A Day For Daisies: New Release 8-7-15

It’s Friday and time for the new release from A Day For Daisies! WooHoo!  I love new release Friday, Don’t You?

For my Design Team card today, I chose a gorgeous mermaid image called, “Chubby Mermaid Three.”  I just adore Tammy’s mermaids, they are always so special.

I colored this stunning image with Copic Markers and decided to make her a shaker card.  The frame is a My Favorite Things Die stamped with their “Romantic” background stamp in Espresso ink.

To create the background, I applied Y21 and softened with colorless blender.  I then spayed a piece of burlap with 91% Alcohol and applied to image holding down for a count of three, thereby creating texture. My sequins is from Doodlebug’s assorted 12 pack and sealed with some packaging from a stamps set.  I always keep my packaging for techniques and projects that need clear transparency.

Here is a side view of the card so you can see the shaker more clearly.

I hope you’ll stop by and see all the other designers cards showing the new release this week at A Day For Daisies.  Also, the Feathers Challenge is still running through Thursday, August 13th at Noon, so we hope you will stop on by the A Day For Daisies Blog and enter.

Please join us on our Facebook Community Page, we’d love to see your cards there too!

  1. Gorgeous shaker card!!! Love mermaids and this one is so beautiful 🙂 I like how you made the background with the burlap. Very cool idea. Thanks for the inspiration!! ~Sophia

  2. Love your card, chubby mermaid more to my taste. The textured background looks great and didnt even realise it was a shaker card at first. The clear is so well attached its impossible to see. As usual a brilliant colouring job.

  3. beautiful card! And perfectly colored!
Thanks for playing along in the Design Team Showcase.

  4. Fabulous shaker card Kathy. The sequins work perfectly with the beautiful mermaid image. Thank you for joining us at Design Team Showcase for challenge #18. AELx
