Technique Junkies – Mandala Mistletoe

Hello Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse here with another post showcasing the October Technique Junkies release.  When I was making this card I really wanted to use the Mistletoe stamp in a different way so I performed a bit of stamp surgery by removing the attached sentiment.  Worry not, if you want to use your sentiment again, just put it together on the stamp block and it’s good as new.  Cutting apart your stamps gives a lot of new ways to use them.

Once my stamp was recovered from surgery I used the leaf portion to create somewhat of a mandala pattern for a background.  Before I did this though I created those embossed circles. To achieve this, lay out your circle dies and washi tape them together.  Then run it through your die cutting machine using the embossing folder all at the same time.   Here’s what they look like so you have an idea.

For my focal image I stenciled the Hero Arts Reindeer with Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber inks. I fussy cut him out then applied additional shading to make him pop.  My sentiment is from the gorgeous “Christmas Ornaments Trio Set of 9” which I embossed.

I hope you are enjoying the 30 Days of Christmas here at the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.

Happy Inking

Technique Junkies: Red or White, Hic….

Hello Junkies!!

The Crafty Nurse here today with a bright and festive card featuring one of Pat’s October release stamps called “Red or White Christmas #SD750″.

The background was created using the Pasted Resist Technique from the Sensational Stencil CD. I began with the Tim Holtz Poinsettia stencil and embossing paste.  After that was dried, I sprayed with Red Pepper Color Wash Spray.  Then over that I lightly spritzed Dylusions White Linen Spray.  This combination of colors is really vibrant and perfect for a holiday red. I also spritzed the white Dylusions over my black card stock for more texture. My card base is a very deep olive green and looks really great against that stunning red.

Stop on by the Technique Junkies Store to check out the October Release.

Until then, happy inking

Mermaid Love – Technique Junkies

Hey Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse back with some inky inspiration for this wonderful July summer day!

Today, I made a card using a technique found on CD 10  from August/September 2012, called, Colorwash Alcohol Technique.  I then stamped the stunning “Mermaid Love S698” using Versafine Black Onyx Ink, then clear heat embossed.

The sentiment is also a July release called, “Better at the Lake – Set of 5 – SS059”. I’m really pleased with how Stream, Sailboat, and Wheatgrass inks look like water.

Well, I’m off to go make some more cards.

See you soon,
