You have until Tuesday, September 22nd to enter for a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate at Repeat Impressions.  If you use a Repeat Impressions stamp, you’ll get an extra entry!

Here’s the inspiration chosen by our Rock Stars:

For my card I created a very loose watercolor background using my Gamsi Kuretake Watercolor paints.  I started by stamping and heat embossing with copper the Repeat Impressions stamp, “Oak Leaf Silhouette #5110” then stamped a few extra leaves on more watercolor paper which I cut out, distressed, and applied over the embossed leaves.  I chose to interpret the focal image as a butterfly, so I stamped Repeat Impressions  “Butterfly (sm) 9110-F” and also watercolored and cut him out.  The sentiment, “Love Much 3110-F” is from the Repeat Impressions Words to Live By collection and so inspirational.

For my card I began with my Kuretake Gamsi watercolors then stamped the Repeat Impressions “Ginkgo 5709- I” stamp from the Far East Series and “Random Dots 3404-C” from the Little Fill’ns set with black Versafine ink and clear embossing powder.   The “Sending” sentiment is a die from Simon Says Stamp.  In addition, if you promise not to tell, I’ve given a sneak peek of the “Hello 9900” sentiment stamp soon to be released!

The House That Stamps Built: Anything Goes

It’s the fifth Wednesday of the Month and time for The House That Stamps Built Anything Goes challenge.  This doesn’t come around too often, but it’s your time to do anything you wish.  You have until Tuesday, August 4th to enter for a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate at Repeat Impressions.

For my card today I broke out my Kuretake Gamsi Watercolors.  I started by stamping the Repeat Impressions “Love Birds 1707-M with Archival Black Ink so it wouldn’t bleed. I did the same for the sentiment, “Love, Hugs 2509-H”.

The die is from Our Daily Bread Designs and so beautiful.  As a hint, when you have dies that are so detailed, use wax paper between the paper and die and it will come out easier.  You also want to make sure you have good pressure by adding some shims.

For my card I’ve used the Repeat Impressions, “USA 3702-G” in the background and “God Bless Flag 3705-J” as the focal point.  To create the background I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig and penciled in diagonal guidelines to stamp on, which I erased after stamping.  I used Hero Arts Red Royal, Navy, and Butter Bar inks.  I like to take stamps and create repeating backgrounds for extra punch.

The House That Stamps Built; Designer Choice Challenge

It’s the second Wednesday of July and that means it’s time for a Designers Choice Challenge at The House That Stamp Built! Today, Patti is hosting our challenge and she has chosen “White Plus 1 Color.”

As with our other challenges, we are offering a $25.00 gift certificate to the Repeat Impressions store for our random winner. Don’t forget, if you use a RI stamp, you get an extra entry!

For my “White Plus 1 Color card” I chose to do some liquid masking. This is a fairly simple technique, it just requires a little patience, which I usually don’t possess.

To begin, you stamp your image with permanent ink.  I used Repeat Impressions “Spring Blossoms 1320-M with Archival Black Ink.  As I was going to use a watercolor medium, I stamped my image on 140lb Strathmore watercolor paper.  If you don’t get the stamp even in all areas, you can touch it up using a Copic Multiliner.

The next step is to apply liquid frisket or any other masking medium.  Did you know rubber cement would also work?  Once you “paint” the stamp with your liquid mask, allow to completely dry. I then applied a combination of red and white pearl watercolors from my gorgeous Kuretake paints all over the image without worry as it’s protected by the mask.  It created this beautiful shimmery pink.  The edges were created by taping my paper down and carefully lifting the tape off once all was dried.

I finished off by stamping Repeat Impressions “Birthday 1113-D”  and finished off with pearls and sequins.

I sure hope you break out your creativity for “White plus 1 color” this week at The House that Stamps Built.  Happy Wednesday!

Cards in Envy Challenge: When Nature Calls

Happy Monday!  It’s time for another Cards in Envy challenge .  This week our theme is “When Nature Calls.”  This can be anything you find in nature.

As a reminder, Cards in Envy asks that your card fit into a standard A2 envelope for ease of mailing, but that doesn’t mean they have to be one layer or clean and simple.

For today’s card I wanted to create an outdoor scene using my Kuretake Gamsi Watercolors.  I was inspired by a Jill Foster for Penny Black video tutorial. The birds are Penny Black “Nature ‘s Friend,” and the sentiment is Club Scrap.
