It’s the fourth Wednesday of the Month and time for The House That Stamps Built sketch challenge. You have until Tuesday, July 28th to enter for a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate at Repeat Impressions. Feel free to turn the sketch around as long as the basic elements are included you are good to go.
Here’s the Sketch:
For my card today I took a trip to Africa using the Passport Series at Repeat Impressions Stamps. The image I used is called “Chimp 5306-J” which was stamped using Adirondack Espresso ink. I cut him out using the My Favorite Things Stitched square die and distressed the image with Antique Linen while it was still housed in the die to create that white frame.
The paper is from Prima called, “Cartographer.” I did the same treatment of Antique Linen with the My Favorite Things Stitched circle and then sprayed Lindy’s Stamp Gang Spray in for the background for my “Happy Hello-9717-C” sentiment, which I stamped only a portion of. One of the tricks I use to stamp only a part of a stamp is to use scotch tape to cover what you don’t want, then ink up the stamp and remove the tape. That leaves only the portion you want to stamp inked. I finished off the card with some Club Scrap ribbon.
Happy Wednesday Junkies! It’s the Crafty Nurse here back with more beachy fun. We hope you are enjoying your summer and have found some crafty time for yourselves.
Today I am bringing you an oldie but a goodie technique called, “Spritzed Stone Tutorial” originally developed by Kimm Bennington-Thompson in 2009. This technique can be used with any alcohol markers but the important element is the 91% alcohol. This is stronger than your normal rubbing alcohol and can be purchased at the pharmacy. Make sure you are working in a well ventilated area as it’s a bit strong, but I love the outcome.
After creating the background, I stamped the July release Technique Junkie stamps called, “Shells PS009” and coordinating sentiment from the same set. I then layered the “burlap” stencil by Tim Holtz using Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. On top of that I flicked Lindy’s Stamp Gang Spray in “Shabby Turbine Teal” and Heidi Swapp color shine in gold. To finish off I distressed the edges and layered it on coordinating papers.
Thanks so much for stopping by the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog today and make sure you make some time to play!
Signing off for now,
The Crafty Nurse
Hello all. I’m honored to have been chosen as a guest designer for Crafting By Design today for their “Summer Holiday” Challenge. WooHoo!
For my card I chose an image by Faery Ink called, “Gabbie The Mermaid” that is available only to Facebook Group Members as a free image so come on by and check it out! She is colored with Copic Markers and Zig Clean Color Watercolor Markers. The paper is Echo Park’s “Walking on Sunshine” 6 x 6 pad cut out with My Favorite Things dies. The sentiment and embellishment shells are also from My Favorite Things. I finished off the image with some distress ink in Antique Linen and called it summer!
