Happy New Year Junkies!!
I don’t know about you, but I plan on making 2017 a year of creativity. Creativity is so restorative for me and a great way to fit in some intentional creativity is to make cards. They are small, completed quickly and so very much appreciated by your recipient.
As a jumpstart to more creativity in your life, I sure hope you will take the time to join us for the January 2017 Blog Hop. Pat is offering 15% off all January release stamps over in the Technique Junkies store until January 9th so you only have a few days left to pick up some stamps to make a card for your sweetie this Valentines Day.
For my card today I’m sharing a little love and hopefully a little inspiration for your love-filled creativity. I began by heat embossing the new release stamp “Messy Love #S744″ in Ranger’s Red Pepper embossing powder on black card stock. With my background done I then prepared a piece of card stock with a few shades of Art Anthology Dimensional Paint’s in Red Velvet, Mi Bella, and Cotton Candy, which I applied in an ombre fashion. Once that was dry, I stamped last years release called “Happy Valentine’s Day” #SD661″ using Black Stazon Ink. I finished off with some “faux” stitching and called her done!
The Design Team and I would like to thank you for your comments both on the Design Team Blog and on our personal blogs. It really means so much to us throughout the year. We’d love to hear from you about what you’d all like to see from our posts here on the TJ Design Team Blog for this 2017 year.
Happy New Year!!
It’s the first of the month and that means it’s time for a Technique Junkies Blog Hop showcasing the new February release! The fabulous Technique Junkie Design Team will provide an amazing selection of inspiration for your enjoyment.
Pat is again offering 15% off all February Release Stamps for one week! In addition to new stamps, Technique Junkies has added a fun new product called Minx, a shimmer ink. This of course is along side some already great art supplies like stencils, art anthology colorations, velvets, and sorbets.
The background on my first card uses “Faux Metal Gelatos from the Artistic Effects CD. I used a Darice brick embossing folder and colored that with a mix of silver, blue, and purple Gelatos to get a stone look. I watercolored my inmate “Mug Shot #SD638” with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Makers after embossing her. The “wonky die” is from My Favorite Things and makes for a great window. I added faux white stitching for more of that black and white contrast and finished off with the fabulous sentiment from “Partners in Crime #SS053.”
My next card features the new stamp, “Drinkin’ and Thinkin’ #SD656.” For those of you who know me know I LOVE COFFEE so I love this stamp. I started by creating a background using the “Distress Stain Dip Technique in the Artistic Effects CD.” I then grabbed the Tim Holtz Coffee Stencil and applied that in Vintage Photo. I stamped “Drinkin’ and Thinkin” then colored her up with Art Anthology Dimensional Paints in “Sunshine and Just Peach by Art Anthology. I finished off with the sentiment from “Simple Sentiments 2, Style B #SS02B.”
My next card uses several of the new stamps. The background is a classic Houndstooth background called, “Houndstooth Check #S665,” The technique is the Distress Stain Dip technique from the Artistic Effects CD. The focal image is from a great travel set called, “Vintage Travel Cases #PS012” which comes with several suit cases, this focal image, and a sentiment which I’ve also used. I added some extra pizazz but dropping on fran’tage embossing powder in copper and heating it from underneath. I distressed the edges with several distress inks in brown and finished off with Black Soot. I colored up some waxy thread with Timeless Colorations by Art Anthology for the final element.
Now, that I’ve shown you what I have to offer, I don’t want you to miss any of the other design teams creativity so I encourage you to start hopping at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.
If you are arriving from Marilyn’s Blog, you in the right place! Gorgeous project Marilyn!
The next stop is the wildly creative Jane Bosi.

I sure hope you enjoy the Technique Junkies Hop! Don’t forget – 15% off February Stamps for the next week only!
I’m so excited to participate in Operation Write Home’s Memorial Day Bloghop for 2014! I’m normally a participant, but this year I’m able to be a host because I just started my blog this year. My son is a Marine stationed in Japan and I’m thrilled to be able to make cards for Operation Write Home.
My first card is an Any Hero card using OWH Sketch 12 and the hop’s theme of Red, White and Blue. The stamp set is Close to My Heart “Freedom”. The eagle is stamped with Tea Dye Distress Ink, then watercolored using Gathered Twigs. Make sure to let your layers dry in between adding colors or they will mix too much without providing the shading you want. The paper is Club Scrap, the ink is Hero Arts and Distress Inks, and the sentiment is Papertrey Ink.
My second card uses Operation Write Home Sketch B-1 – My apologies, I couldn’t pull the image off the site – but here is the link to the PDF for all the sketches. The paper is from Farmhouse Paper Company called Fair Skies. I paper pieced the balloon, embossed the background with a Darice Embossing Folder, added some faux stitching, and topped it off with some wood veneer stars. Guess I was in a vintage mood when I created these two cards. LOL. I’d love to know which you prefer and why?
Now – on to the fun stuff – BLOG CANDY
For this hop I am offering a little blog candy for a random a commenter. I’d also love it if you subscribed to my blog because I love sharing my cards and art journal projects! Happy Memorial Day friends.
