Cards in Envy Challenge – Jingle All The Way!

For this Cards in Envy Challenge, we are ringing in the holidays with a “Jingle All The Way” theme.  Create a December holiday card using one or more bells. Our challenge runs through Sunday, December 17th and the design team will be picking their favorites. As a quick reminder, Cards in Envy asks that you make your card fit into a standard A2 card, which is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches.

My card today features a holiday favorite digital image by Mo Manning called,  “Christmas Fairy Holly“, which I colored with Copic Markers. My sentiment is by Hero Arts and I finished off the card with Nuvo Drops in clear.

I hope you will join us at Cards in Envy this week and show us your “Jingle All The Way” cards.

Cards in Envy Challenge – Cheers to You!

For this Cards in Envy Challenge, we are raising our glass and having a “Cheers to You” theme.  Create a congratulations or celebration card for your entry.  Our challenge runs through Sunday, September 17th and the design team will be picking their favorites. As a quick reminder, Cards in Envy asks that you make your card fit into a standard A2 card, which is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches.

My card today features a technique I saw by Kelly Laveotla comparing Distress Inks vs. Distress Oxide Inks.  I used Distress inks in Milled Lavender and Broken China.  My stamp is from an older Hero Arts kit long sold out but I liked the ease of cutting out the mask for this technique.  My sentiment is Alte New, “Magnolia’s For Her” which I white heat embossed.

I hope you will join us at Cards in Envy this week and show us your “Cheers to You” cards.

Cards in Envy “Motherly Love” Challenge

It’s Monday and time for another Cards In Envy Challenge.  As we approach Mother’s Day, our challenge will center around “Motherly Love”.  This is a very open invitation to be creative.  The rules are simple for this challenge and require only that your card fit into a A2 standard envelope.

Today, my card was inspired by Therese Calvird who designs for AlteNew.  My card uses the “Oriental Orchid” by AlteNew as well as AlteNew Inks.  The design paper is My Favorite things and the sentiment is Clearly Besotted “Best Mom”.

We look forward to your cards over at the Cards in Envy blog.  Happy card making!!

Cards in Envy Challenge: Fantasy & Florals

Happy Monday!  Spring has sprung here at Cards in Envy and we are beginning a new challenge highlighting “Fantasy & Florals.”  Use florals and an element of fantasy such as fairies, elves, or unicorns, etc. Enjoy!

As a quick reminder, please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 card envelope. The challenge will run through Sunday, April 16th.  The design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

For my card I used a digital image by Aurora Wings called “Poppy Elf”.  She was colored with Copic Markers in R59, R46 and R14 for florals, E000, Eoo, E11, E21, E04 & R20 for her skin and G99 & YG03 for her eyes using the technique I learned in the “Elements of Nature” course at Kit & Clowder.  Alyce is one of the best teachers when it comes to Copic Markers.  My floral element are roses from Clearly Besotted’s “Love Quotes” which I stamped in Hero Arts Shadow Inks.

I can’t wait to see your Fantasy & Floral entries this week over at Cards in Envy!  Happy Spring!!!!

Cards in Envy Challenge: Black & White with a Smidge of Color

Happy Monday!  That means it’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and this week we are celebrating Black & White with a Smidge of Color cards!  Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 envelope.

The challenge will run through Sunday, March 30th and our design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

For my card I started with Alte New’s “Adore You” stamp set which I stamped and copic colored with grey tones. My Smidge of color comes in the design paper by Glitz aptly called “Black & White”.  I added a sentiment, also from the same stamp set and a few sequins.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with this week for the Cards in Envy  “Black & White with a Smidge of Color” Challenge!

Cards in Envy Challenge: Pink & Grey

Happy Monday!  That means it’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and this week we are celebrating Pink & Grey cards! Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 envelope without any large lumps or bumps.  The challenge will run through Sunday, January 29th and our design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

For my card today I used AlteNew’s Adore You stamp set.  I stamped the flowers in Versafine Smokey Grey ink over design paper by My Minds Eye.  I inked the edges of my front panel with Pumice Stone Distress Ink and added ink spots in that same ink color.  The “I Adore You” sentiment, also in Versafine Smokey Grey completes my Pink & Grey card.

Cards in Envy Challenge: Flowers or Fantasy

Happy Monday!  Spring has sprung here at Cards in Envy and we are beginning a new challenge highlighting “flowers or fantasy.”  That leaves a pretty wide area of interpretation so enjoy!

As a quick reminder, please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 card without any large lumps or bumps.  The challenge will run through Sunday, April 17th.  The design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

For my card I used the gorgeous new AlteNew set called Peony Bouquet stamped on the My Favorite Things Tranquil Textures paper.  For the ink I used the AlteNew mini cubes in blue.  I love these cubes with these multistep stamps as the colors are perfectly gradient.  I finished off with the sentiment also by AlteNew and some sequins.

Cards in Envy Challenge: “Just Purple”

Happy Monday!  That means it’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and this week we are celebrating “Just Purple.”

I’d also like to wish my oldest, Dan, a very Happy Birthday today!!

Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 card without any large lumps or bumps. The challenge will run through Sunday, March 27th and our design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

For my card I used the My Favorite Things “Beautiful Blooms” card kit from January. I began with FW Pearlescent Fluid Acrylic Paint for my background.  It’s got a gorgeous shimmer.  I then used the stamp, dies and ink from the kit and finished off with an Altenew sentiment from Oriental Orchid.  The card base is cut out with a WPlus9 Die.

Purple

I’m looking forward to seeing what you enter for your “Just Purple” cards this week!

Cards in Envy Challenge: Beautiful Butterflies

Happy Monday!  It’s time for another Cards in Envy challenge .  This week our theme is “Beautiful Butterflies.”

As a reminder, Cards in Envy asks that your card fit into a standard A2 envelope for ease of mailing, but that doesn’t mean they have to be one layer or clean and simple.

For today’s card I used one of the newer sets from Alte New called, Botanical Garden.  The coloring is a combination of both Copic Markers for the base and Prismacolor Pencils for detail.  To keep a “no-line” feel, I started with the lightest color of pink ink for the initial stamping. The card base is a WPlus9 die which adds rounded edges for a softer feel. To display, I played in photoshop to give a textured background.   I think I need to break out those lessons on how to use this program better!

Butterflies

Hope we’ll see your butterflies in the Cards in Envy challenge.  You have until March 20th to enter.
