Monthly Archives: March 2016
Happy Monday! That means it’s time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge and this week we are celebrating “Just Purple.”
I’d also like to wish my oldest, Dan, a very Happy Birthday today!!
Please make sure your card fits into a standard A2 card without any large lumps or bumps. The challenge will run through Sunday, March 27th and our design team will be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.
For my card I used the My Favorite Things “Beautiful Blooms” card kit from January. I began with FW Pearlescent Fluid Acrylic Paint for my background. It’s got a gorgeous shimmer. I then used the stamp, dies and ink from the kit and finished off with an Altenew sentiment from Oriental Orchid. The card base is cut out with a WPlus9 Die.
I’m looking forward to seeing what you enter for your “Just Purple” cards this week!
Happy Saturday Friends! It’s time for another Send a Smile 4 Kids (SAS4Kids) challenge and the theme for this entry is “For The Boys.” At SAS4Kids, we are so fortunate to have spectacular sponsors for our challenges and this week is no different. I’d also like to mention if you are interested in bringing some joy into the lives of kids who are ill and hospitalized, we’d love for you to send in some of your cards for the kids; here’s how.
Now let’s get on to those great sponsors:
1) Bugaboo: Prize is 7 images of winners choice
2) Crackerbox Palace Prize is 3 images of winners choice
My card today features the Bugaboo image, “Kid Pocket Topper.'” I colored him with Copic Markers and used the My Minds Eye “Adventure” collection. The flag and circle dies are My Favorite Things and the sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp, “Big Hugs” die. I did some faux stitching with my favorite white pen the Uniball Signo White Gel Pen.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and hope you’ll join us over at Send A Smile 4 Kids to enter “For The Boys” challenge. You have until Friday, April 1st to enter.
YEAH – it’s Friday and time for the A Day For Daisies post! For this challenge, we are going back to September 2011 to showcase this sweet kit. We are still accepting entries for our “add pearls” challenges over at the ADFD Blog. You have until Thursday, March 24th at Noon to enter.
For todays card I used the image called, “Hanging Out”. She was a pleasure to color with Copic Markers. The background is a cuttlebug dot folder and my sentiment is Simon Says Stamp.
It’s the third Wednesday of the Month and time for The House That Stamps Built photo inspiration challenge. For March we have a colorful kitty.
As with all our challenges, let the photo be your guide and use your creativity to inspire you. You have until Tuesday, March 22nd to enter for a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate at Repeat Impressions. If you use a Repeat Impressions stamp, you’ll get an extra entry!
Here’s the inspiration chosen by our Rock Stars:
For my card, I used Repeat Impressions stamp “Spring Chick 1311-J” which I stamped with Archival Jet Black Ink to avoid smearing when watercoloring. My colors are Tombow Markers, my newest toy. The sweet sentiment is, “Happy Easter/Spring 3909-F”. For texture, I used a basket We R Memory Keepers folder and finished off with a few gems.
The Crafty Nurse back with some inky inspiration for this wonderful almost spring day! I hope you all get a chance to play a little in your craft room while you enjoy the coming of great weather.
For my card today I went monochromatic using the new March Palettini release “Vintage Butterfly Collection #P035.” The technique today is from the Bodacious Backgrounds CD called, “180 Degree Stamping,” The two inks are Altenew Deep Iris and Lavender Fields. This technique is super easy and creates fabulous depth to your card.
The sentiment is from “Simple Sentiments Set 3a #SS03A” simply stamped and popped up on foam. I added two panels of ribbon by Ellen Hutson and finished off with sequins filled with Stickles (I prefer not to see the holes). I also added a line of Stickles on the edge of the card stock for a little added bling.
Thanks for stopping by the Technique Junkies Blog today and we all wish you lots of creative play today and always.
Bye, Bye for now!!
Hello friends! Happy Monday! I’m here with sketch #143 at From The Heart Stamps. These are great challenges because you can use just the sketch, or if you’d like, add the twist. The only requirement is that you use a From The Heart image and the sketch. The rest is up to you. The twist for this challenge is to use an item from your stash.
I used both the sketch and the twist this week by covering a piece of white paper in Washi tape. My image is the new, “Love You Mouse” which I colored with Copic Markers and cut out with a stitched My Favorite Things flag die. The background is textured with an embossing folder and the scallop die is Lawn Fawn.
Happy Saturday Friends! Today’s new Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp who is offering a very generous $25.00 gift certificate to their store for our random winner. You have until Friday, March 18th for a chance to win.
Here’s the sketch:
For my card I chose the new Art Impressions Watercolor image called “Wooden Gate” to create the arch element in the sketch I designed.
I began with 140lb watercolor paper by Canson and stamped the gate with Tombow Markers using the Art Impressions Watercolor Technique that you can find here. The sentiment is from the Hero Arts “Your So Lovely.” For the background I embossed the We R Memory Keepers “woven” folder to mimic a basket.
It’s Friday and time for more a new post at A Day For Daisies! This week we are beginning a new challenge by adding “pearls” to our projects. The challenge will run through Thursday, March 24th at noon on the A Day For Daisies Blog!
I indulged in some of the new paints by Dylusions and created a journal spread for displaying the beautiful image, “Mermaid Vintage Pink Lingerie.”
I started by coloring her with Copic Markers then began to work on my page by building a base layer with Dylusions Paint followed by more paint put through stencils. I then stamped Technique Junkies “Faint Scratches” followed by “Here We Go Round in Circles” for background noise.
The water is hand painted also using the Dylusions paint with pearls in the middle. I added some stickles in the circles and finished off with a border.
Hello Fellow Junkies!!
The technique used is called, “Background Burst from the Bodacious Background CD.” Instead of using traditional chalks, I used my Pan Pastels. They are so vibrant and easy to apply.
To add dimension, I took a Spellbinders “Glass Effects Die” and alternated popping pieces up and gluing directly to card. To finish off I added stickles around the edge for sparkle and shine.
I hope you are finding some time to get inky today, even if just for a few minutes.
The Crafty Nurse
Happy Wednesday. Today I’m posting some Mid-Week Inspiration for From The Heart Stamps.
My card today is “Lucky Birdbrain Chick”” colored with Copic Markers and cut out with a My Favorite Things square die. The stitched edges die and sentiment are also My Favorite things and the pattern paper is My Minds Eye.
