The House That Stamps Built; Designer Choice Challenge
It’s the second Wednesday of April and that means it’s time for a Designers Choice Challenge at The House That Stamp Built! I’ll be hosting today and have chosen heat embossing as my muse. Embossing always provides that extra little pop to a card. For my tip today, when you are heat embossing black, rather than use black powder, use black pigment ink, then clear powder. That way you won’t get those stragglers that end up all over your card.
As with our other challenges, we are offering a $25.00 gift certificate to the Repeat Impressions store for our random winner. Don’t forget, if you use a RI stamp, you get an extra entry!
For my card today I used multiple colors from Zing to heat emboss my card. I started by stamping Repeat Impressions, “Star Cluster #2106-G, “Star Large Silhouette #5111-H, and Star Small Silhouette #5140-C” using Versamark ink.
For the embossing, I started at the bottom corner holding my card front at an angle allowing the first powder to flow off. Make sure to leave the top uncovered with powder so you can add additional colors. I then move on to the second color making sure to leave room at the top for the third color. You don’t have to worry about mixing colors because once the embossing ink is covered, it won’t pick up more powder. You will get some mixing as it’s impossible to avoid, but I like the look.
For my sentiment, I added, “Reach For… 3105-E” using black Versafine ink onto Bazzill heavy vellum and heat embossed with clear powder as recommended above. See mom, no stragglers!
I sure hope you enter your heat embossed cards this week at The House that Stamps Built. Happy Wednesday!
