I combined the Operation Write Home Sketch #238 with the Our daily bread October challenge listed on the OWH Blog which calls for a winter card that is non-Christmas. My first thought was to do white on white snowflakes, which I should have stuck with, but decided to break out my Wink Of Stella silver pen and colored the snowflakes. Then I remembered NO GLITTER on an OWH card – so I covered it with embossing powder and melted multiple layers, then froze it so it would crack. The silver snowflakes now look grey. Oh well, it’s the thought that counts! The paper is one from a few years ago by Little Yellow Bicycle called “Winterings”, I do really like it. My sentiment is from My Favorite Things and the sequins in pretty pink posh.
Happy Sunday Friends. Here is my go at the Operation Write Home Sketch #237 using Glitz “Black and White paper pack, Winnie & Walter Sentiment and American Crafts heart chain stamp. OWH can always use LOVE cards to send back home so you can’t go wrong with these.
Card three is based on Operation Write Home’s Card Sketch #235. I also did some stamp alteration again for this card. I wanted to make this a love card and not an ice cream one, so instead of cutting up my stamp, I used scotch tape to selectively block off words on the stamp allowing me to ink it up, then pull off the tape and only stamp the words I wanted. The background was embossed with the new Tim Holtz texture fade called “waves and bubbles”.
I just bought this Mo Manning digital image and think he is so adorable. I used the new Carta Bella “Boy oh Boy” by Carina Gardner, which is perfect for boys and teen males. The wonky shaped die is My Favorite Things Blueprint 11. The sentiment is part of a Paper Smooches “Happy Birthday” stamp, but I only inked it up half way. I really like to use my supplies in ways they weren’t intended. It makes me feel like I’m getting my monies worth! I colored the image with Copics and inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress Inks.

Back to playing in my July Simon Says Stamp Card Kit for July. This card uses this weeks Operation Write Home Sketch 231. I colored the envelops with Copics in B14, B05 and B37 and used one of the stickers that come in the kit. The “love” stamp is part of the “Lots of Love” stamp, only partially inked. Don’t forget to stretch your stamps by using portions of sentiments or even cutting them if needed. You can always put them back on the block the way they were intended.
Card made with Pure Innocence Stamp from My Favorite Things using this weeks Operation Write Home Card Sketch 230. Instead of my usual Copic Markers, tonight I brought out the Prismacolor Pencils with Gamsol. I’m really green on this technique so the blending is pretty rough. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches and paper from My Minds Eye and Amy Tangerine. Background Stamp is Chicken Wire.
Card 4 uses Operation Write Home Sketch 227 with June Simon Says Stamp Kit. I stamped the sentiment and flowers with Hero Arts Shadow Ink, tied a bow with some jute from my stash, slapped on some sparkle gems from the kit and called it a card. Using these card sketches sure helps to speed up making cards for Operation Write Home!
