A Blog Named Hero – Vellum
Hello! The Crafty Nurse here with a little Hero Arts inspiration for the Vellum challenge at A Blog Named Hero.
Vellum can be a bit challenging to use in your card making, but I love the way that it can mute down a bright design for a more subtle mood. The other question is how do you adhere the vellum without seeing the adhesive? The way I chose was to use brads. I’m sure you all have some of those in your stash, I know I sure do!
I began by creating a cluster of circles using multiple Hero Arts Shadow Inks. I heat embossed the Lil’ Inker’s Modern Mehndi stamp for the sentiment and finished off with Hero Arts pearls.
I hope you’ll join us at A Blog Named Hero for our June Vellum Card Challenge! This month we are collaborating with Lil’ Inker so I’ll be back later this month with more inspiration using their great stamps!
The House That Stamps Built; Frames: Oval & Round Celebration & Chance to Win Free Stamps
Hello stamping friends. I’m again happy to announce that Repeat Impressions is celebrating the new release of “Frames: Oval & Round,” a NEW stamp series featuring great oval and round frames. As with our Flower Power release, we will be featuring the Repeat Impressions Rock Stars who will post new creations on The House that Stamps Built blog beginning Thursday June 2nd thru Sunday, June 5th.
All the images are available as wood mount stamps or as plain, unmounted rubber individually. If you prefer, the complete series is available as a plain unmounted sheet of rubber so that you can get ALL 6 stamps in this series at a huge savings.
On Monday, June 6th Wendy will announce the winner on Repeat’s Facebook page so be sure to “Like” and follow them there if you don’t already.
Here’s my card using Repeat Impressions “Dotted Oval Frame LgPower 10501-Q, Sea Horse (lg)4101-K, and Grass Border, (lg) 1507-J” to create an underwater scene. I created a mortice mask by stamping the dotted oval and cutting out the center so that I could both stamp and ink in the center without getting ink outside the oval. The center is inked with Soft Olive Hero Arts Shadow Ink. Once I completed that, I stamped the Dotted Oval again on top of the inked edges using Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Forever Green. The seahorse was colored with Tombow Markers 076 and N57 which I applied with a blender pen from a palette.
My second card features the Wavy Circle Frame 10506-J using the same mortice masking technique as above. The ink used is a combination of Antique Linen Distress and Cup 0′ Joe Hero Arts Shadow. The focal image is Party Dog 7117-G with sentiment You Rock 8711-C. My background is stenciled with Art Anthology crackle.
We hope you enjoy the new Frames; Oval & Round Series at Repeat Impressions Stamps. Don’t forget to stop by the The House that Stamps Built blog from June 2nd through Jun 5th for a chance to win free stamps!
