Cards in Envy Challenge: Red, White & Blue

Happy Monday!  That means it’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and this week we are celebrating the good old “Red, White & Blue”!  Your card does not have to be patriotic, just needs to use those colors.

Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 envelope.  The challenge will run through Sunday, July 16th and our design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

My card design was based off one from a favorite artist, Sandy Allnock.  She is inspirational and has some great card making tutorials, especially if you like coloring.

I look forward to seeing your Red, White & Blue cards this week! I wish all a safe and relaxing 4th of July filled with friends, family and fireworks!

A Blog Named Hero – Friendship Flags – Geometric Challenge

Hello!  The Crafty Nurse here with a project using Hero Arts stamps for the “Geometric” challenge at A Blog Named Hero.

For my card today I began by creating a rainbow background by gold heat embossing Hero Arts “Tiny Flags” and using distress inks in rainbow order. Geometric cards can really be fun as they create such sharp and clean lines. Using the Hero Arts Friendship Definition stamp as my base background, I chose a friend sentiment as my focal image.

I hope you’ll join us at A Blog Named Hero for our October “Geometric” Card Challenge!  See you there!

Cards in Envy Challenge: White on White

Happy Monday!  That means it’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and this week we are celebrating White on White cards! Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 envelope without any large lumps or bumps.

The challenge will run through Sunday, January 31st and our design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.

For my card I started with Our Daily Bread’s gorgeous “Vintage Flourish Pattern Dies” and stamped the Alte New “Oriental Orchid”  around the edges and finishing off with the Thank You sentiment in the same set.

I cut out and popped up the Celebrate die from My Favorite Things.  The stars are dies from Papertrey Ink.  This gorgeous star paper is from Our Daily Bread’s Patriotic Collection.  To finish off, I used Bazzill’s Blueberry Cardshoppe Cardstock for the card base.

Color Challenge Header

For my card this week, I stamped Repeat Impressions “Iris Window 919-I” three times to create a scene across the card.  I colored the Iris’ with Copic Markers and trimmed them out using the technique from my April Project of the Week (April POTW Here).

To frame the images I used some Memory Foil Tape and backed it with Bazzil card stock.  The embossing folder for the background is Darice, which was done after I cut it out using a Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle die.

Cards in Envy Challenge – Make it a Banner Year!

Happy New Year friends!  With the holidays over, it’s time to get back into some card making challenges again!  Today I’m posting my design team entry for the Cards in Envy challenge “Make it a Banner Year”.  This challenges calls for using a banner of any type.  Flag banners, label banners, tag banners, you name it, be creative.  As usual, the only rule is your card must fit into a standard A2 envelope for ease of mailing.  The design team will be choosing their favorites and the winners will be posted on the Cards in Envy Blog.

Now, ready for some inspiration?  With all the Christmas cards I’ve made lately, I was in the mood to make a love card as we prepare for Valentines Day.  If you are also a supporter of Operation Write Home, Love cards are one of the most needed cards and perfect for OWH anytime.

My card uses the 6 x 6 design pack called, “Black & White” by Glitz.  I stamped the Simon Says Stamp “Sending Happy Thoughts” envelope on the Glitz paper and strung them up using some waxy thread from Close to My Heart.  The LOVE sentiment are Basic Grey stickers and the “you” sentiment is from Winnie & Walter’s “Big Bold You”.  I used a heart die to cut out some red cardstock from Bazzil and covered it with Glossy Accents.  Finally, a sprinkling of sequence and gems to finish it off.

I can’t wait to see what your Banner Year looks like!

A Day For Daisies Traditional Christmas

This sweet image is from A Day For Daisies that I colored using Copics and Basic Grey’s 25th & Pine collection.  The die is Spellbinders.  I finished him off with a little white gel pen.  Thanks for stopping by!

My Favorite Things Snowman & Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday.  I’m finally feeling a little better having had my tooth pulled a few days ago.  Thankfully, I was on vacation this week so really had nothing to do but heal and rest.  I changed up my normal card making and brought out my Prismacolor Pencils after I watched this video from Jennifer McQuire on coloring.  I have never felt that I could get the same vibrancy with pencils as I can with Copics, but I think it’s about practice, so I thought I’d give it a whirl.  The My Favorite Things stamp set was from a previous Operation Write Home grab bag. There are still some available so check it out.   The hill is Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Borders.

My second card is using the My Favorite Things Sketch 204.  I used last years Simon Says Stamp Christmas Card Kit and a MFT Snowflake and Sentiment.

Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit – Warm Your Heart

Here is another card using the Simon Says Stamp November card kit.  I did substitute the card base with a Bazzill Peanut Fudge card stock as I didn’t like any of the colors I had left.  The design is based on Sketch Saturday #336 by Cathy.  This is a very versatile sketch.  I added some Lawn Fawn bling and the focal image is simply from the design paper.
