Hello Crafty Friends! I love the monthly Lindy’s Color Challenges and today I finished my project for the June entry. This month I was inspired by Tamara Laporte via Women Unleashed. Here are the gorgeous colors this month:
For my project I used the Beauty School Dropout Magical’s set that includes, Summer Lovin’ Sun, Pink Ladies Pink, T-bird Turquoise, Kissin’ Kenieckie Coral, and Frenchy’s Pink Pouf. Though you can’t really see it, I did add some Scintillating Silver a glitz spritz.
I started with 140lb watercolor paper and lightly sprayed it with the above colors making sure to dry in between layers. I did mix my own colors using the Magical’s, which I love to do because it takes up less room than bottles of sprays (though I have two containers of sprays too!). After spraying, I doodled with Posca pens in black and white. This was inspired by a fabulous teacher, Tamara Laporte so please check her out.
Hello Crafty Friends! I love the monthly Lindy’s Color Challenges and today I finished my page for the March entry. Here are the gorgeous colors this month:
For Lindy’s challenge, I used Lindy’s Starburst Spray in “Baby Blue Eyes Aqua” and Lindy’s Flat Fabio in Plumeria Pink and Luscious Lime. After spraying and using a straw to move the colors, I stamped the Dina Wakely clear stamp (I got half price at Michael’s last week) in Archival Ink. I then went a letter crazy and doodled. I am certainly not a natural doodler but I’m taking a class with JoAnne Sharpe that has really inspired me called “Artfully Inspired Life 2016.”
I was home today after spending more time in the dental chair having my 5th root canal since November so what else do you do when you’re feeling blue, but to create ART! At least I do. So, today I worked on the February 2016, Lindy’s Stamp Gang Challenge.
I was really inspired by the colors for this challenge and luckily, had them all already in my stash. I used Flat Fabio Spray in, “Lucious Lime” and Flat Fabio Magical “Tears on My Pillow Tangerine” and Starburst Sprays in, Delphinium Turquoise , Jazzy Jivin’ Purple, and Hottie Patottie Hot Pink.
I went clean and geometric for this card but still wanted to add a little bit of the botanical inspiration from the elephant. To accomplish this, I added the My Favorite Things feathers, which I sprayed with Delphinium Turquoise and Luscious Lime after heat embossing with Repeat Impressions “Tumbling Hearts 1210-K” in white powder. I then added gold and platinum embossing powders to add sparkle and shine. My flag dies are from My Favorite Things and my sentiment is Wplus9 cut from remaining colored paper. As a final step I applied colored hearts.
I was so inspired by Day 5’s Feminine tags over at the Ellen Hutson’s Classroom, I had to create another. This tag is inspired by Carissa Wiley and Kryssi Ng. I loved the theme of Glitz & Glitter, which is pretty unusual for me but since I am no longer sending cards to OWH, there’s a lot more sparkle in my life! In addition, I wanted to use the Lindy’s Stamp Gang December Color Challenge as additional inspiration so here is that color palette.
I used Ellen Hutson’s Mondo Poinsettia and Brushstroke Christmas stamps as well as the Brushstroke “Joy” die. It’s all on sale now too so go check it out! I colored the poinsettia in with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Mica’s in Rizzo’s Rowdy Red, Ponderosa Pines Olive and Black Orchid Black. I also used Flat Shot Cafe Au Lait for the center then dotted with a little Black Orchid Black Magical. The pine boughs from Penny Black were stamped in the background with Versamark then embossed with Snow Tinsel powder by Ranger. The tag is Papertrey Ink which I extended using the same partial die cutting technique as shown by Carissa in her video in the Ellen Classroom.
The Tags are Simon Says Stamps Wonky label cut three times using my all time favorite paper by Little Yellow Bicycle called Winterings, which is no longer available. I embossed those with the Snow Tinsel powder as well. I finished off by adding the stitched elements on the bottom, red stickles for the berries, and Penny Black birds in the trees with a bit of wink of stella.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my second feminine tag! Which one do you prefer? There is so much inspiration in the Ellen classroom, you won’t regret stopping by.
Hello Crafty Friends! I love the monthly Lindy’s Color Challenges and today I finished my card for the November entry. For this month I’ve combined the Lindy’s Challenge with some Art Anthology Products I’ve purchased at Technique Junkies. Right now, all Christmas stamps are on sale as are all November releases stamps through November the 8th. Just a few more days so don’t miss out!
Here are the gorgeous colors this month:
For the Lindy’s challenge, I used a combination of Sprays and Magical Mica’s. I began by creating the background on a piece of old cardboard which I painted with heavy body gesso. I then applied sprays in Golden Sleigh Bells and Bucket of Blood Red and mixed up magicals to create sprays in Canna Lily Orange and Poincianna Red Flame.
Once my background was dried, I mixed up some Golden Sleigh Bells with Translucent Texture Paste and stenciled through the “Retro Tiles” stencil by Art Anthology. I used up the remaining paste to create texture around the edges.
Now it’s on the creating the flowers. I sprayed the flowers with Canna Lily Orange, Poincianna Red Flame, and Golden Sleigh Bells. I finished the middles with “Black Leather Jacket” Dimensional Sorbet. I also mixed some glass bead gel by Liquitex with Poincianna Red Flame to create that vibrant red texture on the My Favorite Things Feather and edged it with more of the Black Leather Jacket Art Anthology paint. I created the buttons by spraying Canna Lily Orange and applying Golden Sleigh Bells Magicals. Then in the middle of the buttons, I applied hero arts gems and sealed it with Art Anthology “Splashed” which is a fabulous clear coat finish with shine.
To get some of the green in my project, I mixed Greased Lightening Green Magical with water and applied it to a Basic Grey wood stick and Maya Road tickets.
I’d say we’ve achieved some texture!
It’s the first Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for a color challenge at The House that Stamps Built.
The Challenge is open through Tuesday, November 10th and there is a $25.00 prize for our random winner. You don’t have to use Repeat Impressions stamps, but if you do, an extra entry is waiting for you.
Now let’s get started with the colors we choose this week:
I began by stamping “Polar Bear Kisses 1015-L” in the center of my card, then masked that off. I then stamped an assortment of “Snowflakes 8805-K“, “Snowflakes Solid 8912-I” and “Snowflake Outlines 8916-E” with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with green glitter powder. Once that was set, I distressed with Chipped Sapphire then watercolored the Polar Bears with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical’s and finished off with some clear gems.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with in your color challenge for What If Wednesday at The House that Stamps Built
Hello Crafty Friends! I love the monthly Lindy’s Color Challenges and today I finished my card for the July entry. For this month I’ve combined the Lindy’s Challenge with Technique Junkies stamps because Pat is offering 15% off all July Release Stamps.
Here are the gorgeous colors this month:
For Lindy’s challenge, I used a combination of Sprays, Magical Mica, and Hot Shot’s. I began by mixing Bonjour Butter Flat Hot Shot with water to create a spray. I did the same with Peony Scarlet Red Magical Mica. I then sprayed the background with the Bonjour Butter, Blue Hawaiian Blue Starburst, and Aloha Avocado Flat Spray. I then splattered the Peony Scarlet Red and Dark Chocolate Truffle Starburst Spray and stamped Technique Junkies “Faint Scratches” in both white and gray.
I then sprayed more Peony Scarlet Red on my craft mat and then “stamped” the Technique Junkies “Here We Go Round in Circles” into the spray and applied to card base. Over that I stamped more circles with Hero Arts Black ink and embellished with Signo Uniball White pen (my favorite). I created the clouds using an My Favorite Things die spraying with Aloha Avocado, Bonjour Butter, and Dark Chocolate Truffle then embossed with a Paper Studio folder and inked with Distress ink in Gathered Twigs.
I then stamped the new July Release stamp from Technique Junkies called, “Life is a Song” and cut out leaves from canvas using WPlus9 die. The entire project was sealed with Collage Pauge in Matte then I took a Faber Castell Pitt pen in brown and edged the dies helping them sink into the card. I finished off by cutting the whole thing out using a Simon Says Stamp stitched die.
Hope you are enjoying the 4th of July and spend quality time with your friends and family!
Hello Crafty Friends! I love the monthly Lindy’s Color Challenges and today I finished my card for the June entry. Here are the gorgeous colors this month:
For Lindy’s challenge, I didn’t have all the colors so I used some substitute Lindy’s products. I did have Shabby Turbine Teal, which I made into a spray by using my magical mica in that color. I did the same thing with Steel Shimmer, which is a stunning dark gray. The other colors I used were Lindy’s Sprays in Gossamer Gold in Moon shadow Mist, Peony Scarlet Red in starburst Spray, and Scintillating Silver a glitz spritz.
I started with 140lb watercolor paper and lightly sprayed it with the above colors making sure to dry in between layers. After spraying, I also took the cap off and flicked the color over in splats (see my recent post on splats). I then made the embellishments with white flowers and a Lindy’s Fabulous Filagree, which it looks like there are only a few left. I cut out the panel, tag, and flag shape using Simon Says Stamp dies then finished card with a Wplus9 sentiment, metal flower, twine, and recollections gems.
It’s the second Wednesday of April and that means it’s time for a Designers Choice Challenge at The House That Stamp Built! Today, Debbie is hosting our challenge and she has chosen “Anything But a Card.”
For my “Anything But a Card” I chose to do an Art Journaling Page. I started with some cheap craft paints in pink, peach and purple and applied it with random strokes. You see some circles, lines, and otherwise haphazard application. I added some white paint and stenciled some darker paint using a sponge. I then stamped Repeat Impressions, “Rose Heart Wreath 101-P” and sentiment from “Hugs & Kisses Stencil 1215-H” in archival black ink so it won’t smear. I colored the image using Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Mica’s and a water brush to give that sparkly feel. To finish off the page I added some pearlized Modeling Cream through a Heidi Swap heart stencil and splattered some black ink spots about the page.
I sure hope you break out your creativity for “Anything But A Card” this week at The House that Stamps Built. Happy Wednesday!
