For my card this week I used by Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers for some watercoloring on the Repeat Impressions stamp called, “Birds and Blossoms 1321-M.”  The sentiment is “Love, Hugs 2509-H” and the card is completed with a doodled frame.

The House That Stamps Built: Photo Inspiration

It’s the third Wednesday of the Month and time for The House That Stamps Built photo inspiration challenge.  For February, the design team chose a love themed scene.  As with all our challenges, let the photo be your guide and please use your imagination.  For example, just pick out a color, a shape, or even use just one element that you are attracted to.  It’s all about creativity and fun.

You have until Tuesday, February 23rd to enter for a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate at Repeat Impressions.  If you use a Repeat Impressions stamp, you’ll get an extra entry!

Here’s the inspiration chosen by our Rock Stars:

When I looked at the picture I knew that I had to use watercolors as a starting point to create the feel of the photo.  I continued to add layers until I got the depth I was looking for.  For the trees, I used Repeat Impressions “Lg Pine Tree 2719-K” stamped in archival ink in case I wanted to add more color, which I did.  The sentiment is from the “Hello Cling” and captures to scene for me.  I finished off with a few recollections gems.

Sketch Saturday Challenge #378

For my card I chose an Art Impressions Watercolor set called, “WC Series 6 Set 1 – 3497.”  These sets really allow for easy scene building and more can be found at the Simon Says Stamp Store.

To color the images I used Distressed Markers on good quality Strathmore #140 watercolor paper.  You can find some videos on the stamping/watercoloring techniques on YouTube.   My project was cut out using the My Favorite Things stitched square die and the pattern paper is Echo Parks “Getaway.”  I finished by stamping Simon Says Stamp “Circle Sayings” for the sentiment.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with using the new Sketch Saturday Sketch!
