Hello Fellow Junkies!!
Kathy, The Crafty Nurse here.
It’s almost time for the September Blog Hop tomorrow and in preparation for that, I’ve created a Halloween card using last years September Release called “Black Cat #SD615”. He’s stamped on a background of Distress Watercolor.
Please join us in the morning for the Design Teams showcase of September 2016 Technique Junkies release.
See you there!!
It’s the second Wednesday of June and that means it’s time for a Designers Choice Challenge at The House That Stamp Built! Today, Deonna is hosting our challenge and she has chosen “Use Two or More Stamps.”
For my “Use Two or More Stamps” I started by heat embossing the new Flower Power 102 Background on watercolor paper, then used Dylusions Ink to paint on watercolor over the entire thing. The sentiment is Because 8622-D also white heat embossed on black card stock.
I sure hope you break out your creativity for “Use Two of More Stamps” this week at The House that Stamps Built. Happy Wednesday!
Here are some more card backgrounds I made with the Bokeh technique and watercolors. If you haven’t seen the video, check it out HERE.
Using Simon Says Stamp sentiment from “Happy Every Day”
Using Paper Smooches “Bold Buzzwords”
Using WPlus9 “Hand Lettered Thanks”
The technique for this card was to make your own background. I used the Sketchbook Saturday Sketch as a base, then used one of my favorite techniques taught by Julie Ebersole using Dylusions Ink Spray and Water. It’s really easy and looks great. All you do is emboss your image with white and then spray it down (really well) with water. Take a paint brush and apply ink by blotting in the puddles. It initially doesn’t look great but when it dries, it lightens. Sentiment is WPlus9 “Hand Lettered Hello”.
I watched an excellent video by Julie Ebersole on Hello Monday for Ellen Hutson who used Dylusion’s Ink to watercolor stamped and embossed images. It’s so easy you won’t believe it. All you need is a lot of water – I mean A LOT OF WATER and a little bit of pigment. I’m really happy with the way these turned out. I used “Laurel’s” by Avery Elle for the Thinking of you sentiment and “Super Script” from Alte New for the Hello sentiment. Hope you give this a try!
This is another water color image from class using the Penny Black “Blooming Garden” set. The paper pad is 6 x 6 Basic Grey’s “Fresh Cut” – I do love this paper! The sketch is from Sweet Sunday 220, another great challenge blog. I’m really happy with the way these tulips came out. They are done with distress inks and water. The frame around the designer paper is washi from Lily Bee and came with a previous Simon Says Stamp card kit. The sentiment is from WPlus9 “Fanciful Feathers”. Also entered in The Paper Players “Clean & Simple with Flowers”, Case Study 191, and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.
Getting some cards made from Day 3’s Online Card Classes Watercolor Stamping. I used Posh Impressions Stamps and WPlus9 Sentiment from Fanciful Feathers. This is again the 2nd generation stamping, which is coming out much better than the first stamping. The background is a simple watercolor wash placed in an embossing folder from Darice.
This card is using Gelatos colored on a pallet then adding perfect pearls and water to make a watercolor wash on Watercolor Paper from Tim Holtz. Makes for a lovely shiny background. The stamps are from my stash and are an unknown company. Entered in Our Daily Bread Challenge for Operation Write Home
