Crafting By Design – Guest Designer

Hello all.  I’m honored to have been chosen again as a guest designer for Crafting By Design.  Today, the challenge is “snowmen” and I knew that From The Heart Stamps would be a great choice to find a perfect snowman because Faith is in the middle of Project 100 snowmen.

For my card I chose From The Heart Stamps “Snowman Drummer.” I colored him with Copics and used Lawn Fawn’s “Peace, Joy, Love” paper collection.  The great digi tree’s are from “In The Meadow,” also FTHS.  The snow globe digi is by My Favorite Things and the stickers are Basic Grey.

The House That Stamps Built; Designer Choice Challenge

It’s the second Wednesday of August which means it’s time for a Designers Choice Challenge at The House That Stamp Built!  Today, Cherri is hosting our challenge and she has chosen “Sun, Sand & Surf.”  Great theme for summer Cherri!

As with our other challenges, we are offering a $25.00 gift certificate to the Repeat Impressions store for our random winner.  Don’t forget, if you use a RI stamp, you get an extra entry!

For my “Sun, Sand & Surf” card I began by stamping a text background using “Postcard 5015-P” to create the feeling of travel.  I then stamped two panels of the verticals stamp called, “Beach Positive 6007-M” with Versamark ink then white heat embossed and inked with Gathered Twigs Distress ink.  The “Large Palm Trees 2408-N”  was stamped with Sepia Archival Ink and also distressed.  Finally, the sentiment is made from small Basic Grey stickers.  Sure looks like a great place to be!

Where will your Sun, Sand and Surf take you this week?  Please show us with your card at The House that Stamps Built.  Happy Wednesday!

Cards in Envy Challenge – Make it a Banner Year!

Happy New Year friends!  With the holidays over, it’s time to get back into some card making challenges again!  Today I’m posting my design team entry for the Cards in Envy challenge “Make it a Banner Year”.  This challenges calls for using a banner of any type.  Flag banners, label banners, tag banners, you name it, be creative.  As usual, the only rule is your card must fit into a standard A2 envelope for ease of mailing.  The design team will be choosing their favorites and the winners will be posted on the Cards in Envy Blog.

Now, ready for some inspiration?  With all the Christmas cards I’ve made lately, I was in the mood to make a love card as we prepare for Valentines Day.  If you are also a supporter of Operation Write Home, Love cards are one of the most needed cards and perfect for OWH anytime.

My card uses the 6 x 6 design pack called, “Black & White” by Glitz.  I stamped the Simon Says Stamp “Sending Happy Thoughts” envelope on the Glitz paper and strung them up using some waxy thread from Close to My Heart.  The LOVE sentiment are Basic Grey stickers and the “you” sentiment is from Winnie & Walter’s “Big Bold You”.  I used a heart die to cut out some red cardstock from Bazzil and covered it with Glossy Accents.  Finally, a sprinkling of sequence and gems to finish it off.

I can’t wait to see what your Banner Year looks like!

New Design Team Announcement for Send a Smile 4 Kids!

I’m absolutely thrilled to announce my addition as a new Design Team Member to the Send a Smile 4 Kids Design Team!  WooHoo.  This is a fantastic group of ladies, lead by Karen Hasheck.  Some reasons I love this site is it is both a challenge blog as well as a card donation program that sends cards to kids (from 1 to 19) who are hospitalized.  I’d love for you to drop by the site and check out the way to donate some of your extra cards to cheer up some hospitalized kids and teens.  For directions on how to donate, please visit SAS4kids site.

In celebration, I’ve prepared a card that would be a great example of the type of cards Send a Smile 4 Kids is looking for.  The stamps are from the new Mama Elephant set called “In My Heart”, which I colored using Copic Markers.  If you look closely at the white circles, I used one of my dies to create an embossed image using a die cut.  To do that, you simply put a silicone matt in your cutting sandwich and instead of cutting, you will emboss.  I do make sure my die is facing upward so that less pressure is created.  The papers and envelope for this card is from the July Simon Says Stamp kit.  I look forward to bringing you all some fun inspiration that will cheer up the hearts and minds of those children who are currently hospitalized.
