The House That Stamps Built: Anything Goes

It’s the fifth Wednesday of the Month and time for The House That Stamps Built Anything Goes challenge.  This doesn’t come around too often, but it’s your time to do anything you wish.  You have until Tuesday, September 6th to enter for a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate at Repeat Impressions.

For my card today I had some creative play using Dylusions ink to watercolor with.  If you haven’t tried this, it’s so simple.  All you do is stamp and emboss your image, spray with water over entire piece and start dropping color.  You can use any water based color and Dylusions works very well.

For my card I started by stamping the Repeat Impressions “Flower Power Frame 10202-Q and embossed with white powder. I dropped in Cherry Pie, Funky Fushia, Pure Sunshine, Lemon Zest and Cut Grass. I created a border using a My Favorite Things frame and used the sentiment “Special 8608-D”.

For my card I’ve used a variety of stamps from Plate 2300 at Repeat Impressions  though all of the stamps can be purchased separately in the Halloween section of the store.  The background began with some play from Brusho’s powders in warm tones.  I then did a bit of distress inking and created the embossed background using a Darice Fall Folder.

For my “Circle” card I stamped the Repeat Impressions “Vase of Tulips” on Watercolor Paper and colored with watercolors. I created a circle card by placing my circle die just outside the top fold using a Sizzix die. I added the sentiment from “Plate 8600″, which has some great sentiments.  I finished off with recollections gems.

The House That Stamps Built; Project for the week 8/8/16

Hello stampers.  Kathy, The Crafty Nurse here with some tips and tricks to embossing on Mulberry for my project of the week at The House that Stamps Built!

I was digging through my stash the other day and found some gorgeous mulberry paper and wanted to share how to use this supply for your focal image.

Lets get started!

For this project the supplies you’ll need are:

POTW

Begin by treating your piece of mulberry paper with an embossing buddy or powder.  This helps so the embossing powder doesn’t stick.

POTW1

Stamp and apply your powder to the mulberry – I used gold.

POTW2

Emboss you image with a heat gun.  I used “Shade of Elm” Make sure before you apply the heat to let your tool heat up for a few minutes so when you do emboss, it’s quick.

POTW3

Now we are going to make a “torn edge”.  To do that, take your aqua or water brush and paint a line around your image.  You can create a square, a circle, or an oval.  For that matter you can draw any shape you like.

POTW4

I used a square for my shape but rounded the edges in my final project.

POTW5

To get the torn edge, just pull the mulberry toward you while it is still wet.

POTW6

Here is the final mulberry stamped piece.

POTW7

To create the background of your card, choose an image with texture.  I stamped “Pine Silhouette”  and clear embossed.

POTW8

I then distressed with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

POTW9

Then applied water splatters.

POTW10

Wipe off the extra ink over the embossing.

POTW11

Apply a clear stick glue to the back.

POTW12

Adhere to your project.

POTW13

Stamp your sentiment.  I used the Stamp-a-Majig to stamp Plate 8600 sentiment, “Wishing you Happy”.

POTW14

Finally, put all your elements together for your final card.

POTWCard

I hope you’ve gotten a few tips and tricks this week at The House That Stamps Built and we look forward to seeing your cards in our current challenge this week.

Repeat Impressions: Color Challenge

It’s the first Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for a color challenge at The House that Stamps Built.  You can choose either Pink or Yellow as your third color in addition to black and grey.

The Challenge is open through Tuesday, August 9th and there is a $25.00 prize for our random winner.  You don’t have to use Repeat Impressions stamps, but if you do, an extra entry is waiting for you.

Now let’s get started with the colors we choose this week:

August Color

I began by stamping the Repeat Impressions sentiment, “Life is not” in the center of the card and heat embossing with clear powder.  I masked that off the sentiment and then stamped several of the Flower Separates “Daisy Outline Large, Daisy Solid, Small, Mum Outline”, “Flower Cluster Detail, and Flower Cluster Solid”.  I finished off by using a Clear Gelly Roll Pen.

August Color

I can’t wait to see what you come up with in your color challenge for What If Wednesday at The House that Stamps Built.

The House That Stamps Built: Sketch Challenge

It’s the fourth Wednesday of the Month and time for The House That Stamps Built sketch challenge.  You have until Tuesday, August 2nd to enter for a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate at Repeat Impressions.

Here’s the Sketch:

July Sketch

This sketch is perfect for using the Repeat Impressions Vertical Party Negative 5910-M.  I chose to keep it vertical instead of askew, but that’s okay as the sketch is inspiration and doesn’t have to be followed exactly.  The sentiment is also from the vertical stamps called, Birthday Vertical 6104-J.  The medium used is Twinkling H2o’s.  I stamped with versamark, then white heat embossed the stamps, painting over with the twinkling paint.
