Cards in Envy Challenge – Tuxedo!
For this Cards in Envy Challenge, we are all about the black and white cards for our “Tuxedo” challenge. Create any black and white themed card for your entry. Our challenge runs through Sunday, January, 28th and the design team will be picking their favorites. As a quick reminder, Cards in Envy asks that you make your card fit into a standard A2 card, which is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches.
My card today features an older Stampin’ Up image used with a square scalloped punch. The black and white papers are from My Minds Eye and cut with a Lawn Fawn scalloped die. My script stamp is from Impression Obsessions, which I stamped in Hero Arts Shadow ink in soft granite. I edged in white pen, wrapped the focal in black and white twine, and finished with 3 black pearls.
I hope you will join us at Cards in Envy this week and show us your “Tuxedo” cards.
Mixed Media Challenge Butterflies & Blooms
I’ve been playing today with mixed media from a lesson by Rae Missingman via Lifebook 2016. This is “layers of love”, a great way to build up lots of layers. It’s perfect for the Mixed Media Challenge.
I used a variety of Golden, Liquitex, FW Pearlescent’s, craft paint, Posca Pens, Gel Pens, book paper, stickles, china markers, dylusions, and stamps. If you haven’t heard of Lifebook 2016, I encourage you to join up – if you like mixed media, it’s a wonderful course that lasts the entire year.
Here are a few other projects I’ve done in this course and apply to the challenge theme.

From The Heart Stamps Sketch #154 – Show Off Your Coloring
Hello friends! Happy Monday! I’m here with Sketch #154 at From The Heart Stamps. These are great challenges because you can use just the sketch, or if you’d like, add the twist. The only requirement is that you use a From The Heart image. The rest is up to you. The twist for this challenge is “Show Off Your Coloring”.
For my card today I used image, “Harriet PigWit Mud Bath”, one of the fun new PigWit digis. I colored her up with watercolors and used a Impressions Impressions background stamp. The flag die is My Favorite Things.
I hope you’ll join us for the sketch this week at From The Heart Stamps for sketch #154!
A Day For Daisies: Add Watercolor Challenge Showcasing “Native Hearts” 11-20-15
It’s Friday and time for a new challenge at A Day For Daisies! This week we are adding “Watercolor” to our projects using the showcase images from “Native Hearts”. The challenge will run through Thursday, December 3rd at noon on the A Day For Daisies Blog!
For my card today I used the sweet image called, “Tree Top Dreams” I began by using Ken Oliver’s Color Burst’s Watercolor pigments in Sepia, Yellow Ochre, and Burnt Orange. I then applied Distress Ink through Tim Holtz stencils in woodgrain and Dot Fade. The grass was also created with Distress Inks and stamped with an Impressions Obsession’s crackle stamp.
The “Tree Top Dreams” image was colored in copic markers and distressed. My “You” sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp die joined with a WPlus9 “Hand Lettered Thanks” image. Finally, the stitched leaves are a Lawn Fawn die.
We’d love for you to visit our Facebook Community Page where you can post your creations in addition to adding them on the blog. Adding watercolor to your projects is super trendy and I can’t wait to see your creations this week.
Cards in Envy Challenge: Cute & Cuddly
Happy Monday! It’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and we are celebrating all things cute and cuddly!
Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 sized card without any large lumps or bumps. The challenge will run through Sunday, August 30th and our design team will be choosing their favorites to show off on the blog.
My card features some cute and cuddly creatures from Paper Smooches called, “Woofers & Tweeters.” I began by stamping the background with an Impression Obsession “crackle” stamp. I colored the cuddly creatures with Copic Markers and cut them out using the accompanying dies. The “friend” die is from My Favorite things, which I antiqued with distress ink and stamped with paws from the same stamp set.
I hope you’ll join us at Cards in Envy for this Cute and Cuddly challenge.
A Day For Daisies: New Release 7-24-15
It’s Friday and time for the new release from A Day For Daisies! WooHoo! I love new release day!
For my Design Team inspiration, I chose “Bird in Flight.” I colored this adorable image with Copic Markers. To create the background, I made a mask by printing out the image again and using a temporary adhesive to keep it steady. I then took Various Ink Refills in pink and blue green and dropped them on my background using a dropper.
To create the card background I stamped an impressions obsession stripe with white pigment ink. The “happy” die is from My Favorite Things and cut out in both pink and blue green using Echo Park’s “Creative Agenda” 6 x 6 paper pad. I popped it up using foam tape and finished off my card with a variety of sequins from my stash.
I hope you’ll stop by and see all the other designers cards showing the new release this week at A Day For Daisies. Also, the Newsprint Challenge is still running through Thursday, July 30th at Noon, stop on by the A Day For Daisies Blog.
We’d also love for you to visit our Facebook Community Page as we’d love to see your cards there too!

Finally, the background is impression obsession and the sentiment is Simon Says Stamp “Circle Sayings”.

Cards in Envy Challenge: Anything Goes With A Bow
Happy Monday! For our Cards in Envy Challenge this week we would like to see a bow on your card. It can be in your image or on your card, either way, just tie it up and put a bow on it!
Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 card without any large lumps or bumps. The challenge will run through Sunday, March 15th. Our design team will also be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.
My card features a Mo Manning Digital Imaged called, “Airborne”. Guess I didn’t get enough of the puppies from last challenge. LOL. I colored the image with copics and used the Lawn Fawn “Sunshine” 6 x 6 paper pack. The oval and rectangle dies are My Favorite Things and the oval scallop die is Spellbinders. The sentiment is stamped and die cut with Clearly Besotted “mini banners”. The background is stamped with an Impression Obsession stamp that looks a little like rain and the cloud dies are Lawn Fawn.
Can’t wait to see what you are tying up this week!
Try Stampin’ on Tuesday – Challenge #204
As we scoop ourselves out of the snow here in New York, we’ve got another Try Stampin’ on Tuesday Sketch Challenge. The challenge will remain open until Monday, February 9th and to keep it light and easy, there is no specific theme.
Here’s the sketch:
I chose to go with a masculine/boy style card and rotate the sketch making a horizontal card. I used the “Boy oh Boy” 6 x 6 paper pad from Carta Bella. The eyeglass die is My Favorite Things and the “eye chart” and sentiment is Tim Holtz. Background is Impression Obsession. My plan is to donate this to Send a Smile 4 Kids because they are expanding and have gotten more hospitals in need of cards. Those of you who were sending tons of cards to Operation Write Home and have extras now they have slowed down, please consider donating to this great cause. Here’s how.
One last tidbit. If you like my new Watermark I got it from Karen Giron, at the Sweetest Thing blog who is offering these at a GREAT price. Please support her new endeavor and pass the word to your groups as watermarks are always needed.
