Happy Weekend! It’s time for a new Send a Smile 4 Kids challenge celebrating Mom, or that special female in your life!!! Again, we have some really great sponsors offering prizes to our winners. You have until Friday, April 17th to enter.
I also wanted to remind you that Send a Smile 4 Kids is growing by adding more hospitals and more volunteers to take your donated cards. We hope that after you enter the challenge you consider sending your cards to SAS4Kids for children in need. Check out how.
Now, let’s get on to those sponsors:
1) DeeDee Digi’s – Offering a $15.00 Gift Certificate to Store
2) A Day For Daisies – offering a $12.00 Gift Certificate to Store
3) Stitchy Bear – offering a $6.00 Gift Certificate to Store
Now how about some inspiration? My first card uses DeeDee Digi’s “Cow Are You.” Mom and calf are colored with Copic’s with a spun sugar distress ink background. The rectangle and scalloped dies are Spellbinders and the element on the left is a wood banner I colored using Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Mica’s. The flower is a really old rub on from GinX and the fiber is Close to My Heart. The ribbon band is from Ellen Hutson who sends these with every order. Isn’t that cool?
My next card is from A Day For Daisies called, “Mother I Love You.” I colored mother and child with Copic Markers and used a My Favorite Things circle die to highlight them on. The sentiment is from a Claudine Hellmuth stamp set and the flower die is from My Favorite Things which I stamped with the MFT Romantic background.
Thanks for stopping by and we sure hope you’ll come on over to Send a Smile 4 Kids an play along!
Hello Crafty Friends! I’ve been taking the next Exploring Art Journaling Course by Christine Urias of Scraptime. Christine does a great job and providing some new techniques and combinations for art journaling. Today, instead of using the technique as described with Heavy Body Gesso and Acrylics, I decided to use the Heavy Body Gesso with Lindy’s Stamp Gang products so I can enter my page into the April Color Challenge.
I started the page with a basic layer of gesso then added the heavy body gesso through a stencil and allowed it to dry. I then applied all five of the colors with a paint brush to lay down a background. To get the colors to mix, I sprayed them with a little water.
Lindy’s products are so versatile and I was able to combined sprays, hot shots, and magical mica’s in Pink Lady Pink Flat Fabio Spray, Tilt-a-wheel Teal Hot Shot, Summer Lovin’ Sun Magical Mica, Greased Lightnin’ Green Spray, and Magnolia Magenta Gold Spray.
Then I took all the colors again and splattered them over the entire page. To add depth, I added Staz-on in Ganache with a foam applicator to the top and edges of the page. The sentiment is a stencil from Dina Wakely. I didn’t add any more because I really liked how the stencil popped with that heavy gesso. Great technique Christine!
Happy Saturday! Today’s new Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by Sami Stamps who is offering a generous $12.00 gift certificate to our random winner. Thanks Sami! You have until Friday, April 10th to enter your card for a chance to win.
Here’s the sketch:
For my card I chose Sami’s gorgeous “Purple Pansies” and colored them with Copic Markers. The design paper is from Basic Grey’s “Fresh Cut” collection. The background, circle, rectangle, and flag dies are from My Favorite Things. The flower and sentiment are from Papertrey ink’s “Tiny Tags.” To mimic the background I added white dots with a uniball signo white gel pen.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with using the new Sketch Saturday Sketch!
