Cards in Envy Challenge “Be Mine”

As we get closer to Valentine’s day, here at Cards in Envy we are having a “Be Mine” challenge. Cards in Envy challenge entries can be any size as long as they fit within a standardized A2 Envelope.

For my card today, I used a few different Hero Arts products.  The first is last years Hero Arts January Card Kit, which is no longer available, but new kits come out monthly.  I also used Hero Arts “Love” Stamp and Cut, which has both the stamp and the die in one package.

The background is created with a Rhonda Palazarri stencil that I applied with white Pan Pastels. Using Pan Pastel’s in stencils is a fabulous because the paint doesn’t seep through the other side and you get a really nice image.  I blurred out the background to get a little more cohesion, which I felt looked “cloudy” and lovey.

After doing my stamping and die cutting, I applied a strip of American Crafts black glitter paper over American Crafts design paper called “Valentine”.  I edged the hearts in black Tombow and popped them up with foam tape for dimension.

I do hope you will join us at Cards in Envy this week and show us your “Be Mine” cards.  The challenge will run through February 19th and we look forward to seeing your entries!

For my project, I wanted to feature “Snow Girl” using a Valentine theme.  This past week I received the Splitcoast Stampers newsletter and saw a cool four (4) Way card by Dina Kowal so I immediately thought what a great way to feature this adorable image.  I colored this sweet snow girl with my Copic Markers in R85, R83, R81, W5, W3, & W1.  My design paper is American Crafts “Valentine” collection I found at AC more for dirt cheap.  The heart die is from Nellie’s Dies and has several sizes to choose from.  I used a few embellishments from the My Favorite Things Tag Blueprints 5 die.   The image is floating in the heart by a bit of bakers twine in pink.

Technique Junkies – Silver & Gold

Christmas is almost here Junkies and today I’ve got a little holiday inspiration for you.  I hope you get a chance to get inky this holiday week, I know I will.

For my card I began by stamping “Christmas Tree, Set of 6” with Flitterglu and applied Indigo Blu Mega Flake in Chariots of Faire and Winter Dawn.  I did the same process with the fabulous “Snowflakes” stamp then sprayed it all with “Gilded Gold” Fairy Dust by Art Anthology.

For my card base I created an interlocking die background by cutting a flag die out of Silver and Gold pattern paper then lined them up to create a fun background.  This is a take on the Herringbone background that I learned by Shari Carroll.  For my sentiment I used the Tim Holtz Holiday words “noel” die.

We here at Technique Junkies wish each and every one of you and your families the most wonderful holidays and look forward to showing you the great new release coming on January 1st!

Cards in Envy “Put Some Layers On It” Challenge

It’s Monday and time for another Cards In Envy Challenge.  This challenge is really unique with a theme of “Put Some Layers On It.” Instead of going for paper layers, I looked around at some of my digital images and found a “Layered Cake” by Sassy Cheryl Designs that I knew would be perfect for this challenge.

Before we get to the card, just a reminder that the Cards in Envy rules are simple and require only that your card fit into a A2 standard envelope.

For my card today I began by coloring “Polly’s Slice of Cake” by Sassy Cheryl’s Designs.  Unfortunately, she is no longer in the store, but you can find other great images by Cheryl for you image.  I added additional layers using American Crafts “Neapolitan” collection and stamped the background with a My Favorite Things Crosshatch background stamp.  I then added the balloons, which are also My Favorite Things dies.

I sure hope we see you at Cards in Envy “Put Some Layers On It” challenge.  You have until December 6th to enter.

For my card I used a sweet Little Miss Muffet digital stamp called, “Kiki Ice cream”, which I colored with Copic Markers.  I created a freehand frame with my Micron Pigma Pen in .5 and gave her some grass to stand on.  I added stamped elements from Paper Smooches “Sugar Rush” collection and a label by My Favorite Things.  The paper is American Craft’s Dear Lizzy “Neapolitan” cut out with a Simon Says Stamp die. I finished off with some lemon bakers twine.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with using the new Sketch Saturday Sketch!

It’s another busy day at the Crafty Nurse’s Blog.  Here is another card using one of my favorite digital companies, A Day For Daisies.  I always try to enter this challenge because I love coloring the images and hope to win more!  Right now, this image is FREE on the challenge site.   I colored this sweet image with Copic Markers and used American Crafts “#Summer” paper pack. The flower dies are from WPlus9, the rectangle dies are Lawn Fawn, and the frame die is MFT.  Finally, the background is impression obsession and the sentiment is Simon Says Stamp “Circle Sayings”.
