Technique Junkies September Blog Hop!

As those who follow me know, this is my FAVORITE time of the year!  I was so excited to get this batch of Technique Junkies stamps for our Technique Junkies Blog Hop.  The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team  will be showcasing the September release so please make sure to stop by and visit each of us.

Pat is again offering 15% off all September Release Stamps for one week beginning today!  As you know, Technique Junkies is not just stamps but lots of other products including stencils, art anthology colorations, Gelli Plating materials, and a variety of fun dimensional mediums perfect for those who like to play with ink.

My first card features one of my favorites this released called, “Birches #S686” .  The background was created using “Layered Goosebumps” featured on the Artistic Effects CD. The color was added with Distress inks in Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, and Vintage Photo and the focal image is new release, “Pumpkin Guy #SD749” colored with Distress Markers in Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Vintage Photo, and Ground Espresso.  The sentiment is new release, “Happy Halloween #SDX080”.  I’m very happy with the texture created by this technique.

Sept7

My second card features “Witchy Moon #SD761” using the “Dye WhitewashTechnique” with MicaMagic Antique Gold Reinker for the moon and extra splatters.  The sentiment was white heat embossed using “Happy Halloween #SDX080”.  I finished off the edges with a Kylon Gold Pen and added a few flying bats.

Sept6

My next card features “Boo #SD726”  stamped with the Misti tool using “Masked Spellbinders” technique from the “Emboss & Die CD” The ink color is Staz-on in “Cactus Green” and perfect Halloween green.  The background began with “Brick Wall Background #S646” also stamped in Staz-on but with Cloudy Sky color.  I added additional depth with a C1 Copic Marker toward the bottom of each brick and used a color duster to bring in color over the mask. You can’t really see it here, but I finished off with Wink of Stella to give the “boo” style.

Sept3

My final card features “Halloween House #S669” embossed with both Frayed Burlap and Black Soot Distress powders.  I stamped “Witchy Moon” on Tim Holtz tissue paper and collaged it on my background.  My sentiment, “Be Scary SDX086” was stamped on Distress Stained book paper and torn. I thought it would be a cute party invitation.

Cards in Envy Challenge: Let It Snow

Happy Monday!  It’s time for another Cards in Envy challenge .  This week our theme is “Let It Snow.”

As a reminder, Cards in Envy asks that your card fit into a standard A2 envelope, which is 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 for ease of mailing, but that doesn’t mean they have to be one layer or clean and simple.

For today’s card I used a Rhonda Designs Digital Image called, “Snow Heart.”  I colored him with Copic Markers and cut it out with a scalloped Lifestyle Crafts Die.  The background was created using the My Favorite Things background builder and the sentiment is from PaperTrey Ink.

Cards in Envy Challenge: Thankful

It’s Monday Folks and time for another Cards in Envy Challenge Post.  This is one of my personal favorites because it’s about being Thankful.  Thanksgiving is a so special to me.  A time when family got together and enjoyed some really great times.  Now that I’ve moved 3,000 miles away from all my family I sure miss that, but still hold this time very sacred.  The “Thankful” challenge will run through Sunday, November 30th.  Your card can include anything related to being thankful as long as it fits into a standard A2 card.  Winners will be chosen by the Design Team and featured on the Cards in Envy blog.

How about some inspiration?  I am using an adorable image by Mo Manning called, “Fall Fairy Jesen”.  I colored him with Copic Markers and decided to make a different shape card that would still fit into an A2 envelope.  I used several dies on the card including: Large Flower Circle die is: Spellbinders, Flag and circle dies are My Favorite Things, leaves are from Paper Smooches.  I rounded the edges using my crop-a-dile and the card base was stamped with a leaf image from my stash.  The design paper is Authentique’s from last year that I edged the circle with antique Linen distress ink.  I finished the card with both ribbon and hemp and cut a Simon Says Stamp banner to place the sentiment.  Hope you like it!

Lawn Fawn Halloween

I’m enjoying another day off and having fun with my stamps and ink.  Today I am playing with the Lawn Fawn “Monster Mash” and “Wish You Were Here” stamp set to make a Halloween card.  The background is distress ink in Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves, Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed, and Black Soot.  I added some Perfect Pearls mixed with water for the “stars” and the white uniball pen to add spots on the monsters.  The wire is stamped with the dot pattern from “Wish You Were Here”.  The monsters are colored with Copic Markers and the spider is from the “Halloweenies” Paper Smooches stamp set. The ground is paper from Authentique and I used the curved Simon Says Stamp die and the Paper Smooches stitched curve.
