I hope you are enjoying the holiday release as much as I am. Today I took a stab and creating a watercolor scene with the gorgeous “Christmas Trees” set of 6 stamps just released. I started by masking off the bottom of the watercolor card stock by tearing painters tape and adhering it on an angle. I then applied water and dropped blues, greens, yellows, and grays then allowed that to dry. I like to start light, then build up the colors.
Once the background was created I stamped two of the Christmas Tree stamps using Staz-on Midnight Blue. Using a waterproof ink allows you to go back and add deeper colors. I then removed the tape, applied gray to create snow and stamped the “Joy” sentiment, also in this holiday release. To finish, I added some gems and splattered the top portion of the card with green watercolor.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the holiday stamps, please stop by the Technique Junkies website so you don’t miss the new goodies.
Until the next time,

It’s the third Wednesday of the Month and time for The House That Stamps Built photo inspiration challenge. For September, the design team chose a beautiful scenic sunset photo. As with all our challenges, let the photo be your guide and by all means, use creative license in your card. For example, just pick out a color, a shape, or even use just one element that you are attracted to. It’s all about creativity and fun.
Here’s the inspiration chosen by our Rock Stars:
For my card I created a very loose watercolor background using my Gamsi Kuretake Watercolor paints. I started by stamping and heat embossing with copper the Repeat Impressions stamp, “Oak Leaf Silhouette #5110” then stamped a few extra leaves on more watercolor paper which I cut out, distressed, and applied over the embossed leaves. I chose to interpret the focal image as a butterfly, so I stamped Repeat Impressions “Butterfly (sm) 9110-F” and also watercolored and cut him out. The sentiment, “Love Much 3110-F” is from the Repeat Impressions Words to Live By collection and so inspirational.
I am beyond thrilled to announce that From The Heart Stamps has chosen me as one of their fantastic Design Team Members formally beginning on October 1, 2015. I have had the honor to be a guest designer for this fabulous team on two previous occasions and since then have wanted to join them for a full design team term.
Today, I have made a card featuring the September Stamp of The Month to share for the Wednesday Design Team Inspiration post. I encourage you to participate in the Stamp of the Month challenge as you will receive a free stamp the following month for your participation.
My card today is colored with Copic Markers and distressed with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The image is cut out with a Spellbinders die and the paper pack is from the new fall collection called, “Fall Blessings” by Carta Bella. My leaves are from the new Lawn Fawn dies and the Button dies are My Favorite Things. The element at the top of the card with circles is from a Simon Says Stamp die.
To add some texture to the leaves I distressed and stamped them with the “Giving Thanks” stamp from Simon Says Stamp. I finished the buttons off with distressing and tied a bow with waxed linen and popped them up over the leaves. Finally, the sentiment is also from From The Heart Stamps and inked with distress ink.
I look forward to seeing you over at From The Heart Stamps Community both on the blog and on Facebook. If you’d like to play along in the SOTM challenge with this image and wish to purchase her she can be found here.
