It’s Monday and time for another Cards In Envy Challenge. As we approach Mother’s Day, our challenge will center around “Motherly Love”. This is a very open invitation to be creative. The rules are simple for this challenge and require only that your card fit into a A2 standard envelope.
Today, my card was inspired by Therese Calvird who designs for AlteNew. My card uses the “Oriental Orchid” by AlteNew as well as AlteNew Inks. The design paper is My Favorite things and the sentiment is Clearly Besotted “Best Mom”.
We look forward to your cards over at the Cards in Envy blog. Happy card making!!
Over at the Ellen Hutson’s Classroom there is a Mix It Up Challenge that calls for a card using products from Ellen Hutson and for January, My Favorite Things. I probably use either a My Favorite Things stamp or die on every project so I just had to participate.
In fact, I just got the new release Tag Builders 5 in the mail today so I was exceptionally happy to play with my new goodies. For the Ellen component, I used the great starburst image in “Merry & Bright” both in the tag and in the background. I created the shaker with the Tag Builders die by MFT and for paper I used MyMinds Eye “Fancy That.” Finally, for the sentiment I used another new release stamp called, “Love You More.”
Today I broke out my distress ink cubes to watercolor with for the Lawnscaping “Try a New Technique” challenge. I hadn’t had a chance to use the “Soy Happy” stamp set so I thought the two would be a good merge.
I started with the new Tim Holtz stencil called “Mesh” using old paper distress ink. After watercoloring all the images on watercolor paper stamped with archival ink I fussy cut them and went around with a black pen to clean up the edges (for more on how to do this check out my other post). I arranged the images and stamped the heart coloring it with Pigma Archival Brush Pen in red.
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Saturday! You know I love the weekend because it means it’s time to create. Today I used my Kuretake watercolors on the new stamp set by Julie Ebersole for Essentials by Ellen. Ellen is holding a “Mix it up” challenge combining Essentials products and Hero Arts. Today, I used the Hero Arts background stamp “Capture Number Background”.
Good Morning – It’s Friday – YEAH! Today I’ve used Prismacolor Pencils. This is my first image using this technique from the Kit & Clowder new Colored Pencil Class. The card design is the MFT Sketch 218. Circle Die is My Favorite Things and the Rectangle Die is Lawn Fawn.
I have been buying Lindy’s Stamp Gang products for over 10 years now and I love them as much today as I did when I got my first “moon shadows”. This months color scheme for the Lindy’s February 2015 Color Challenge is very vibrant so instead of doing full sprays on my card, I spattered. I stenciled the heart using 3D molding paste mixed with Black Orchid Black magical mica (I think this is discontinued as I couldn’t find in the store). This isn’t the black that was called for in the challenge, but it was the only color I didn’t have on hand out of the 5 chosen, so I improvised. I then splattered Caribbean Blue Flat Fabio, Bougainvillea Fuchsia Starburst, Pretty in Pink Pink Starburst, and Frozen Jack Frost making sure to dry in between each layer. That helps so the colors don’t muddy. I also created my own stencil mask using the Simon Says Stamp “Clustered Leaf Die”. I based my design on the Freshly Made sketch below.
Here is the color palette:
It’s Monday and time for another Cards In Envy Challenge. As we near Valentines Day, this challenge will be perfect as it’s “Hearts a Flutter”, which calls for at least 2 hearts on your card. The rules are simple for this challenge and simply require that your card fit into a A2 standard envelope.
For some inspiration I chose A Day For Daisies image called, “Cute Fairy Waiting”. Her sweet headband is made from hearts. I colored her with copics and used a Lifestyle Crafts square scallop die. The paper pack is an older one from Lily Bee called, “Head over Heels” and the small tag dies are My Favorite Things tied with waxy thread from Close To My Heart. I finished off with some gems and fluttered away! Come join us!
Hello all and happy Friday! With all the weather we have been having the mail has been delayed and I just got my February Simon Says Stamp kit in the mail yesterday. Here is my first card using the kit and I can tell this is going to be one of my favorites. I love the color and the extras in this months kit. I used the Sugar Sketch 19 as a basis to make the card. The die is from Impression Obsession that I paper pieced with the kit papers. The hearts are from the rub-ons and the bar across the card is from the paint chip paper.
Another fun card from my time at Online Card Classes called Gesso Resist as taught by Julie Ebersole. I love how this came out and it’s so easy. Clean & Simple isn’t really my general style, which is why I’m taking this class. If you aren’t taking it, I sure encourage you to do so. You can start anytime. This card uses gesso, distress inks in Worn Lipstick, Ripe Persimmon, and Picked Raspberry. The die is Papertrey Ink cut 4 times – 3 in white and one pink. Background stamp is from this months Simon Says Stamp kit.
