It’s Saturday and time for a new Send a Smile 4 Kids challenge! Today, we break through the winter blues to celebrate an Easter/Spring theme. You have until Friday, February 19th, 2016 to enter. As usual we have some great sponsors who have generously offered prizes to our randomly chosen winners. They are:
1) A Day For Daisies offering a prize of: $12 Gift Certificate
2) The Cutting Cafe offering a prize of: $15 Gift Certificate
For my card today I used a sweet image by A Day For Daisies called, ““Easter Friend”. I used a liquid mask to cover the image and create a watercolor background using pencils. I then removed the mask and completed the image with Copic Markers. The flowers are from My Favorite Things dies as are the circles and the sun. The background is cut using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched die on Glitz “Hello Darling” paper.
We hope you’ll join us over at Send A Smile 4 Kids for our challenge. We’d also love it if you would consider donating some of your cards to hospitalized children. Here’s how.
Happy Saturday! I’m really excited for todays new Sketch Saturday challenge because I created the sketch! It’s a very simple sketch, but I love it because it allows the image to be the focus. This is especially important for this week because our sponsor is A Day For Daisies an absolute favorite of mine. Tammy, the creator of A Day For Daisies, is offering a very generous $12.00 gift certificate to her store for our random winner! You have until Friday, February 12th for a chance to win.
Here’s my sketch:
My card features the stunning image from A Day For Daisies called, Doll Face 5.” I colored her with Copic Markers and used watercolor pencils for the background. The sentiment is from the Amazing stamp set by My Favorite Things as is the oval die. The banner die is Simon Says Stamp and the Scallop die is Spellbinders.
We’d love for you to join us for Sketch #398 at Sketch Saturday!
Today at A Day For Daisies the design team has chosen some of their favorite love images from the ADFD Store to showcase the “Love” challenge. The inspiration for this challenge is this great collage.
My card today uses Mr. Right, a vintage image featuring an in love couple. I started with Copic Markers, added a bit of watercolor pencil, and finished off with Art Anthology “Splash” which is a dimensional paint that is transparent and sparkly. I then embossed the whole image with a We R Memory Keepers folder, used a few My Favorite Things Die’s, added a sentiment from the new Hero Arts kit, and cut out the card base with a Spellbinders scallop die.
Here is another card from Day 2 of Online Card Classes this time using watercolor pencils to make a background wash. Agnieszka Malyszek showed us a really cool technique that uses shavings from your watercolor pencils reconstituted with water to make this wash. Ironically, I used my stamp-a-jig to get a straight sentiment (by Amy R of CC Designs), but I guess it’s late and I’m tired – oh well. The stamp is from Penny Black and the background is Impression Obsessions “Scratches” stamp.
