Our Daily Bread for Operation Write Home
Every month Our Daily Bread holds a monthly challenge on the Operation Write Home website. For every 25 cards that are entered, ODBD offers to ship a box of cards to our heroes. If there are 50 entries, which is the OWH goal, then 2 free boxes are offered.
This month the theme is a sentiment. I’ve taken a Club Scrap stamp and heat embossed it with white. I then took some distress inks and applied them to an acrylic block (see my tutorial on The House That Stamps Built), to create a background. I finished off the card with some sequins.
Sketch Saturday Challenge #345 – Sami Stamps
It’s Saturday morning and that means it’s time for a new Sketch Saturday challenge. This week we are being sponsored by the talented Sami Stamps who is offering a generous $12.00 gift certificate to the random winner of the challenge.
Here’s the Sketch:
How about a little inspiration? This adorable image from Sami is called, “Sweet Girl”. I colored her with Copic Markers and used an impression obsession background stamp in versamark. The stars, circle, and label dies are all My Favorite Things and the scallop die is Lifestyle Crafts. The sentiment is WPlus 9 “Hand Lettered Hello”. I finished her off with a few sequins and called her a sketch!
Won’t you join us this week?
Sentimental Sunday – New Beginnings
Our Daily Bread: inspiration challenge
Lindy Doodle
Happy Sunday! Today I put together the “milk” challenge at Doodle Pantry and the January Lindy’s Stamp Gang color challenge. I didn’t have a specific “milk” digi, so I took license and used one with ice cream which is made from milk. For the inks, I used Lindy’s Magical’s in Cape Code Coral, Sprays in Jazzy’ Jivin’ Purple, Don’t eat Yellow Snow, and Pop Rock Purple.
The Doodle Pantry Challenge also had an option to use brads or buttons so I added a brad from the depths of my stash. As far as technique, I white heat embossed the “Life of the Party Dots” from Hero Arts/Basic Grey, then wet some 140lb Strathmore watercolor paper with water, diluted the magicals and applied the inks sporadically to the wet paper to mix. The circle is die cut from the stitched circles at My Favorite Things and embossed with a Darice folder. The ribbon is a freebie from Ellen Hutson which she sends you with each and every order. Isn’t that generous?

Operation Write Home Sketch 244 & Our Daily Bread December Challenge
Happy Saturday! I’ve finished the majority of my Christmas cards and now able to get back to some generalized crafting. Today I am using Operation Write Home’s Sketch 244 for the December Our Daily Bread challenge that calls for primary colors. Love cards are always needed at OWH so I used some Lilly Bee design paper and a Paper Smooches sentiment to make this card. The wood elements are Studio Calico and painted with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Flat Magical’s (non-shimmer). Each entry in the ODB challenge will help with shipping costs so please join us in this challenge.
Operation Write Home Sketch 238 & Our Daily Bread October Card
I combined the Operation Write Home Sketch #238 with the Our daily bread October challenge listed on the OWH Blog which calls for a winter card that is non-Christmas. My first thought was to do white on white snowflakes, which I should have stuck with, but decided to break out my Wink Of Stella silver pen and colored the snowflakes. Then I remembered NO GLITTER on an OWH card – so I covered it with embossing powder and melted multiple layers, then froze it so it would crack. The silver snowflakes now look grey. Oh well, it’s the thought that counts! The paper is one from a few years ago by Little Yellow Bicycle called “Winterings”, I do really like it. My sentiment is from My Favorite Things and the sequins in pretty pink posh.
Superhero Birthday
Card made from sketch by Seems a Little Sketchy with Tiddly Inks Digital Image using Bazzill Basics Dynomite 6 x 6 paper pack. Sentiment is Doodle Pantry. The panel is embossed with Paper Studio star folder and the ovals are dies from My Favorite Things. The edges are inked with Distress Ink in Antique Linen. I entered card in Crazy 4 Challenges (C4C239), June’s Our Daily Bread Challenge, Seize the Birthday, Simon Says Stamp and Lisa Somersville Bloggers Challenge. Let’s hear if for the boys!
