Technique Junkies – Watercolored Painted Rings

Hello Junkies!  I’m here today with a Technique Junkies November release stamp called “Painted Rings” which I painted with Jane Davenports “Mermaid Markers”.  Simply stamp and heat emboss the “Painted Rings” with white powder on 140 lb. watercolor paper.  To color, use your Mermaid Markers by coloring a heavy line on the bottom of the bubble and feather out with your aqua brush.

My focal image is another great stamp called “Typewriter Set”. I also colored this with the Mermaid Markers after stamping and heat embossing over watercolor paper.

I hope you find some time to get crafty today.  Please join us over at the Technique Junkies Facebook Page, we’d love to see you!

Technique Junkies April Blog Hop!!

In the Spring we begin to see growth and blooming. That is exactly what we are doing over at Technique Junkies! Growing and Blooming.  We are excited to welcome Jeanne Streiff of the InkyPaws blog as our new Design Team and Social Media Manager here at Technique Junkies.  Welcome Jeanne!!

We’ve also opened up a new Facebook group, which you can immediately join for inspiration and community around our love of technique and stamping.

Now onto the Technique Junkies  April Blog Hop!  The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team  will provide an amazing selection of inspiration for your crafty pleasure.

Pat is again offering 15% off all April Release Stamps for one week!  In addition, you can use a a special design team discount code of TJ10Kathy, to get 10% off anything else (with the exception of the April Release Stamps, the Oxide Inks, or the Clearance Items).

In the spirit of spring, I went to the Subscriber Pages for Technique Junkies and chose techniques from the April/May 2013 section. My first card features “Life is Tough #SD711”.  Isn’t she gorgeous?  I began by making the background which uses the “Snippets Technique” combined with the new Jane Davenport Washi Tape.  A match made in heaven. I stamped her on white card stock using my MISTI tool and versafine black onyx ink, then embossed and fussy cut her out then placing her on a die cut panel.  I finished off with bling and called it fabulous DAHHHHling.

My second card features the April release stamp, “Butterfly Dreams #SD775”.  This card began with the “Design Paper Starburst” tutorial using Basic Grey’s Fresh Cut paper.  I stamped Butterfly Dreams with versamark and clear heat embossed.  Once that set, I distressed over the image to create a soft spring card.

My final card features “Honor and Love #SD797”, which I stamped over “Faux Paint Swatch” technique using Hero Arts Shadow Inks in Soft Granite and Mint Julip and Hero Arts Hybrid in Apple Green. My background is embossed with We R’ Memory Keepers geometric folder.

Now, that I’ve shown you what I have to offer, I don’t want you to miss any of the other design teams creativity so I encourage you to start hopping at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.

From The Heart Stamps March Blog Hop!

Welcome to our From the Heart Stamps blog hop. This month the theme is “Spring”.

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each blog. One random commenter will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from the FTHS store.

If you have arrived from Kathy Curry’s website, you are in the right place, if not why don’t you start on the From the Heart Stamps blog, so you don’t miss anything.

My Spring card today features “Hamlet Pigwit in the Planter”, which I colored using a few new colors of Daniel Smith watercolors.  When I watercolor digital images, I used lightweight watercolor paper at 90 lbs and let your ink dry completely before you start.  You may get some bleeding, but that is okay to use for shading.

Now head over to Kelly Schelske’s and see what she has created.

Thanks for hopping with us today and may your spring days be thoroughly enjoyed.  Our hop will end on Sunday March 12th 2017 at 6 am, and the winners will be posted on Wednesday March 15th at the From the Heart Stamps Blog.  Please also visit us at the From the Heart Stamps Facebook group to share you cards and projects.

Cards in Envy Challenge – Red & Blue!

This Cards in Envy Challenge, which is named, “Roses are Red, Violets are Blue”, is a color challenging using the colors red and blue.  You don’t have to use roses or violets, just the color red and blue.  Don’t worry, the white in your card base does not matter.

Here at Cards in Envy we ask that you make your card fit into a standard A2 envelope.  This challenge will run through Sunday, March 5th.

My card uses the My Favorite Things stamp and die set called, “Geometric Greenery”.  I stamped and cut out the images in hot press watercolor paper which I prefer as it’s very smooth.  I then colored with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush.  I then used the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangles to cut out two panels.  I don’t do a lot of clean and simple cards so this was really fun.

I hope you will join us at Cards in Envy this week and show us your Red & Blue cards!

Technique Junkies January Blog Hop!

We are ringing in the New Year with a Blog Hop for the January Technique Junkies  new release.  The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team  will provide an amazing  selection of inspiration for your enjoyment.

Pat is again offering 15% off all January Release Stamps for one week!  In addition to new stamps, Technique Junkies has great art supplies like stencils, art anthology colorations, velvets, and sorbets – which are fabulous dimensional mediums that can be used in such fun ways.

My first card uses some of those Art Anthology mediums in Red Velvet, Mi Bella and Cotton Candy for the background.  The featured stamp called “Love You #SD725” is perfect for ATC backgrounds, but I’ve used it as a focal image.  After white heat embossing “Love You, I applied the three mediums blending each to create a gradient. Behind the focal image is another new release called “Love Script #S697”, which I stamped in a pale shade of blue.  The frame is a My Favorite Things Die that I covered with “Art Anthology Black Leather” paint, which has a glorious shimmer adding that extra pizazz to your card.  I finished off the card with the Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ivory Seashell.  These are super quick drying and self-leveling creating perfect pearl shapes.

january2017-5

My second card uses the “Kraft Resist Technique from the Bodacious Backgrounds CD” with Vintage Photo Distress Inks to make the “Messy Love #S744” stamp stand out.  I cut the Messy Love  panel using a heart die to expose another January stamp called, “Love Script S697”.  In the process of making this card I was really inspired by the theme of love and community so using the people die from My Favorite Things I created two stacks of people holding hands in solidarity. I don’t think this die is being sold anymore, but I really loved how it paired with the TJ January release stamps.

january2017-1

My next card features the gorgeously delicate new stamp called, “Being Yours #SD727.”  For the background I began with a Stencil Girl stencil using “Gessoed Stencil Technique from the Sensational Stencil CD” .  The color is Picked Raspberry Distress Ink applied in an ombre fashion.  The focal image “Being Yours” was embossed using silver sparkle powder.  I cut think strips of silver glitter paper to frame the vellum and finished with sequins and stickles.

My final project uses the “By Us #SD700” with the technique “Whitewash Chic from the Artistic Effects CD“. I colored the image with distress markers and a fine tipped water brush.  The frame was created by another My Favorite Things half circle die that was popped up for extra dimension. I cut away the sentiment so I could use it as a sentiment.

Technique Junkies May Blog Hop!!

It’s the first of the month and you know what that means, right? It’s time for a Technique Junkies  Blog Hop featuring the new May release!  The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team  will provide an amazing selection of inspiration for your enjoyment so make sure you stop by and check them out.

Pat is again offering 15% off all May Release Stamps for one week! In addition to new stamps, Technique Junkies has great art supplies like Gelli Plates, stencils, dimensional paints, sprays, and so much more.

This month, I am offering a Technique Junkies Stamp to a random commenter on this post.  Please make sure you tell me which is your favorite card this month.

For the background of my first card I used the “Metallic Bands” technique from the Technique Junkies October 2006 newsletter with Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink and Silver Hero Arts ink. The focal image is “London ATC #SD721” which I stamped in archival ink and used the “Dipped Stain” Technique from “Artistic Effects CD”.  The Mustache and sentiment are also new for May called, “London Calling Set of 9 SS056”.

April1-2016

When I received this next stamp set for this May release I was thrilled.  This set is a smaller version of several of the Palettini ladies as well as some great new sentiments called, “Beautiful Faces PS016”.  My favorite has always been this African girl – I just love her head piece. I knew I wanted some bright colors so I brought out bright washi tape using the “Washi Paper Piecing Technique” from the August 2006 Newsletter.

April2-2016 copy

My next card features the sentiment “Behave Yourself SDX072”. The background is a super fun technique called “Textured Pearls” from the December 2007 Technique Junkies Newsletter.  I then ran it through using a We R Memory Keepers folder and cut it out using a Simon Says Stamp stitched frame die.

April3-2016 copy

My final project uses the gorgeous sentiment “Life Full of Love SD682”.  The background Blueprint Sketch and Hickory Smoke Distress ink using the Dip Stain technique from Artistic Effects CD.  I sprayed the flowers with Art Anthology Colorations in “Raiders”.

A Day For Daisies: Vintage Hat’s 4-15-16

It’s Friday and today at A Day For Daisies we are showcasing the Vintage Hat Collection!  I’d also like to remind you we are still playing the “Add Lace” Challenge that ends on April 21st at Noon so come on by and enter while you can.

To highlight this collection, I made a card using “Vintage Dried Rose.”  This gorgeous image stands on its own.  I used Zig Clean Clear Brush Markers on watercolor paper with no water, only blending the markers with lighter markers.  This helps reduce the bleeding from the printed image.  Also, always let it dry well.  The sentiment is WPlus 9 and the circle die is My Favorite Things.

Pat is again offering 15% off all April Release Stamps for one week!  In addition to new stamps, Technique Junkies has great art supplies like Gelli Plates, stencils, dimensional paints, sprays, and so much more.

My first card uses two techniques from the “Artistic Effects CD. The background is the “Distress Stain Dip” technique and the focal image featuring “Stylized Roses SD666” uses the “Gelato’s Direct” technique.  I also did some additional stamping on the focal image using “French Text #S246”.  I absolutely love the spring feel of this gorgeous stamp.

April1

My second card features the April release “Elegant Mums S658” using the “Embossed Gelatos Technique from the Artistic Effects CD”.  For the sentiment, I used “With Sympathy #SS049”

April3

My next card features the cuddly new stamp called, “Bear With Flowers MC005” which I colored with Zig Clean Clear Brush Markers.  I created the texture using the “Ghostly Spatters Technique from the Artistic Effects CD.”  I love the playfulness of this new stamp.

For my final project I used the “I Love Rainbows” stamp.  To create the rainbow I applied my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers in ROYGBV order.  The Background is the “Houndstooth Check #S665″ stamp using the Blended Stain Technique from Artistic Effects CD.
