Joyeux Noel – Technique Junkies

The Crafty Nurse here with more inspiration using the October Technique Junkies release.  You have only a few days left to claim your 15% off discount on this new release for the holidays.

I started my card sing the Pasted Resist Technique from the Sensational Stencil CD found at Technique Junkies.  I then sprayed with Art Anthology Colorations in Avocado, Leaf, and Sandcastle.  So I didn’t cover all that gorgeous texture, I used only a portion of the “Baubles S713″ background stamp as a strip of interest then added another new October Release sentiment called, “Joyeux SDX087”.   My red background was created by spraying Color Wash Spray in Red Pepper and a spritz of Dylusions White Linen spray for “snow”.

Stop by Technique Junkies store to pick up some great supplies for your inky pleasure!  Don’t forget, we are also celebrating 30 Days of Christmas at the TJ Design Team Blog beginning on October 15th through November 15th.  Hope you’ll join us.

For my card this week I used Repeat Impressions “Plate 2300” which is a collection of Halloween images. I started by creating the background by stenciling black pan pastel through the Tim Holtz web stencil.  I then stamped the Repeat Impression bats and spider webs on a blue panel.  My sentiment is also from the Halloween Plate 2300.

Technique Junkies Blog Hop!

Is it October already?  For me, that means another year older!  It also means it’s time for the Technique Junkie Design Team’s  blog hop showcasing the new Technique Junkies new releases for October.

It’s holiday time here at Technique Junkies and I know you are going to love what the design team has come up with.  Don’t forget that Pat always provides a 15% discount and this month it’s extending through October 10th so stop by the Techniques Junkies Store to score your goodies.  In addition to the stamps, the store is carrying stencils, art anthology colorations, and a variety of new dimensional mediums perfect for those who like to play with ink.

My first card features the gorgeous new stamp “Christmas Ornaments Trio Set of 9 #SS055”. Using a circle template I created multiple “bauble shapes” with Distress Inks in Fossilized Amber, Mustard Seed, and Twisted Citron. Then, using my Misti tool, I stamped the star ornament in this set making sure to mask the tip so it didn’t overlap.  I doodled an edge to frame it and used the Distressed Stain Embossing Technique from the Artistic Effects CD for my background.  The sentiment is also from this set and goes perfectly with this ornament set.

october2

My next card features a clean and simple card (which I hardly EVER do) using “Mistletoe #SD745” stamped repeatedly on the top of a card front.  I colored the leaves with G94, YG03, and R59 Copic Markers, then Distressed the edge with Antique Linen. My sentiment is from “Christmas Ornaments Trio Set of 9 #SS055”

october3

My next card features “Christmas Mug Shot #SD732” that I embossed in white over black card stock spritzed with Dylusions white spray.  For the background, I white embossed “Baubles #S713” then sprayed the background with Art Anthology Colorations in Avocado, Siesta Key’s, and Fern Leaf.

A Blog Named Hero – Rays of Hope

Hello!  The Crafty Nurse here with a project using Ellen Hutson’s Essential’s By Ellen’s stamps and dies for the “Texture” challenge at A Blog Named Hero.  A very special thank you to Ellen for allowing us to play with their great product this month. Her generous spirit is known to many who frequent her store.

I was so excited to use the “Stay Salty” Essentials By Ellen stamp and die set to play with this month. I started by applying table salt to a wet watercolor wash to create texture and play off the “stay salty” theme.  I cut up that panel and stacked it for even more interest.  The sky was created with watercolors, distress inks, and a layering stencil.

I hope you’ll join us at A Blog Named Hero for our September “Texture” Card Challenge!  See you there!

Technique Junkies July Blog Hop!

Happy July 1st fellow Junkies!  With summer here, the Technique Junkie Design Team is celebrating with a blog hop showcasing the new Technique Junkies stamps for July.  In addition to some fabulous stamps, there are stencils, art anthology colorations, and a variety of dimensional mediums perfect for those who like to play with ink.  As is her custom, Pat is offering 15% off all July Release Stamps for one week!  WooHoo!

I’d love for you to stop by all the design team’s blogs listed below for great ideas on how to use those new July Release stamps found in the Technique Junkies Store.

I wanted to start the hop off with a patriotic flare using a combination of new and existing Technique Junkies stamps.  The background was built using “Patriot Fragments”, a fabulous set that can be used all together for a background like I have done, or individually as elements on your projects.  The technique is the Big Bold Blending Tutorial from the Bodacious Backgrounds CD using Candy Apple Red and Faded Jeans Distress Inks.  To build the focal image, I started with the Tim Holtz stars stencil using the Gelato Wipe technique (but with distress ink) from Sensational Stencils CD.   I then stamped the new “Dream Big SD697” from the July release and went over that with a black gel pen to add pop.

July1

My second card features the new “Mermaid Love #S698” which I stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and colored up with Copic Markers.  To create the sun rays I used the basic “Grunged Stencil Technique from the Sensational Stencils CD” with the Tim Holtz Ray’s stencil and Scattered Straw, Fossilized Amber, Squeezed Lemonade, and Mustard Seed inks. The sentiment is another new July stamps called, “Better At The Lake Set of 5 – SS057”.  I finished off the white water with Copic White Paint applied with a stipple brush, a great way to add texture and “splash” to water.

July6

My next card  uses the “Colorwash Alcohol Tutorial from the August/September 2012 Technique Junkies Newsletter.  I love the depth and variety of color in this technique and the way it sets off the boats in the new “Rowboats #712” stamp.  The sentiment is from a previous release called,  “Winds of Change SD621” .

July5

My last card uses some copper Washi Tape for the background.  For more ideas using Washi tape, check out “Washi Tape & Ribbons CD.  My focal stamps is “Rescue Love SD689” that I stamped with Tombow Markers in several colors, then painted Art Anthology Dimensional paint in Vegas Gold, Kenyan Copper, and Desire.  The background is one of my favorite TJ Stamps “Faint Scratches #S518” stamped in Antique Linen Distress Ink.

July7

Now, that I’ve shown you what I have to offer, I don’t want you to miss any of the other design teams creativity so I encourage you to start hopping at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.  If you are arriving from Karen’s Blog, your in the right place! Great project Karen, you rock!

12 Tags of 2016: June – Tim Holtz

I’ve finished my June 12 Tags by Tim Holtz making several substitutions from the original but keeping with the offered techniques. I made a gold flag with Tarnished Brass Distress Crackle Paint, die cut the “dream” die by Tim Holtz and used Distress Crayons for shading.  I finished off with some Chit Chat words and twine.   I’m also entering this in the Mixed Media Monthly challenge for “Get Texty’.

A Day For Daisies: May Kit Club Release

It’s Friday and time for another installment of A Day For Daisies Kit Club Release!  In addition, we are still running the “Paint It Up” challenge so I sure hope you’ll pop by the ADFD Blog by Thursday, May 19th at noon to enter your card for a chance to win some free images!

Paint it up

For my card today I chose “Little Dancer Daisy” to “paint it up” for you today. I used FW Pearlescent Acrylic Paints as my medium today for the great shimmer they leave. I began with a Tim Holtz embossing folder and some molding paste.  Once dried, I applied the pearlescent paints randomly over the background.  My image is also colored in the same colors then fussy cut.  My sentiment is Clearly Besotted.

A Day For Daisies: February Kit Club Release

It’s Friday and time for A Day For Daisies Kit Club Release!  In addition, we are still running the “All My Love” challenge so I sure hope you’ll pop by the ADFD Blog by February 11th at noon to enter your card for a chance to win some free images!

For my card today I chose “Stick Horse Ride” to color for you today. I used a combination of Kuretake Gamsi Watercolors and Copic Markers for this adorable image.  I started by printing out the image, masking it with liquid masking fluid, then once that dried, watercolored deep pigment in several places to create whimsy. Once that dried, I removed the mask and colored in with Copics. Don’t be alarmed, sometimes the liquid masking fluid makes the printer ink run a little.  I don’t think it’s noticeable so give it a try.

I die cut the large flag with a My Favorite Thing Die, used a Tim Holtz embossing folder, die cut my die-versions “happy” sentiment, splattered with more watercolor paint and finished up with stickles. Whew!

Technique Junkies Vintage Travel Page

Hello Fellow Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse here with a mixed media journal page using some of the new February Technique Junkie Stamps.  I hope you’ve had a chance to check out this fabulous release on the Technique Junkie Design Team page, if not, I encourage you to do so.  Pat is also offering all February Release stamps at 15% off until February 8th.

I began my page with Tim Holtz tissue paper then applied distress paint in Vintage Photo, Broken China, and Walnut Stain.  I then added a watery layer of gesso and wiped that around with a baby wipe.  I then took “Houndstooth Check S665” and stamped over the page in Versamark mark ink.  So that you don’t get hard edges, just curl your stamp and roll instead of stamping the entire thing.  I then added gold perfect pearls for some shimmer.  Over that, I stenciled gold ferro paste over a Tim Holtz’s “traveler” stencil.

The numbers, Paris Tower, and tag are all My Favorite Things dies cut from travel themed paper.  On the tag, I stamped the couple from “Vintage Travel Cases PS012″ in Sepia archival ink and the sentiment in black archival ink.  I like the way the fade off on the bottom.

The suitcases are also from “Vintage Travel Cases PS012.”  I began by stamping different suitcases with a variety of inks.  I stenciled over them with Art Anthology “Cracked” stencil and then layered that with rock candy distress stickles and let them dry.  I then adhered all the elements with matte gel medium and created shading with a Faber Castell Pit pen in brown. To finish I colored up some wooden planes also with the pitt pen  and called it a Technique Junkies Vintage Travel Page.

Well, that’s my page for today, I hope you’ve enjoyed a a little inspiration.  I’ll see you in a couple weeks for more fun with the February release at Technique Junkies.

As always, Happy Inking

Technique Junkies Blog Hop!

It’s the first of the month and that means it’s time for a Technique Junkies  Blog Hop showcasing the new February release!  The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team  will provide an amazing  selection of inspiration for your enjoyment.

Pat is again offering 15% off all February Release Stamps for one week!  In addition to new stamps, Technique Junkies has added a fun new product called Minx, a shimmer ink.  This of course is along side some already great art supplies like stencils, art anthology colorations, velvets, and sorbets.

The background on my first card uses “Faux Metal Gelatos from the Artistic Effects CD.  I used a Darice brick embossing folder and colored that with a mix of silver, blue, and purple Gelatos to get a stone look.  I watercolored my inmate “Mug Shot #SD638” with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Makers after embossing her.  The “wonky die” is from My Favorite Things and makes for a great window.  I added faux white stitching for more of that black and white contrast and finished off with the fabulous sentiment from “Partners in Crime #SS053.”

Feb 2016; Goofy Pictures

My next card features the new stamp, “Drinkin’ and Thinkin’ #SD656.”  For those of you who know me know I LOVE COFFEE so I love this stamp.  I started by creating a background using the “Distress Stain Dip Technique in the Artistic Effects CD.”  I then grabbed the Tim Holtz Coffee Stencil and applied that in Vintage Photo.  I stamped “Drinkin’ and Thinkin” then colored her up with Art Anthology Dimensional Paints in “Sunshine and Just Peach by Art Anthology. I finished off with the sentiment from “Simple Sentiments 2, Style B #SS02B.”Feb-Coffee2

My next card uses several of the new stamps.  The background is a classic Houndstooth background called, “Houndstooth Check #S665,”   The technique is the Distress Stain Dip technique from the Artistic Effects CD.   The focal image is from a great travel set called, “Vintage Travel Cases #PS012” which comes with several suit cases, this focal image, and a sentiment which I’ve also used. I added some extra pizazz but dropping on fran’tage embossing powder in copper and heating it from underneath.  I distressed the edges with several distress inks in brown and finished off with Black Soot.  I colored up some waxy thread with Timeless Colorations by Art Anthology  for the final element.
