Hello Crafty Friends! I love the monthly Lindy’s Color Challenges and today I finished my card for the November entry. For this month I’ve combined the Lindy’s Challenge with some Art Anthology Products I’ve purchased at Technique Junkies. Right now, all Christmas stamps are on sale as are all November releases stamps through November the 8th. Just a few more days so don’t miss out!
Here are the gorgeous colors this month:
For the Lindy’s challenge, I used a combination of Sprays and Magical Mica’s. I began by creating the background on a piece of old cardboard which I painted with heavy body gesso. I then applied sprays in Golden Sleigh Bells and Bucket of Blood Red and mixed up magicals to create sprays in Canna Lily Orange and Poincianna Red Flame.
Once my background was dried, I mixed up some Golden Sleigh Bells with Translucent Texture Paste and stenciled through the “Retro Tiles” stencil by Art Anthology. I used up the remaining paste to create texture around the edges.
Now it’s on the creating the flowers. I sprayed the flowers with Canna Lily Orange, Poincianna Red Flame, and Golden Sleigh Bells. I finished the middles with “Black Leather Jacket” Dimensional Sorbet. I also mixed some glass bead gel by Liquitex with Poincianna Red Flame to create that vibrant red texture on the My Favorite Things Feather and edged it with more of the Black Leather Jacket Art Anthology paint. I created the buttons by spraying Canna Lily Orange and applying Golden Sleigh Bells Magicals. Then in the middle of the buttons, I applied hero arts gems and sealed it with Art Anthology “Splashed” which is a fabulous clear coat finish with shine.
To get some of the green in my project, I mixed Greased Lightening Green Magical with water and applied it to a Basic Grey wood stick and Maya Road tickets.
I’d say we’ve achieved some texture!
Every month Our Daily Bread holds a monthly challenge on the Operation Write Home website. For every 25 cards that are entered, ODBD offers to ship a box of cards to our heroes. If there are 50 entries, which is the OWH goal, then 2 free boxes are offered.
This month the theme is a sentiment. I’ve taken a Club Scrap stamp and heat embossed it with white. I then took some distress inks and applied them to an acrylic block (see my tutorial on The House That Stamps Built), to create a background. I finished off the card with some sequins.
I purchased this Aurora Wings digital image during the holidays and just brought it out to color with my Copics for the first time today. I adore poppies and red is my favorite color. For the reds I used R05, R24, R29, R56, and highlighted with RV99. I cut out the image with Lawn Fawn’s stitched rectangle and stamped the sentiment using Hand Lettered Hello from WPlus 9.
This cute little Fairy Bug is free on The Day For Daisies challenge site. Come on over, get her, and enter a card for a chance to win. I colored my card with Copics, cut her out with my Spellbinders hexagon dies, and added a Lawn Fawn stitched border. The paper is an older My Mind’s Eye paper pack called Quite Contrary Jack & Jill. Sentiment is My Favorite Things “I Pick You” and I finished with a few gems.
This card was shown in the Online Card Classes Holiday Workshop last week. Dawn Woleslagle was the instructor for this class and she did a FANTASTIC job teaching so you can make this yourself. If you don’t take Online Card Classes, I really do encourage you to do so. You can take them anytime and they last forever. I am constantly going back to my older classes and watching the great content again. This card is made with WPlus9’s stamp “Woodland Wreaths” colored with distress ink pads and pens. The stamp is used more as a base and the majority of the card is painted or drawn. The bow is a My Favorite Things die with a hero arts gem in the center. I’m pretty happy with the outcome.
I wanted to try watercoloring on a digital image so I grabbed this freebie from A Day For Daisies and brought it into Photoshop. I created this cluster of 3 from the one image and printed the image out on regular typing paper. I then took a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch piece of 108 lb watercolor paper (lighter so it goes through the printer better) and taped it right over the image using washi tape and centering it over the image. I put that back in the printer and re-printed the image. My error was I used my Ink Jet printer instead of a laser jet. As you can tell, the ink bled. I don’t think it’s horrible, so I didn’t re-do it, but next time I will certainly use the laser. The image was colored using Distress Inks in Worn Lipstick and Scattered Straw. The background is Tumbled Glass and Bundled Sage. I then took black soot, added water, and splattered over image. The sentiment is Hero Arts “All Occasion Messages”.
Card made using Technique Junkies Watercolor Tissue Paper technique. Die Cut from Simon Says Stamp and Ribbon Ellen Hutson freebie from my recent order. Thanks Ellen. Embossing Folder from Cuttlebug.
This OWH Challenge calls for a Missing You card using at least two banners and one circle. I love a challenge that allows you to use your own creativity. The supplies are all from the Simon Says Stamp July Card Kit. This kit just keeps on giving. Dies used are from My favorite Things and include, pierced flags, pierced circles, and frame. I colored the envelops with C1 and C4 Copic Markers.
Here is another card using the Simon Says Stamp July Card Kit with added balloon embellishment and twine from my stash and birthday sentiment from Hero Arts. The shape is die cut from Sizziz/Tim Holtz Bigz die called “ornamental”. Ink is Hero Arts Shadow in Navy and SSS Lipstick Red.
