow Inks.

I can’t wait to see your Fantasy & Floral entries this week over at Cards in Envy!  Happy Spring!!!!

Technique Junkies January Blog Hop!

We are ringing in the New Year with a Blog Hop for the January Technique Junkies  new release.  The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team  will provide an amazing  selection of inspiration for your enjoyment.

Pat is again offering 15% off all January Release Stamps for one week!  In addition to new stamps, Technique Junkies has great art supplies like stencils, art anthology colorations, velvets, and sorbets – which are fabulous dimensional mediums that can be used in such fun ways.

My first card uses some of those Art Anthology mediums in Red Velvet, Mi Bella and Cotton Candy for the background.  The featured stamp called “Love You #SD725” is perfect for ATC backgrounds, but I’ve used it as a focal image.  After white heat embossing “Love You, I applied the three mediums blending each to create a gradient. Behind the focal image is another new release called “Love Script #S697”, which I stamped in a pale shade of blue.  The frame is a My Favorite Things Die that I covered with “Art Anthology Black Leather” paint, which has a glorious shimmer adding that extra pizazz to your card.  I finished off the card with the Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ivory Seashell.  These are super quick drying and self-leveling creating perfect pearl shapes.

january2017-5

My second card uses the “Kraft Resist Technique from the Bodacious Backgrounds CD” with Vintage Photo Distress Inks to make the “Messy Love #S744” stamp stand out.  I cut the Messy Love  panel using a heart die to expose another January stamp called, “Love Script S697”.  In the process of making this card I was really inspired by the theme of love and community so using the people die from My Favorite Things I created two stacks of people holding hands in solidarity. I don’t think this die is being sold anymore, but I really loved how it paired with the TJ January release stamps.

january2017-1

My next card features the gorgeously delicate new stamp called, “Being Yours #SD727.”  For the background I began with a Stencil Girl stencil using “Gessoed Stencil Technique from the Sensational Stencil CD” .  The color is Picked Raspberry Distress Ink applied in an ombre fashion.  The focal image “Being Yours” was embossed using silver sparkle powder.  I cut think strips of silver glitter paper to frame the vellum and finished with sequins and stickles.

My final project uses the “By Us #SD700” with the technique “Whitewash Chic from the Artistic Effects CD“. I colored the image with distress markers and a fine tipped water brush.  The frame was created by another My Favorite Things half circle die that was popped up for extra dimension. I cut away the sentiment so I could use it as a sentiment.

Technique Junkies Christmas Cards

Hello Junkies!!

We are coming into the home stretch of the Holiday season and I hope you all are taking some time to get a little holiday crafting in before the season passes.  As a tip to be prepared for next year, why don’t you make a few extra cards this December then store them away in preparation for next year!

My first card today uses one of my absolute favorite holiday stamps called “Christmas Dove”.   I created a shaker card after I white heat embossed the dove and colored it with Distressed Stains. For more great ideas using Distress Stains check out the techniques on “Artistic Effects CD”.  The sentiment I used is from “Christmas Ornaments Set of 9″, which is so versatile and can be used as either a holiday or a thank you card.

My second card features “Oh Holy Night”, which I silver heat embossed and stamped over a watercolor background.  This is perfect for mass production.

I want to wish each and every one of you the most wonderful holiday season.  We’ve got some exciting new stamps to feature for you on January 1st so we’ll see you then when the design teams returns for our first Blog Hop of 2017!

Until next year,

The Crafty Nurse

Technique Junkies – Record Snowfall

The Crafty Nurse here with more inspiration from Technique Junkies.

Today, I used both old and new Technique Junkies Stamps.  The old stamp is the Snowflakes #S235, which is probably my most favorite TJ stamp for the holidays.  It comes with 16 different snowflakes! The new stamp is the “All is Calm SDX079″ sentiment, which I stamped and silver embossed on black card stock spritzed with Dylusions White Linen spray to mimic snow.

During the holidays, one of the most found memories is listing to old records by Bing Crosby and Andy Williams.  As I began creating this card I began to notice the embossed circles look a little like a record! Okay – you have to have imagination, but I sure see a record!  Anyway, to create the record, I embossed several circle dies together and popped them up to give dimension.  I then stamped the Snowflakes and added sequins.  My background is from Bodacious Backgrounds CD using Watered Dylusions Technique and another new release background stamp called “Baubles”.

Stop by Technique Junkies store to pick up some great supplies for your inky pleasure!  I hope you are enjoying the 30 Days of Christmas at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.

Technique Junkies September Blog Hop!

As those who follow me know, this is my FAVORITE time of the year!  I was so excited to get this batch of Technique Junkies stamps for our Technique Junkies Blog Hop.  The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team  will be showcasing the September release so please make sure to stop by and visit each of us.

Pat is again offering 15% off all September Release Stamps for one week beginning today!  As you know, Technique Junkies is not just stamps but lots of other products including stencils, art anthology colorations, Gelli Plating materials, and a variety of fun dimensional mediums perfect for those who like to play with ink.

My first card features one of my favorites this released called, “Birches #S686” .  The background was created using “Layered Goosebumps” featured on the Artistic Effects CD. The color was added with Distress inks in Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, and Vintage Photo and the focal image is new release, “Pumpkin Guy #SD749” colored with Distress Markers in Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Vintage Photo, and Ground Espresso.  The sentiment is new release, “Happy Halloween #SDX080”.  I’m very happy with the texture created by this technique.

Sept7

My second card features “Witchy Moon #SD761” using the “Dye WhitewashTechnique” with MicaMagic Antique Gold Reinker for the moon and extra splatters.  The sentiment was white heat embossed using “Happy Halloween #SDX080”.  I finished off the edges with a Kylon Gold Pen and added a few flying bats.

Sept6

My next card features “Boo #SD726”  stamped with the Misti tool using “Masked Spellbinders” technique from the “Emboss & Die CD” The ink color is Staz-on in “Cactus Green” and perfect Halloween green.  The background began with “Brick Wall Background #S646” also stamped in Staz-on but with Cloudy Sky color.  I added additional depth with a C1 Copic Marker toward the bottom of each brick and used a color duster to bring in color over the mask. You can’t really see it here, but I finished off with Wink of Stella to give the “boo” style.

Sept3

My final card features “Halloween House #S669” embossed with both Frayed Burlap and Black Soot Distress powders.  I stamped “Witchy Moon” on Tim Holtz tissue paper and collaged it on my background.  My sentiment, “Be Scary SDX086” was stamped on Distress Stained book paper and torn. I thought it would be a cute party invitation.

Cards in Envy Challenge: Wings

Happy Monday!  It’s time for another Cards in Envy challenge .  This week our theme is “Wings.”  This can be anything with wings such as butterflies, dragonflies, birds, angels, etc.

As a reminder, Cards in Envy asks that your card fit into a standard A2 envelope for ease of mailing, but that doesn’t mean they have to be one layer or clean and simple.

For today’s card I used a fun technique from a tutorial CD called “Bodacious Backgrounds” by Technique Junkies called, 180 degree stamping.  The stamp is also by Technique Junkies called, Vintage Butterfly Collection,” with a great sentiment called, “Forever and a Day” which I heat embossed with silver powder.

Wings

Hope you like it and enter a card with us at Cards in Envy!   Where will your wings take you today???
