Send a Smile 4 Kids – Challenge #127 – “Punch and Die Cuts”

It’s time for another Send a Smile 4 Kids challenge!  This challenge we are playing with “Punches and Die Cuts” on your cards this week.

Our wonderful sponsors are:

1) Dollar Graphics Depot – offering $15.00 gift certificate

2) Bugaboo – offering seven (7) digi’s to our winner

Thank you so much to our sponsors for supporting SAS4Kids!

Now, on to the inspiration.  For my card I used the Dollar Graphics Depot image called “Natures Colors”. This is an entire sheet of digital images for $1.00!  What a bargain for images that can be used over and over again.

I created the background using the technique I found on Pinterest using glue, distress inks, and a score-pal.  If you want the details, here’s the link.   I used a few dies this week including stitched ovals from My Favorite Things and a bow die by Paper Smooches.  My Tim Holtz sentiment is colored with Copic markers as is the focal image.

I also wanted to remind you that Send a Smile 4 Kids continues to grow and has added even more hospitals and volunteers to take your donated cards.  We hope that after you enter the challenge and consider sending your cards to SAS4Kids for children in need.  Check out how.

Now, let’s get on to those sponsors:

1) Dollar Graphic’s Depot – Offering a $15.00 Gift Certificate to Store

2) A Day For Daisies – offering a $12.00 Gift Certificate to Store

3) Bugaboo – offering  7 digital images of winners choice

Now how about some inspiration?   My first card uses a sweet candy corn image from A Day For Daisies called,  “Little Candy Corn Moon.”   I began with the background using BV23 & BV25 which I texturized with 91% Alcohol on terry cloth fabric.  I then colored the rest of the image and added wink of stella to the stars. My big sentiment is from my stash and unfortunately, I don’t know the maker.  My circle dies are from MFT and the arch die is Simon Says Stamp.

My next card is from the Dollar Graphics Depot called, “Fall Lolly & Landon.”  This is a great pre-colored digi set with five images for just $1.00!  If you are looking to make some quick inexpensive cards, this is the place to look.

I used the Carta Bella “Fall Blessings” paper pack for my card and leaves, which are dies from Impression Obsession.  My sentiment is from Clearly Besotted called, “Many Thanks.”  The dies used were both Simon Says Stamp rectangle and MFT’s stitched circle. I finished off with some twine and called her done.

Thanks for stopping by and we sure hope you’ll come on over to Send a Smile 4 Kids an play along!

Send a Smile 4 Kids: Challenge 106 – Christmas in July

Happy Saturday my Friends.  Today at Send a Smile 4 Kids (SAS4Kids) we are celebrating “Christmas in July.”

If you aren’t familiar with SAS4Kids, their commitment is to support hospitalized children by providing home-made cards that parents, staff, or even the kids themselves can give during this time of need. It’s not a sad cause, in fact, we don’t focus on Get Well cards at all, but make the cards happy and fun.   I sure hope you will join both in our challenge and by sending in some cards, especially now that Operation Write Home is closing. To find out more about donation, look here.

This challenge will run through Friday, August 7th and give you a great head start on some holiday card making.  This challenge is sponsored by some very generous donors who are giving away some great gifts for the winning entry.  The design team also chooses their favorite so there are lots of ways to win.

The donors and prizes are:

1) A Day For Daisies:  Prize: $12.00 Gift Certificate

2) Dollar Graphic’s Depot: Prize:  $15.00 Gift Certificate

3) Fred She Said: Prize: $10 Dollar Gift Certificate

Wow – thank you sponsors, Send a Smile 4 Kids really appreciates your support.

Now, let’s get to some inspiration!  My first card is from A Day For Daisies, called “Christmas Pixie Two.”  I had a bit of fun playing with 91% Alcohol and my Various Ink Refills to create the background.  After applying the color with the Copics and Alcohol I brought in a piece of burlap and sprayed that with 91% Alcohol and pressed for 3 seconds over the color to create texture.  After the background was made, I went on to color the rest of the image with Copics and stamped the sentiment from Ellen Hutson’s 2014 Holiday Release by Julie Ebersole.

My second card is from Dollar Graphic’s Depot called, “Santa and Friends”.  I also colored this with Copic Markers and used Carta Bella “Bundled Up” paper pad. The Sentiment is a stamp and die set from Papertrey Ink and the oval dies are My Favorite Things.

Now how about some inspiration?   My first card uses Dollar Graphics Depot image called, “Kids Playing”.  I can’t get over that you get five (5) images in this set for $1.00.  Amazing.  This sweet boy is colored with Copic Markers.  I created the background with my B91 & V20 markers then faded it out with the zero to give it a patchy cloud like look.  The paper is from Doodle Bug’s, “Take Note” 6 x 6 pack and the sentiment and star are from Lawn Fawn, “Life is Good.” stamp set.

My second card is Henry from Crafty Sentiments.  I colored him with Copics and cut out a frame from My Favorite Things dies to highlight the image. The card base was cut out with the stitched die from Simon Says Stamp using Amy Tangerine’s, “Plus One” collection.  The sentiment is from The Craft Spot.

My second inspiration card is from Oak Pond Creations called “Otis the Wizard”.  What kid doesn’t like wizards?  I wanted this card to be inspirational for a child so I added all the things one can “be”, the first of which, is yourself.  I colored Otis with copics. Sentiments are from Simon Says Stamp.  Square Die is My Favorite Things.
