It’s Friday and time for another installment of A Day For Daisies Kit Club Release! In addition, we are still running the “Paint It Up” challenge so I sure hope you’ll pop by the ADFD Blog by Thursday, May 19th at noon to enter your card for a chance to win some free images!
For my card today I chose “Little Dancer Daisy” to “paint it up” for you today. I used FW Pearlescent Acrylic Paints as my medium today for the great shimmer they leave. I began with a Tim Holtz embossing folder and some molding paste. Once dried, I applied the pearlescent paints randomly over the background. My image is also colored in the same colors then fussy cut. My sentiment is Clearly Besotted.
Happy Saturday! Today’s new Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by Little Claire, who is offering 9 digital images as a prize to our random winner. WOW, thanks Little Claire. You have until Friday, September 4th to enter for a chance to win.
Here’s the sketch:
For my card I chose Little Claire digital image, “Meadow Girl Silhouette.” I went a little mixed media for my card today by using a print I made from another project which I painted, stenciled, inked, and otherwise just played on. I then die cut this with My Favorite Things frame die. For the image, I created stripes of Distress ink in Abandoned Coral, Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron, and Mermaid Lagoon. The sentiments are an older Stampin’ Up set applied to flags labels I cut out.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with using the new Sketch Saturday Sketch!
Inspired by the A Day For Daisies challenge using the butterfly ADFD images. The coloring is Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Mica’s and Sprays in Freaky Franken-Lime, Tibetan Poppy Teal, Witches Potion Purple and Summer Lovin’ Sun. I also used Molding Paste colored with the magical’s and sprayed through stencils created by Simon Says Stamp leaf die. The frame is Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle and the sentiment is Papertrey Ink. I finished off by distressing the edges with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.
I’ve been traveling so I’m behind in my Exploring Art Journaling 4 course. I had a few pages already done, but haven’t yet posted so today I’m posting day 6, 7, & 8.
Day 6 uses Gesso and Liquitex Fluid Acrylic paints. The fluid ink is applied first, followed by gesso through a stencil. I also used some wood veneer covered with white enamel.
Day 7 uses colored modeling paste. I used some older stash of pigment powders from Lindy’s Stamp Gang called “Moon Glows”.
Day 8 uses Pan Pastels and versamark over stencils. This medium puts on great color, but I found that the acrylic markers don’t glide well. I changed to using gel markers to see if that would glide better and they did. Perhaps next time I use pan pastels I’ll put down some gel medium. Thanks for checking out my pages, on to Day 9!
Today’s page for Exploring Art Journaling 4; Day 4, was supposed to use molding paste and Dylusion’s Sprays. I wanted a some sparkle, so I broke out my Lindy’s Stamp Gang Sprays. I started the page with some molding paste in a chevron stencil, then turned the page on it’s side and sprayed the edge with water, followed by several colors of the Lindy’s. I broke out my VERY OLD Heidi Swapp HUGE flowers from my stash and applied them with gel medium. The centers are from last classes newsprint pages with gems and pearls around the edges. The stems are silver foil tape, which you really can’t appreciate in the picture. I used some other stencils, some bubble wrap, and some molotow markers to fancy the page up. One of the great things about art journaling is using your older stuff. Can’t say I’d ever use these flowers on a scrapbook page, but I like them here on this journalling page.
Happy Friday All! I’ve created a back to school card this morning using Mojo Monday Sketch and Simon Says Stamp Alphabet Stencil sprayed with Dylusions sprays. The paper is from My Mind’s Eye “Adventure” pack and I created a textured piece using a Bity Stencil by Balzer’s Design. Sentiment is My Favorite Things and Image is from Doodle Pantry colored with Copics, cut out with a My Favorite Things Stitched die, and edged with distress ink in antique linen. Finally, I used fibers from Tim Holtz.
Day 28 is using Embossing Pastes and Sprays. I used Molding Paste with a Club Scrap Stencil from “Breathe” collection and sprayed Dylusions over that. Then I used some cut out collage pages we did earlier in the month to make my flowers collaging them on top. I then used Multi-medium to cover the flowers and highlighted them with the Pitt Brush Pen from Faber Castell. That’s a great technique if you haven’t tried it because you can make a pen mark and then wipe it away if you work quickly, leaving a halo surrounding the flowers. Only two more days left, then back to some card making. Woohoo!
