Technique Junkies – Pug’s the Word

Hello Junkies

I’m here today with an ATC that is sure to put a smile on the face of your swap partner using the February Technique Junkies stamp called, “Pugs & Kiss #SD718”. This stamp is a perfect size for use on your ATC’s and very easy to fussy cut.

After making a standard ATC background which is 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches, I cut a slightly smaller piece of sticky back canvas and watercolored that with some beautiful Quinacridone Gold. I stamped the sentiment directly on the sticky back canvas and wish I would have used Misty Tool because I wouldn’t have had to put down so much pressure somewhat distorting the stamp. I “fixed” my error by coming back in with a Faber Castell Pitt marker.  I love that trick!

My pug was colored using Distress Markers adding depth by using the folds of his skin for where I put in the shadow.  I colored his eyes with several colors to give them life.  Isn’t he adorable?

Sure hope you find some time to get your fingers inky today and I can’t wait to share the new March Technique Junkies stamps with you on 1st.

See you then!

Technique Junkies ATC – 30 Days of Christmas

Hello Junkies!!

Are you totally enjoying the 30 days of Christmas here at The Technique Junkies Design Team Blog? I know I sure am.

Today, I’ve got a sweet little ATC card to share with you today that I created using a piece of sticky back canvas that I stenciled with embossing paste using a Tim Holtz holiday stencil.  Once that was dry, I sprayed with Art Anthology Coloration Spray in Avocado and Leaf.  The red ATC base is created using the Red Pepper Color Wash spray with a small spritz of Dylusions White Linen.  To add a little old school feel I broke out the oldie but goodie brads.  My sentiment is from the October Release called, “All is Calm #SDX079” and stamped on black card stock also spritzed with Dylusions White Linen to mimic snow.  Finally, to add some flare, I edged my sentiment with Gold Kylon.

Stop by every day through December 15th to enjoy the Design Teams 30 Days of Christmas here at Technique Junkies.

We’d love to see some of your creations so keep posting them at in the Technique Junkies Yahoo Group!

Happy Inking!!

Simon Says Stamp using Deconstructed Sketch 186

This card is made using the February Simon Says Stamp card kit & the Deconstructed Sketch 186.  I took the gelato and added perfect pearl water, which I mixed myself using water and dry perfect pearls.  I painted that mixture onto the sticky back canvas and added rub-ons after it dried.  The embossing in the background is from a Darice Folder and the flag and circle dies are My Favorite Things.

Here is a card using the sketch outline from Seize the Sketch made with Sticky Back Canvas and painted with acrylic paints.  The stamps and sentiment are both Lawn Fawn and the image is embossed, though the canvas absorbed most of the ink and didn’t leave too much embossing behind.  I just wanted to make sure I didn’t have bleeding paint.  The leaf in the corner is burlap.  Design paper is Lawn Fawn “into the woods”.
