Technique Junkies – Beautiful & Brilliant

The Crafty Nurse here with some inspiration to spark your creative flow.  Have you joined our monthly challenge?  If not, we’d love to see your entries for prizes and you just may learn a new technique at the same time. You can find the challenge over on the sidebar of the Technique Junkies Blog.

We’d also love to see your cards and projects over at the new Technique Junkies Facebook Group.

Now let’s get on to the inspiration.  Can you tell I love this background stamp?  It’s got a vintage feel to me.  This card uses a Distress paint resist technique that’s as easy as stamping with paint, drying and applying ink over the top to colorize. I also added Art Anthology “Dazzle” which is a great to add some pizazz and seals in any water-soluble inks.

Happy day!

Technique Junkies – Seeing Stars

The Crafty Nurse here for a midweek post to spark your creative flow.  Have you joined our monthly challenge?  If not, we’d love to see your cards and your entry may just win a prize at the same time. You can find the challenge over on the sidebar of the Technique Junkies Blog.

We’d also love to see your cards and projects over at the new Technique Junkies Facebook Group.

Now let’s get on to the inspiration.  This stamp is perfect for both cards and art journal pages. I began by stamping “star collage” using the “Distressed Stain Direct” tutorial from the Bodacious Background CD which is on sale for $4.95.  I then stamped “star collage” again on grey card stock and sprayed with Distress Mica in silver.  I then cut out the stars using the My Favorite Things stitched star die and popped that up over the first panel. My sentiment was embossed.

Happy day!

In the spirit of spring, I went to the Subscriber Pages for Technique Junkies and chose techniques from the April/May 2013 section. My first card features “Life is Tough #SD711”.  Isn’t she gorgeous?  I began by making the background which uses the “Snippets Technique” combined with the new Jane Davenport Washi Tape.  A match made in heaven. I stamped her on white card stock using my MISTI tool and versafine black onyx ink, then embossed and fussy cut her out then placing her on a die cut panel.  I finished off with bling and called it fabulous DAHHHHling.

My second card features the April release stamp, “Butterfly Dreams #SD775”.  This card began with the “Design Paper Starburst” tutorial using Basic Grey’s Fresh Cut paper.  I stamped Butterfly Dreams with versamark and clear heat embossed.  Once that set, I distressed over the image to create a soft spring card.

My final card features “Honor and Love #SD797”, which I stamped over “Faux Paint Swatch” technique using Hero Arts Shadow Inks in Soft Granite and Mint Julip and Hero Arts Hybrid in Apple Green. My background is embossed with We R’ Memory Keepers geometric folder.

Now, that I’ve shown you what I have to offer, I don’t want you to miss any of the other design teams creativity so I encourage you to start hopping at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.

Technique Junkies January Blog Hop!

We are ringing in the New Year with a Blog Hop for the January Technique Junkies  new release.  The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team  will provide an amazing  selection of inspiration for your enjoyment.

Pat is again offering 15% off all January Release Stamps for one week!  In addition to new stamps, Technique Junkies has great art supplies like stencils, art anthology colorations, velvets, and sorbets – which are fabulous dimensional mediums that can be used in such fun ways.

My first card uses some of those Art Anthology mediums in Red Velvet, Mi Bella and Cotton Candy for the background.  The featured stamp called “Love You #SD725” is perfect for ATC backgrounds, but I’ve used it as a focal image.  After white heat embossing “Love You, I applied the three mediums blending each to create a gradient. Behind the focal image is another new release called “Love Script #S697”, which I stamped in a pale shade of blue.  The frame is a My Favorite Things Die that I covered with “Art Anthology Black Leather” paint, which has a glorious shimmer adding that extra pizazz to your card.  I finished off the card with the Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ivory Seashell.  These are super quick drying and self-leveling creating perfect pearl shapes.

january2017-5

My second card uses the “Kraft Resist Technique from the Bodacious Backgrounds CD” with Vintage Photo Distress Inks to make the “Messy Love #S744” stamp stand out.  I cut the Messy Love  panel using a heart die to expose another January stamp called, “Love Script S697”.  In the process of making this card I was really inspired by the theme of love and community so using the people die from My Favorite Things I created two stacks of people holding hands in solidarity. I don’t think this die is being sold anymore, but I really loved how it paired with the TJ January release stamps.

january2017-1

My next card features the gorgeously delicate new stamp called, “Being Yours #SD727.”  For the background I began with a Stencil Girl stencil using “Gessoed Stencil Technique from the Sensational Stencil CD” .  The color is Picked Raspberry Distress Ink applied in an ombre fashion.  The focal image “Being Yours” was embossed using silver sparkle powder.  I cut think strips of silver glitter paper to frame the vellum and finished with sequins and stickles.

Being Yours Close Up

My final project uses the “By Us #SD700” with the technique “Whitewash Chic from the Artistic Effects CD“. I colored the image with distress markers and a fine tipped water brush.  The frame was created by another My Favorite Things half circle die that was popped up for extra dimension. I cut away the sentiment so I could use it as a sentiment.

Technique Junkies Christmas Cards

Hello Junkies!!

We are coming into the home stretch of the Holiday season and I hope you all are taking some time to get a little holiday crafting in before the season passes.  As a tip to be prepared for next year, why don’t you make a few extra cards this December then store them away in preparation for next year!

My first card today uses one of my absolute favorite holiday stamps called “Christmas Dove”.   I created a shaker card after I white heat embossed the dove and colored it with Distressed Stains. For more great ideas using Distress Stains check out the techniques on “Artistic Effects CD”.  The sentiment I used is from “Christmas Ornaments Set of 9″, which is so versatile and can be used as either a holiday or a thank you card.

My second card features “Oh Holy Night”, which I silver heat embossed and stamped over a watercolor background.  This is perfect for mass production.

I want to wish each and every one of you the most wonderful holiday season.  We’ve got some exciting new stamps to feature for you on January 1st so we’ll see you then when the design teams returns for our first Blog Hop of 2017!

Until next year,

The Crafty Nurse

Technique Junkies – 30 Days of Christmas, Day 23

Hello Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse here celebrating Day 23 of the 30 Days Of Christmas.   Pat is generously offering 25% off all holiday stamps over at the Technique Junkies store.

I’ve featured a favorite TJ stamp, “Father Christmas” which I colored with Distress Markers.  The background has another great holiday stamp, called Snowflakes, which I heat embossed in white and used the Stained Resist Tutorial from the Artistic Effects CD.  I finished off with some Distress Mica Spray for some glitz.

12-7-16

We would love for you to follow the Design Team Blog for more Christmas ideas using the Technique Junkies stamps. There are only a few days left so we hope you’ve enjoyed the cards and found inspiration for your holiday card making.

Technique Junkies November Blog Hop! GIVE AWAY

Is it November already? Unbelievable!  It’s almost time for the Technique Junkies 30 Days of Christmas beginning on November 15th over at the Technique Junkie Design Team’s site.  That means every day from November 15th through December 15th prepare to be inspired with wonderful cards for the holidays.

For today though, the Technique Junkies Design Team is showing off the new releases for November.

I had the opportunity to once again meet with Pat at the Hampton Roads stamp show this past month and was able to pick up some fun new products including Art Anthology Products and Nuvo Crystal Drops.  I have to admit I am IN LOVE with these products and was happy to add more to my collection.

As usual, Pat has come up with some great new stamps for this release and I know you are going to love them. Pat is offering 15% off all November Release Stamps for one week!  WooHoo!

I’d also like to welcome two new DT members to the TJ Team.  Ro Donner and Cheri Weston.   Welcome ladies!! I’d love for you to stop by all the design team’s blogs for great ideas and samples of other new November Release stamps.

Whew!  If you’ve made it this far I’m offering a give away for a random commenter of the Coffee with Friends SD734  stamp.  Leave me a comment and I will pick a winner on Sunday, November 6th.

Now, for some inspiration.

My first project features two of the new release stamps. The first is Glowing Branches #S717 and the focal image is Survive Together #SD752.  I used Distress & Archival inks along with Art Anthology “Lava Stone Effects” which gives fabulous texture!

november2
My second card again uses the “Survive Together” stamp this time using trapped resist technique.  I created a base layer with alcohol inks then stamped my image with Versamark and embossed with clear.  I then distressed over the top and coated it with Art Anthology “Dazzle Medium” .  The background is more distress inks which reminds me a little of a cloudy day.

november1

My next project uses the background stamp called “Layered Swirls S719”.  I wanted to remind everyone that you don’t have to use the entire stamp to make a beautiful project.  I began by creating a alcohol inked background on Yupo paper stamped and gold heat embossed the Layered Swirl stamp, then cut out with a leaf die.  The sentiment is another new release called “Trust Your Journey SDX081”

november5

I’ll leave you with one final card and the inspiration for the GIVEAWAY.  This stamp is so sweet and perfect for a friend.  Please leave me a comment below for a chance to win this stamp.  The base of the card is stenciled using “Kona” Art Anthology Paint then sprayed with Distress Inks.  The focal image, “Coffee With Friends SD734″ is stamped on another alcohol ink background. I sprayed the whole think with Distress Mica Spray and it’s really sparkly in real life.

Technique Junkies Blog Hop!

Is it October already?  For me, that means another year older!  It also means it’s time for the Technique Junkie Design Team’s  blog hop showcasing the new Technique Junkies new releases for October.

It’s holiday time here at Technique Junkies and I know you are going to love what the design team has come up with.  Don’t forget that Pat always provides a 15% discount and this month it’s extending through October 10th so stop by the Techniques Junkies Store to score your goodies.  In addition to the stamps, the store is carrying stencils, art anthology colorations, and a variety of new dimensional mediums perfect for those who like to play with ink.

My first card features the gorgeous new stamp “Christmas Ornaments Trio Set of 9 #SS055”. Using a circle template I created multiple “bauble shapes” with Distress Inks in Fossilized Amber, Mustard Seed, and Twisted Citron. Then, using my Misti tool, I stamped the star ornament in this set making sure to mask the tip so it didn’t overlap.  I doodled an edge to frame it and used the Distressed Stain Embossing Technique from the Artistic Effects CD for my background.  The sentiment is also from this set and goes perfectly with this ornament set.

october2

My next card features a clean and simple card (which I hardly EVER do) using “Mistletoe #SD745” stamped repeatedly on the top of a card front.  I colored the leaves with G94, YG03, and R59 Copic Markers, then Distressed the edge with Antique Linen. My sentiment is from “Christmas Ornaments Trio Set of 9 #SS055”

october3

My next card features “Christmas Mug Shot #SD732” that I embossed in white over black card stock spritzed with Dylusions white spray.  For the background, I white embossed “Baubles #S713” then sprayed the background with Art Anthology Colorations in Avocado, Siesta Key’s, and Fern Leaf.

Technique Junkies September Blog Hop!

As those who follow me know, this is my FAVORITE time of the year!  I was so excited to get this batch of Technique Junkies stamps for our Technique Junkies Blog Hop.  The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team  will be showcasing the September release so please make sure to stop by and visit each of us.

Pat is again offering 15% off all September Release Stamps for one week beginning today!  As you know, Technique Junkies is not just stamps but lots of other products including stencils, art anthology colorations, Gelli Plating materials, and a variety of fun dimensional mediums perfect for those who like to play with ink.

My first card features one of my favorites this released called, “Birches #S686” .  The background was created using “Layered Goosebumps” featured on the Artistic Effects CD. The color was added with Distress inks in Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, and Vintage Photo and the focal image is new release, “Pumpkin Guy #SD749” colored with Distress Markers in Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Vintage Photo, and Ground Espresso.  The sentiment is new release, “Happy Halloween #SDX080”.  I’m very happy with the texture created by this technique.

Sept7

My second card features “Witchy Moon #SD761” using the “Dye WhitewashTechnique” with MicaMagic Antique Gold Reinker for the moon and extra splatters.  The sentiment was white heat embossed using “Happy Halloween #SDX080”.  I finished off the edges with a Kylon Gold Pen and added a few flying bats.

Sept6

My next card features “Boo #SD726”  stamped with the Misti tool using “Masked Spellbinders” technique from the “Emboss & Die CD” The ink color is Staz-on in “Cactus Green” and perfect Halloween green.  The background began with “Brick Wall Background #S646” also stamped in Staz-on but with Cloudy Sky color.  I added additional depth with a C1 Copic Marker toward the bottom of each brick and used a color duster to bring in color over the mask. You can’t really see it here, but I finished off with Wink of Stella to give the “boo” style.

Sept3

My final card features “Halloween House #S669” embossed with both Frayed Burlap and Black Soot Distress powders.  I stamped “Witchy Moon” on Tim Holtz tissue paper and collaged it on my background.  My sentiment, “Be Scary SDX086” was stamped on Distress Stained book paper and torn. I thought it would be a cute party invitation.
