Cards in Envy Challenge – Tuxedo!
For this Cards in Envy Challenge, we are all about the black and white cards for our “Tuxedo” challenge. Create any black and white themed card for your entry. Our challenge runs through Sunday, January, 28th and the design team will be picking their favorites. As a quick reminder, Cards in Envy asks that you make your card fit into a standard A2 card, which is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches.
My card today features an older Stampin’ Up image used with a square scalloped punch. The black and white papers are from My Minds Eye and cut with a Lawn Fawn scalloped die. My script stamp is from Impression Obsessions, which I stamped in Hero Arts Shadow ink in soft granite. I edged in white pen, wrapped the focal in black and white twine, and finished with 3 black pearls.
I hope you will join us at Cards in Envy this week and show us your “Tuxedo” cards.
Technique Junkies March Blog Hop!
It’s the first of the month and that means it’s time for a Technique Junkies Blog Hop showcasing the new March release! The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team will provide an amazing selection of inspiration for your enjoyment.
Pat is again offering 15% off all March Release Stamps for one week! If you haven’t been over to the Technique Junkies store recently, there are a lot of great new stencils as well as other great art supplies for your creative journey.
My first card today showcases my favorite stamp of the bunch simply called, “Queen SD787”. Using my Misti, I stamped her several times with Versafine Black Onyx ink and clear heat embossed her. I then brought out some watercolors, specifically, the new Daniel Smith color called ” Purpurite Genuite – STUNNING. I also used some Hematite for shading. The background started with the new Jane Davenport papers that you can purchase from Michael’s put together using the “Tie it Together” technique from TJ December 2014 subscriber pages.
My next card features the new stamp, “We Pour #SD755” using a version of “Distressed Stained Dip Technique in the Artistic Effects CD.” Instead of Distress Stains, I used traditional Distress Inks from the standard size pads and applied them to my craft mat. This was actually the second generation, hence the lighter application. The colors are Faded Jeans and Gathered Twigs.
My next card uses the “Sweet Baby Set of 4 #SS072” stamped with the background called, Gessstencil Crayons, also from the December 2014 TJ Subscriber pages. My watercolor crayons are Neocolor II’s in a Yellow Green and Turquoise and stencil is a Tim Holtz design. For the focal image, I did a some stitching around the sweet baby shoes because something about stitching and baby goes together for me. I chose one of the three sentiments in this new set and added rub-on stitching to the edge of the card as well. Perhaps this will bring my boys some inspiration to make me a grandmother!!
My final card showcases “Big Bunny #S685” using “Antique Glimmers” technique from December 2009 Subscriber Pages. It’s hard to pick up but he’s so shimmery. My sentiment “Kindness Matters #SDx026” is perfect for this sweet bunny and so important to remember as we go through our day.
Now, that I’ve shown you what I have to offer, I don’t want you to miss any of the other design teams creativity so I encourage you to start hopping at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.
If you are arriving from Cheri’s Blog, you in the right place! Gorgeous cards my friend!

From The Heart Stamps Sketch #152
Hello friends! Happy Monday! I’m here with this weeks sketch challenge at From The Heart Stamps. These are great challenges because you can use just the sketch, or if you’d like, add the twist. The only requirement is that you use a From The Heart image – the rest is up to you. The twist for this challenge is to “enlarge and crop your image.”
For my card I used only the sketch this week. I began with the April Stamp of the Month “Time To Bloom” which I colored with Daniel Smith watercolors. I used a lighter weight watercolor paper, 90lb, and put through my inkjet printer. I heat set with my embossing gun to make sure it was really dry then applied the watercolor with as little water as possible. The butterfly ran a little more so I had to use darker colors, but overall I was pleased with the outcome.
You have until Sunday, May 29th to enter Sketch #152 at From The Heart Stamps. Hope to see you there!
Cards in Envy Challenge – Deep Blue!
Who doesn’t love blue? I know I sure do. For this Cards in Envy Challenge I discovered a new technique I found on Pinterest using a base of white pigment ink followed by Distress Ink after it’s dried. WOW, does this given some dynamic results.
Remember, at Cards in Envy we ask that you make your card fit into a standard A2 card though, we have loosened up our requirements and no longer require a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card as long as it fits in the A2 Envy.
The colors I used with this card is Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks over white pigment ink from Simon Says Stamp. You can find the link on how to do this technique here. My sentiment is by Hero Arts “Happy Mother’s Day” set.
I hope you will join us at Cards in Envy this week and show us some Deep Blue cards! The challenge will run through Sunday, May 29th.

A Day For Daisies: Anything But A Card Challenge
It’s Friday friends and time for another post featuring the Vintage Hats Collection by A Day For Daisies. We are also starting a new challenge using “Anything But A Card”. The challenge will run through Thursday, May 5th so we hope you’ll come on over to enter.
For today’s card, I used “Vintage School Girl Four” which I colored with Dylusions Inks. This is a really fun technique though it does use water and can cause bleeding of your printer ink. Simply begin by adding small amounts of water where you want color, then drop Dylusions Ink into the water for a vibrant watercolor look.
For my tag I used the My Favorite Things Blueprint Tag stamped with Technique Junkies French Text background. I died the ribbon with Dylusions inks and used the Simple Stories “DIY Boutique” paper pack. My sentiment and the swirls stamp are by My Craft Spot called, Tiny Tags.
We can’t wait to see what your “Anything But A Card” entry looks like using your A Day For Daisies Images. Please also visit our Facebook Community Page as we’d love to see your cards there too!
A Day For Daisies: Add Pearls Challenge 3-11-16
It’s Friday and time for more a new post at A Day For Daisies! This week we are beginning a new challenge by adding “pearls” to our projects. The challenge will run through Thursday, March 24th at noon on the A Day For Daisies Blog!
I indulged in some of the new paints by Dylusions and created a journal spread for displaying the beautiful image, “Mermaid Vintage Pink Lingerie.”
I started by coloring her with Copic Markers then began to work on my page by building a base layer with Dylusions Paint followed by more paint put through stencils. I then stamped Technique Junkies “Faint Scratches” followed by “Here We Go Round in Circles” for background noise.
The water is hand painted also using the Dylusions paint with pearls in the middle. I added some stickles in the circles and finished off with a border.
We’d love for you to visit our Facebook Community Page where you can post your creations in addition to adding them on the blog. I can’t wait to see what your creations bring this week.
Technique Junkies March Blog Hop!
It’s the first of the month and that means it’s time for a Technique Junkies Blog Hop showcasing the new March release! The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team will provide an amazing selection of inspiration for your enjoyment. I know I have said this before, but WOW, this release has got to be one of the best yet. Amazing Pat, you have completely outdone yourself.
Pat is again offering 15% off all March Release Stamps for one week! Also, if you haven’t tried the new Minx Shimmer Ink you are missing out on some fabulous inky goodness. In addition to the Minx, Technique Junkies has other great art supplies like stencils, art anthology colorations, velvets, and sorbets to help you on your creative journey.
The background on my first card uses “180 Degree Stamping from the Bodacious Bacground CD. I stamped the new Palettini image called, Vintage Butterfly Collection #PO35″ using AlteNew dusk and Ocean Waves crisp ink. The focal image is “Veiled Woman #SD658” stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers. I also added “Black Leather Jacket” Dimensional Sorbet to her hat and coat for shine. The sentiment is “Classy & Fabulous SDX070.”
My next card features the new stamp, “Whimsical World #S634” using a version of “Stained Resist Technique in the Artistic Effects CD.” Instead of Distress Stains, I used the new Minx Shimmer Inks I talked about above in Bankroll, Decadent, and Panache. You can’t really appreciate how shimmery they are in real life. I finished the card by die cutting several Lawn Fawn stitched frames and popping them up.
My next card uses the Vintage Butterfly Collection #P035″ stamp with the background called, Irresistible Rainbow from Bodacious Background CD. The colors used were Blueprint Sketch, Lucky Clover, Ripe Persimmon, Mustard Seed, and Candy Apple Red. They appear muted as the paper is glossy. The sentiment is “Kindness Matters SDX026.” In this technique, you should see a ghosting of the initial Versamark stamping, however, my pad was dry, so it isn’t as apparent, but I’m still was happy with the final outcome.
My next card is another Palettini Collection stamp called “French Bicycle Collage #P037.” For this card I used the “Big Bold Blending technique from “Bodacious Background CD.” I then inked around the edges with Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso Distress Inks and gave additional texture using the scoring board. My sentiment is Tim Holtz letters edged with distress ink and adhered with Tombo Mono glue.
Now, that I’ve shown you what I have to offer, I don’t want you to miss any of the other design teams creativity so I encourage you to start hopping at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.
If you are arriving from Marilyn’s Blog, you in the right place! Gorgeous project Marilyn!
