Monthly Archives: May 2015
It’s the third Wednesday of the Month and time for The House That Stamps Built photo inspiration challenge. For May, the design team chose a gorgeous scenic image with a featured wine glass. As with all our challenges, let the photo be your guide and by all means, use creative license in your card. For my card, I chose not to focus on the wine glass but rather on the scene.
Here’s the inspiration chosen by our Rock Stars:
For my card I’ve used Repeat Impressions stamps, “Large Pine Tree 2719-K and Small Pine Tree 2710-D “ and the sentiment, “Learn 8617-E”. I again broke out my Kuretake Gamsi watercolors and created grass, mountains and sky. I stamped the pine trees and sentiment then flicked the whole card with black paint splatters.
Happy Monday! We are celebrating “Hey Dude” for the Cards in Envy challenge this week. That means we’d love to see cards that showcase boys, men or masculine cards. Please make sure your card is a standard A2 size without any large lumps or bumps.
The challenge will run through Sunday, May 31st. Our design team will also be choosing their favorite cards to feature on the The Cards in Envy blog.
My card features a “Sassy Cheryl Digital Image called, Noah’s Tire Swing.” I colored the image with Copic Markers and used My Mind’s Eye Hattie Papers. I made a frame using a copic multi-liner and used a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle die.
Happy Saturday! Today Send a Smile 4 Kids begins a new Anything Goes Challenge! We have some great prizes being offered by our very generous sponsors for our randomly chosen winner. The design team will also be choosing their favorites and those cards will be featured on the Send a Smile 4 Kids blog.
Our sponsors are:
1) Doodle Pantry: Prize $10.00 Gift Certificate to their store
2) DRS Designs: Prize $10.00 Gift Certificate to their store
3) Kitchen Sink Stamps: Prize 25.00 Gift Certificate to their store
Now, how about a little inspiration to get you going?
My first card uses Doodle Pantry’s Pre-Colored “Lighthouse”. I love the option with Doodle Pantry that you can either use their coloring or do your own. I cut the lighthouse and flag out with a My Favorite Things dies. The rectangle stitched die is Simon Says Stamp and paper collection is Echo Park “Happy Days.” Finally, the sentiment is also My Favorite Things.
My next card uses the DRS Designs stamp, “Buck Bust.” I colored him with my Copic markers making sure to add lots of texture with flicking strokes that weren’t blended in. The paper is from Carta Bella “Warm & Cozy” collection and the sentiment and die are Simon Says Stamp.
I sure hope you will join us at Send a Smile 4 Kids this challenge for a chance to win some great prizes in our Anything Goes Challenge!
Happy Saturday friends. It’s time for a Sketch Saturday challenge and this week we are sponsored by Bunny Zoe Crafts who is offering a 10 pound gift certificate to their online store for our random winner!
The sketch this week is:
Today I’ve used a Tiddly Inks image who sells their products at Bunny Zoe Crafts. I colored her with Copic markers and used Basic Grey’s “Fresh Cut” 6 x 6 paper pad. The rectangle die is Lawn Fawn and the sentiment is from The Craft Spot.
I can’t wait to see what you create!
Happy Thursday Friends. Today I broke out my Dylusions Ink to do some watercoloring to enter my card into the Ellen Mix It Up Challenge. For this challenge Ellen chooses one other company for a combined product challenge. This week it’s Avery Elle.
My card features the “Mondo Magnolia” by Ellen and the Avery Elle “Gift Tag” set. To achieve this look I followed Julie Ebersole’s tutorial from a previous “Hello Monday” called “Magic Watercolor” – Thanks Julie!
Believe it or not, Julie almost scrapped this because she didn’t like how it came out at first but I’m thrilled she persevered. The birthday sentiment is from “Cupcake Party” by Simon Says Stamp.
Happy Wednesday Junkies! The Crafty Nurse here bringing you a post featuring Technique Junkies May Release.
For today’s project I’ve highlighted “What Cancer Cannot Do #SD607.” The background technique is called, “Stenciled Spray Fun” from the Sensational Stencils CD. I used Dylusions Ink to get that vibrant pink and purple combination.
I wanted to highlight the stamp so I inlayed the panel using Lawn Fawn’s rectangle dies making it one flush panel. To do this, simply cut out a few sizes of the rectangle die and piece them back together like a puzzle.
I finished off the card with a few flower dies from WPlus9 and added small pearls for the centers.
By for now,
The Crafty Nurse
It’s the second Wednesday of April and that means it’s time for a Designers Choice Challenge at The House That Stamp Built! Today, Debbie is hosting our challenge and she has chosen “Anything But a Card.”
For my “Anything But a Card” I chose to do an Art Journaling Page. I started with some cheap craft paints in pink, peach and purple and applied it with random strokes. You see some circles, lines, and otherwise haphazard application. I added some white paint and stenciled some darker paint using a sponge. I then stamped Repeat Impressions, “Rose Heart Wreath 101-P” and sentiment from “Hugs & Kisses Stencil 1215-H” in archival black ink so it won’t smear. I colored the image using Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Mica’s and a water brush to give that sparkly feel. To finish off the page I added some pearlized Modeling Cream through a Heidi Swap heart stencil and splattered some black ink spots about the page.
I sure hope you break out your creativity for “Anything But A Card” this week at The House that Stamps Built. Happy Wednesday!
It’s another fun Saturday at The Crafty Nurses’ Blog! I sure hope you are making some time for crafting this weekend. Today, for the next Open-Minded Crafting Challenge we are celebrating weddings and anniversaries. Our challenge runs through Friday, May 22nd and as usual, we have some awesome prizes for our randomly chosen winners.
This week our sponsors are:
For this wedding challenge, Fairy Tangles provided me with a gorgeous digital image called, “Forget Me Not.” She looks like a stunning bride from days gone past. I colored her with Copic Markers and used a few different sizes of Lawn Fawn’s rectangle stitched dies. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted, “Love Quotes”.
I sure hope you come over to the Open-Minded Crafting Wedding and Anniversary Challenge and show us what inspires you!
Happy Saturday! Today’s new Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp who is offering a very generous $25.00 gift certificate to their store for our random winner. You have until Friday, May 15th for a chance to win.
Here’s the sketch:
For my card I chose a celebration stamp from Simon Says Stamp called, “Happy Every Day.” It’s a great set with lots of fun geometric borders and cute sentiments. For the card I broke out my distress inks and water colored with them. I used the Cracked Pistachio, Worn Lipstick, and Scattered Straw.
The paper pack is from American Crafts, the oval die is My Favorite Things, and the scalloped oval is Spellbinders. The vertical stripes are also a die from My Favorite Things.
