Technique Junkies May Release Blog Hop!
Happy May 1st! It’s time for another Technique Junkies Blog Hop. For this hop, we are celebrating the new May Release at the Technique Junkies Store.
Pat is offering 15% off all May Release Stamps for one week! I’ve also got a discount code: TJ10Kathy, that can be used for anything else in the store when you are shopping. WooHoo!
The Technique Junkies team is growing and we are thrilled to have added several new team members to the group. Please stop by all the design team’s blogs for great samples of the other new May Release stamps.
My first card uses two of the new May release stamps:
Technique: Sparkling Resist June/July 2009 – Subscriber Pages
- Stamp “Pocket Watches” with Hero Arts Soft Brown Shadow Ink. Let dry and dust with anti-static bag
- Surgically alter (i.e. cut apart) “Hat’s off To Dad” so that you have isolated just the hats. Don’t be afraid, you can always place back together if needed.
- Stamp “Hat’s Off To Dad” in a row using Versamark Ink and clear heat emboss
- Apply darker ink over entire card base – I used Frayed Burlap. This allows for the stamp below to shine beautifully through.
- Using Misti position “Hat’s Off To Dad” sentiment onto card stock. I used distress markers to isolate the different parts of the stamp. Using the Misti allows for repeat coverage needed when using distress markers. Once well inked, now apply Versamark ink and clear heat emboss. That allows you to ink over entire image and not ruin the sentiment

My second card features the same two stamps in a similar idea using translucent paste and stencils.
Stamps:
Technique: Pasted Resist from the Sensational Stencils CD
- Stamp “Pocket Watches” with Hero Arts Soft Sand Shadow Ink.
- Over the top, apply translucent modeling paste through “Stonework Stencil” from a Colorful Life and let dry
- Spray entire card with Bronze Distress Mica Spray and gently wipe off to reveal sparkle
- Fussy Cut “Hat’s Off To Dad” and apply with foam tape
- Stamp sentiment “Happy Father’s Day” on card stock you have lightly sprayed or inked through stencil to add texture – distress edges and mat card.

My third card switches gears for a more feminine card using Perfect Pearls, which is hard to see in this photo but is so wonderfully shimmery.
Stamps:
Technique: Faux Canvas from Emboss or Die CD (which is on a deep sale).

My final card is plays with a little hand doodling and some straight forward stamping.
Stamp: “Own Kind of Beautiful SDX077”
- Cut 4 x 5.25 inch card panel out of Club Scrap textured card stock then die cut using My Favorite Things Frame Die.
- Use stamp positioner and stamp “Own Kind of Beautiful” in the center
- Hand Doodle around edges
- Die Cut WPlus9 flowers from Love Mom collection and add sparkles on top
- Splatter ink, I used Liquitex Ink in Carbon Black.
- Color in heart with Wink of Stella silver

Technique Junkies March Blog Hop!
It’s the first of the month and that means it’s time for a Technique Junkies Blog Hop showcasing the new March release! The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team will provide an amazing selection of inspiration for your enjoyment.
Pat is again offering 15% off all March Release Stamps for one week! If you haven’t been over to the Technique Junkies store recently, there are a lot of great new stencils as well as other great art supplies for your creative journey.
My first card today showcases my favorite stamp of the bunch simply called, “Queen SD787”. Using my Misti, I stamped her several times with Versafine Black Onyx ink and clear heat embossed her. I then brought out some watercolors, specifically, the new Daniel Smith color called ” Purpurite Genuite – STUNNING. I also used some Hematite for shading. The background started with the new Jane Davenport papers that you can purchase from Michael’s put together using the “Tie it Together” technique from TJ December 2014 subscriber pages.
My next card features the new stamp, “We Pour #SD755” using a version of “Distressed Stained Dip Technique in the Artistic Effects CD.” Instead of Distress Stains, I used traditional Distress Inks from the standard size pads and applied them to my craft mat. This was actually the second generation, hence the lighter application. The colors are Faded Jeans and Gathered Twigs.
My next card uses the “Sweet Baby Set of 4 #SS072” stamped with the background called, Gessstencil Crayons, also from the December 2014 TJ Subscriber pages. My watercolor crayons are Neocolor II’s in a Yellow Green and Turquoise and stencil is a Tim Holtz design. For the focal image, I did a some stitching around the sweet baby shoes because something about stitching and baby goes together for me. I chose one of the three sentiments in this new set and added rub-on stitching to the edge of the card as well. Perhaps this will bring my boys some inspiration to make me a grandmother!!
My final card showcases “Big Bunny #S685” using “Antique Glimmers” technique from December 2009 Subscriber Pages. It’s hard to pick up but he’s so shimmery. My sentiment “Kindness Matters #SDx026” is perfect for this sweet bunny and so important to remember as we go through our day.
Now, that I’ve shown you what I have to offer, I don’t want you to miss any of the other design teams creativity so I encourage you to start hopping at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.
If you are arriving from Cheri’s Blog, you in the right place! Gorgeous cards my friend!

My sentiment is Repeat Impressions, I Thank… 2523-G and I finished off with some Uniball Signo White Gel Pen dots.

Technique Junkies Vintage Travel Page
Hello Fellow Junkies!
The Crafty Nurse here with a mixed media journal page using some of the new February Technique Junkie Stamps. I hope you’ve had a chance to check out this fabulous release on the Technique Junkie Design Team page, if not, I encourage you to do so. Pat is also offering all February Release stamps at 15% off until February 8th.
I began my page with Tim Holtz tissue paper then applied distress paint in Vintage Photo, Broken China, and Walnut Stain. I then added a watery layer of gesso and wiped that around with a baby wipe. I then took “Houndstooth Check S665” and stamped over the page in Versamark mark ink. So that you don’t get hard edges, just curl your stamp and roll instead of stamping the entire thing. I then added gold perfect pearls for some shimmer. Over that, I stenciled gold ferro paste over a Tim Holtz’s “traveler” stencil.
The numbers, Paris Tower, and tag are all My Favorite Things dies cut from travel themed paper. On the tag, I stamped the couple from “Vintage Travel Cases PS012″ in Sepia archival ink and the sentiment in black archival ink. I like the way the fade off on the bottom.
The suitcases are also from “Vintage Travel Cases PS012.” I began by stamping different suitcases with a variety of inks. I stenciled over them with Art Anthology “Cracked” stencil and then layered that with rock candy distress stickles and let them dry. I then adhered all the elements with matte gel medium and created shading with a Faber Castell Pit pen in brown. To finish I colored up some wooden planes also with the pitt pen and called it a Technique Junkies Vintage Travel Page.
Well, that’s my page for today, I hope you’ve enjoyed a a little inspiration. I’ll see you in a couple weeks for more fun with the February release at Technique Junkies.
As always, Happy Inking
Technique Junkies Blog Hop!
We are ringing in the New Year with a Blog Hop for the January Technique Junkies new release. The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team will provide an amazing selection of inspiration for your perusal.
Pat is again offering 15% off all January Release Stamps for one week! In addition to new stamps, Technique Junkies has great art supplies like stencils, art anthology colorations, velvets, and sorbets – which are great dimensional mediums perfect for those who like to play with ink.
My first card uses the “Distressed Stain Dip” from the Simple & Easy Inking CD for the background. The stains used were Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon, and Mustard Seed. The focal image is “Happy Valentines Day #SD651” which I embossed in white and fussy cut. I created a small shaker and used a Simon Says Stamp stitched die for the background panel.
My second card uses the ““Stained Embossing Technique from the Simple & Easy Inking Techniques CD” using Squeezed Lemonade and Tumbled Glass and put through the We R Memory Keepers embossing folder. For my focal image I used “Marilyn SD #655” which I colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Watercolor Markers and added “Vegas Gold Sorbet” for her hair. My sentiment is “Better Things SDX063” white heat embossed.
My next card features the hip new stamp called, “Blue Jeans #S643.” I created the texture using “Frosted Distress Stencil from the Sensational Stencil CD” with the “Cracked Stencil by Art Anthology” and Hero Arts Stone Wash and Wet Cement inks. The “frosted” element was silver perfect pearls mixed with water and stamped through the stencil. I used the “Better Things SDX063” sentiment which was white heat embossed.
My final project uses the “Bookworms #SS054” stamp to create a corner bookmark perfect for a handmade gift. I also used “Faint Scratches #S518” and “Here We Go In Circles #SS030.”
Now, that I’ve shown you what I have to offer, I don’t want you to miss any of the other design teams creativity so I encourage you to start hopping at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.
If you are arriving from Marilyn’s Blog, you in the right place! Gorgeous project Marilyn!

Technique Junkies – New York, New York
Hello Fellow Junkies!!
It’s The Crafty Nurse here with two clean and simple cards for you using Technique Junkies stamp called “Watercolor New York #S633.”
For my first card uses the “Rubbed Gelato’s Technique from the Artistic Effects CD in rainbow order after I white heat emboss my image. I then used the Lawn Fawn Stitched border dies to create faux stitching to separate my colors.
My second card uses the “Pearlized Gelato’s Technique” also from the Artistic Effects CD. I dripped the gelato’s mixed with perfect pears off the top of the card base then sprayed with water and allowed to dry. I love how this one came out.
I hope you are finding some time to get inky today even if it is a week before Christmas!! Also, I can’t wait to show you the new January Release for Technique Junkies with the much anticipated Blog Hop on January 1st.
Bye, Bye for now!
Simon Says Stamp January Card Kit #1
I got my January Simon Says Stamp card kit in the mail yesterday and wow it’s a purple lovers dream. It’s got some great sentiments and I needed a few thank you cards for Christmas gifts so I made this card. I started by making a purple mist from the perfect pearls in the kit and then grabbed a turquoise perfect pearl from my stash to make a second mist. I sprayed both mists to make the background and stamped the white pigment ink using the kit’s stamp set and embossed with clear. The frame is from My Favorite Things and the stamps in the left corner are stickers from the kit. I finished off with some Doodlebug sequins from my stash.
Thanks for stopping by!
