Technique Junkies Blog Hop!

Is it November already? Unbelievable!  We are well on our way to the holidays!  I sure hope you are enjoying the 30 Days of Christmas on the Technique Junkie Design Team’s site.

For today, the Technique Junkies Design Team is showing off the Technique Junkies new releases for November.

I had the opportunity to meet with Pat at the Hampton Roads show this past month and was able to pick up some great Art Anthology Products.  I have to admit I am IN LOVE with these products and am anxious to add more to my collection.

As usual, Pat has come up with some great new stamps for this release and I know you are going to love them.  Pat is offering 15% off all November Release Stamps for one week!  WooHoo!

I’d love for you to stop by all the design team’s blogs for great ideas and samples of other new November Release stamps  you can find in the Technique Junkies Store.

My first card features the “Brick Wall #S646,” which was heat embossed and filled in with “Black Leather Jacket Sorbet” giving the wall fabulous texture!  I then added additional color to the wall in Teracotta-Velvet, Pumpkin Spice-Sorbet, and Kenyan Copper-Sorbet. I then stamped “Love My Shoes #SD653” over a brayered background in matching colors using Marvy Metallitcs .  I finished off with the sentiment “Celebrate in Style #SDX062” and again edged with more Black Leather Sorbet.

My second card uses the Stained Resist Technique from the “Artistic Effects CD.”  I began by stamping “Celestial Dangles #S656” in Versamark then embossing with Stampendous in Aged Gold Enamel.  To add color to the dangling stars, I used Distress Stain in Brushed Pewter. My sentiment “To The Moon #SD611” was embossed with gold on Bazzill heavy vellum and wrapped around the card.

My final card  uses the same “Stained Resist Technique” from the Artistic Effects CD. I white heat embossed the “Celestial Dangles SD 656” then applied Dusty Concord and Stormy Sky Distress Inks to the stars and dangles.  My sentiment is a very versatile stamp called, “Merry Christmas 2 #SDX065” which is stamped on vellum with eggplant powder (hard to see it’s purple), applied on silver glitter paper and wrapped around to avoid seeing the adhesive.  I finished with some silver and gold and sequins.

Sassy Cheryl Designs

It’s been so long since I’ve posted a card that I haven’t made for a design team!  I colored up this adorable image from Sassy Cheryl’s Designs called “Count Dracula.”

I used my Copic Markers in V01, V05, V06 & V09 as well as my cool grey’s C2 – C10.  I got this great new die from Poppy Stamps sold by Ellen Hutson’s store which I used as a frame.  The paper is DCWV “Spookytime” collection and the edges are black soot distress ink.

Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge #110: Fall Colors For KIDS!

Hey friends, it’s Saturday and time for another Send a Smile 4 Kids challenge.  This is such a great cause that supports hospitalized children by providing them cheerful cards in times of need.  What’s even better news is they are growing and need your support!  If you are wondering where to send all those cards that you make, please consider donating.  Here’s a link how.

For our challenge we are highlighting Fall Colors for Kids.  I’m sure those of you who follow me know that Fall is my favorite season and I am thrilled to offer some inspiration and see what you will create using Fall Colors For Kids.  As you know our challenges are supported by great sponsors and this week we have:

Lacy Sunshine:  3 images of winners choice

Stitchy Bear:  $10.00 Gift Certificate to Store

Inspired by Stamping:  $20.00 Gift Certificate to Store

Let’s get to some inspiration.  My first card features Lacy Sunshine’s “Eleanor & Pickles Book of Spells” colored with copic markers.  I used a Papertrey ink tag to cut the image out and tied it with some halloween bakers twine.  The spiders are from an older Inkadinkado stamp set and the paper is a combination of KC & Company and DCWV.

My second card uses Stitchy Bear’s “Pumpkin by Craftygirl Creations” also colored with Copic Markers.  The paper is from the new “Fall Blessings” 6 x 6 pack from Carta Bella and cut out with a Simon Says Stamp die.  The circle dies are My Favorite Things as is the border die under the word banner.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my inspiration and would love to see you over at Send a Smile 4 Kids!

Sketch Saturday Challenge #379 – Bunny Zoe Crafts

It’s Saturday and that means it’s time for a new Sketch Saturday challenge and this week we are sponsored by Bunny Zoe Crafts who is offering a 10 pound gift certificate to their online store for our random winner!

The sketch this week is:

Today I’ve used a digital image by Tiddly Inks though you can find Tiddly Inks Clear Stamps at Bunny Zoe Crafts.  I colored this adorable witch with Copic markers and used DCWV’s Spooky time paper stack. The circle dies are from My Favorite Things, the bat and boo dies are paper smooches, and the pumpkin is from Memory Box.

This is a great sketch and I can’t wait to see what you create!

The House That Stamps Built; Designer Choice Challenge

It’s the second Wednesday of September, summer is now over, and the kids are back in school.  Today, I am sharing the Designers Choice Challenge at The House That Stamp Built hosted by Deonna who has chosen the theme of “Falling For Fall/Autumn.”

As with our other challenges, we are offering a $25.00 gift certificate to the Repeat Impressions store for our random winner. Don’t forget, if you use a RI stamp, you get an extra entry!

For my “Falling For Fall card” I broke out my gold leafing flakes. This is a old time favorite technique that is so perfect for those fall themed cards.  The technique is easy. I began by applying Versamark Ink to “Oak Leaf Silhouette #5110”“Maple Leaf Silhouette #5127,” and “Random Dots #3404c” then applied “heat and stick” powder. Once that is covered you heat it up with your embossing gun until a shine appears, but not too long because you will ruin the stick.  Then dip your project in the flakes and burnish off with a stiff brush.

To finish the card I stamped “Let Us #2826” sentiment across a My Favorite Things die on DCWV foil paper.

I can’t wait to see your Falling for Fall cards at The House that Stamps Built as this time of year is my absolute favorite.  The colors are so magnificent, there’s a crispness in the air and the holidays are around the corner.  YEAH!

Brown Sugar Challenge #157 Animals!

Happy Friday!  It’s time for a new challenge at Brown Sugar Challenges and today, we are featuring “Animals”.  This challenge is sponsored Robyn’s Fetish Digital Images who is offering a gift of 3 Digital Images for our winner.

For my card today, I’ve used Robyn’s Fetish image called, “Farah Fawn” to showcase my “Animal” card.  I colored Farah with Copic Markers and framed her using a My Favorite Things die with burlap paper by DCWV.   I gave her a sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s “Chit Chat” set as well as a birdy friend from that same set.  My paper is Lawn Fawn’s “Into the Woods.”

Since I am no longer sending my cards to Operation Write Home I broke out my Wink of Stella glitter pen and gave birdy a bit of shine.

Here’s the sketch:

For my card I chose the Little Claire digital image, “Camelia”, which I colored with Copic Markers.  The sentiment, square, and label dies are from My Favorite Things.  I finished off the embellishments with some lemon bakers twine.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with using the new Sketch Saturday Sketch!

Sketch Saturday Challenge #356

Happy Saturday!  Today’s new Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp!  That means a $25.00 gift certificate to our random winner.  Yippee.  You have until Friday, April 17th for a chance to win.

Here’s the sketch:

For my card I chose a previous kit stamp from Simon Says Stamp called, “Favorite Flowers”. The design paper is from Basic Grey’s, “KneeHighs” collection.  The “Good Times” die is from My Favorite Things cut out from DCWV foil paper.   I then took a panel and stamped several of the flowers in Hero Arts Shadow Inks.  The star is a die from Simon Says Stamp and part of a great set called, “Bundle of Stitched Shapes.”

I can’t wait to see what you come up with using the new Sketch Saturday Sketch!

Cards in Envy Challenge “En-Twined”

Hello friends!  It’s Monday and time for another Cards in Envy challenge.  This one is really fun and involves something we all have TONS of……TWINE.  Yes, break out some of those yards of twine and come up with a wonderful creation.  The challenge begins today and goes through October 5th, 2014.  You may enter up to 3 times and make sure your cards fit comfortably in your envelope, after all, it’s Cards in Envy!

Today, my inspiration for you is a birdbrain image from “From the Heart Stamps”.  If you haven’t visited this great blog, I do encourage you to do so.  The images are a blast.  For the “en-twined” portion of the card, I took the broom and created “straw” out of my twine.  I cut multiple strings and tied it down on either side through a puncture in the card.  The image is colored with Copic Markers and the paper is DCWV “The Spooky Time Stack”.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.

Let’s see what you can come up with.  I do hope you join us, we love to see your creations!

Send a Smile 4 Kids – Challenge #86 Cute Halloween/Fall Cards for Kids

Happy Saturday everyone!  It’s time for another Send a Smile 4 Kids Card Challenge!  You ready?  This challenge is featuring kid friendly Fall or Halloween cards.  You can use any image be it rubber stamp, digital or cut file, it’s up to you.  We have some great sponsors for this challenge that would love for you to use their images in the challenge, so check them out.  The first sponsor is:

1)  The Crackerbox Palace – Prize – $15.00 Gift Certificate

2) The Cutting Cafe – Prize – 3 sets of digis or cutting files

3) Stitchy Bear Digital Outlet – Prize – 2 digital images – Value $6.00

Now, let’s get to some inspiration!  My first card showcases images from The Cutting Cafe’s “Halloween Time”.  This set alone comes with 55 assorted digital images and I just used a few to make a scene!  Fun set.   I created shadows with Copic Markers and the sentiment stamp is an oldie but a goodie from Stampendous.  Paper is from DCWV 6 x 6 pad “Spooky Time”.

My second card is from The Crackerbox Palace using the Pumpkin and Autumn Blessing images, which I colored with Copic Markers and design paper from Authentique’s “Enchanted”.  The stitching is created by the new “Stitched” die from paper smooches.  I finished this one off with some waxy thread and called her done.

My final offering is from Stitchy Bear’s Digital Outlet called “New Hat”.  She’s colored in Copic Markers with a small strip of We Are Memory Keepers “Spooksville” design paper on the edge.  The “Boo” is a new Paper Smooches Die.  Though I am already Copic Certified, I just took another awesome class by Jennifer Dove through Annie’s Closet.  If you haven’t seen her work, you’re really missing out.  She does a great job and explaining how to color people.  She also has a beginner class that is supposed to be really good too.  The coloring I’ve done is really basic compared to what she does, but it was my first go after the class and I can see more definition in the face that I normally produce.  I look forward to hearing if you’ve also taken this class and what you thought about it.
