Monthly Archives: April 2016
Hello Friends! It’s Monday morning and time for a new Cards in Envy challenge. Today we are having a PARTY!!! A “birthday party” to be more specific. You have until Sunday, May 1st to submit your entry and as our name states, your card must fit nicely in a standard sized A2 envelope. That means no big lumps, bumps, or large embellishments.
I have been wanting to break out my Crazy Bird set for some time and thought this is a perfect challenge to do some low level layering so that my card still fits well into a standard envelope. I began by creating a watercolor background using Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron, Mustard Seed and Carved Pumpkin. I then ran that through a Cuttlebug folder and cut it out with a Simon Says Stamp stitched die. My balloon and tie are colored with more of the Mustard Seed and Carved Pumpkin adding in a little Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey and Fossilized Amber. The hat is Black Soot and Hickory Smoke. Finally, I used the Tim Holtz sentiment stamped with archival and watercolored again with distress inks as above.
We sure hope you’ll join the party over at Cards in Envy! We can’t wait to see your cards. Have fun!
Happy Saturday Friends! It’s time for another Send a Smile 4 Kids (SAS4Kids) challenge and the theme for this entry is Animals! At SAS4Kids, we are so fortunate to have spectacular sponsors for our challenges and this week is no different. I’d also like to mention if you are interested in bringing some joy into the lives of kids who are ill and hospitalized, we’d love for you to send in some of your cards for the kids; here’s how.
Now let’s get on to those great sponsors:
1) DRS Designs: Prize is $10.00 Gift Certificate
2) Stampendous: Prize is $20.00 Gift Certificate
My card today features the DRS Designs, “Friendly Flower Frog’ which I colored with Copic Markers. My papers are from Simple Stories “DIY Boutique” collection and froggy is on a My Favorite Things cross stitched circle die.
It’s Friday and today at A Day For Daisies we are showcasing the Vintage Hat Collection! I’d also like to remind you we are still playing the “Add Lace” Challenge that ends on April 21st at Noon so come on by and enter while you can.
To highlight this collection, I made a card using “Vintage Dried Rose.” This gorgeous image stands on its own. I used Zig Clean Clear Brush Markers on watercolor paper with no water, only blending the markers with lighter markers. This helps reduce the bleeding from the printed image. Also, always let it dry well. The sentiment is WPlus 9 and the circle die is My Favorite Things.
I’m here today with a little Mid-Week DT Inspiration for From The Heart Stamps! My card today is colored with Copic Markers using the “Flower Chick.” To add texture, I used a cuttlebug embossing folder and created a frame using the My Favorite Things “wonky frame” die. My sentiment and banner are from Simon Says Stamp. I hope you’ll stop by this week to check out both the Sketch Challenge and the Stamp of the Month Challenge at the From The Heart Stamps Blog.
It’s the second Wednesday of August which means it’s time for a Designers Choice Challenge at The House That Stamp Built! Today, Cherri is hosting our challenge and she has chosen “Who Let The Dogs Out.” Another great theme Cheri!
For my “Who Let The Dogs Out” card I stenciled a background using Simon Says Stamp paw print stencil with distress inks. I then stamped Repeat Impressions “Golden Retriever 8121-P” on Bristol Smooth paper to create my focal image. I added “hi friend” from Repeat Impressions “Hello Cling” set.
I wonder who will “let your dogs out” this week over at The House that Stamps Built. Happy Wednesday!
The Crafty Nurse here sharing more inky goodness with the newly released Stylized Rose image from Technique Junkies April release. This is a fabulous stamp and perfect for so many occasions. I paired it with the “Live, Love, Laugh Frame SD662″ which as you can see fits perfectly with the stylized rose stamp.
The background was created using Copic Various inks blown around with a straw over glossy card stock. To color the roses, I directly applied Tombow markers to the stamp and spritzed with water for a watercolor look.
I hope you’ve all had a chance to visit the Technique Junkies store to check at the April release. See you in a few weeks with more inky goodness.
Happy Saturday! Today’s new Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp who is offering a very generous $25.00 gift certificate to their store for our random winner. You have until Friday, April 15th for a chance to win.
Here’s the sketch:
For my card I used the July 2015 Simon Says Stamp Kit, “Sailing.” It comes with a sweet little sailboat die that is still available. I used Simon Says Stamp “Surf Blue” that comes in the Hybrid Cubes for the waves and the “mini stars” which is perfect for a little accent. The sentiment is Simon’s “Best Hugs.”
It’s Friday and time for a new challenge at A Day For Daisies by “adding lace” to your project. Using the Vintage Bride new release, it’s sure to be a perfect combination! Stop by the ADFD Blog by Thursday, April 21st to enter your card for a chance to win some free images!
For my card today I am using, “Vintage Brides Dress” which is on sale this week for $2.00! I colored her up with Copics in in E30, RV55, RV52 and 0 – that’s it. The lace is Tim Holtz died using Lindy’s Stamp Gang Cotton Candy Pink and Art Anthology “warm” and the gold striping is Washi Tape.
The Crafty Nurse here with more inspiration using the April Technique Junkies Release. If you haven’t stopped by and gotten a peek at all the new releases, I would do so soon as tomorrow is the last day of the 15% discount on the April Release.
For my card I used “Crabby Set of 3 #PS008” over the Goosebumps Double Stencil technique on the Artistic Effects CD. The sprays are Art Anthology “Waimea Bay” and “Warm” over a Simon Says Stamp wave stencil.
This is a great stamp for so many techniques and with the added sentiments, can be a fun and quirky card. Hope you’ll stop by Technique Junkies to pick up some really great supplies!
Enjoy the inspiration using the April release. Happy Stamping!
