Cards in Envy Christmas Carol Challenge!

Oh my, how did it get to be the middle of December already?  It’s time for another Cards in Envy Challenge and we are singing this challenge by making a card that reflects Christmas Carols!  How fun, huh?  Simply make a card that fits into a standard A2 envelope by Sunday, December 28th and you will have a chance to be featured on the Cards in Envy Blog.

For some inspiration I’ve chosen a Our Daily Bread stamp called “O Christmas Tree”.  The background is a watercolor wash over white heat embossing.  Really easy technique.  The “town” edge die is from Memory Box and the tree with bow is from the November’s Simon Says Stamp card kit.  I finished off with a silver foil frame using a Lawn Fawn Stitched Die and a sentiment from Clearly Besotted’s “Ornamental Style”.  Hope we see what you are singing about this week!

Lindy’s Stamp Gang December Color Challenge: Card 2

I spent this lovely Sunday morning playing with my Lindy’s Stamp Gang products.  I used the December color challenge as a starting point to create two different cards that I will post separately for entry purposes.  The Sprays I used were Opal Sea Oats, Tibetan Poppy Teal, and Azure Sea Asters.  The magical Mica’s used were Rizzo’s Rowdy Red and T-Bird Turquoise.   I also used Lindy’s Midnight Teal embossing powder over the heart charm, also from Lindy’s.  The background also has Molding Cream by Viva Decor in pearl used with stencils, some I Am Roses flowers colored with the above colors and some Tim Holtz embellishments and ribbon.  The red hearts are cut from a Simon Says Stamp heart die using grunge paper and colored with Gesso and Rizzo’s Rowdy Red Magical.

12 Tags of 2014: December – Tim Holtz

It’s tag day at the Stacy craft desk!  I’ve finished my December 12 Tags by Tim Holtz making a few substitutions from the original by using the Bigz Reindeer Flight die cut out with grunge paper and covered with distress paint, distress ink and glitter. I also didn’t have any distress spray so I took my distress ink and repurposed it by pulling off the dauber top on the distress stain bottle and putting the stain into a mini mister to make my own distress spray and it worked!  Yeah for me.  The background is faded jeans distress ink mixed with Brushed Pewter distress stain.  I then heat embossed silver Hero Arts shadow ink with clear powder and distressed the edges with walnut stain.  I didn’t have the Holiday Greens thinlits die but did have the Festive Greenery die, also Tim Holtz.  I cut that out using kraft core in green.  I also used brushed sage and brushed pewter to make the light greenery.  The birch trees are an Impression Obsession Die also cut out with Kraft Core.  I threaded tinsel through a red bell for the reindeers collar and stapled some lights.  I cut out “believe” foil paper and adhered the border sticker at the bottom of the tag with multi-medium.  Wish me luck!

Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags with a Feminine Twist

For those of you who don’t know about Ellen Hutson’s Classroom, you are missing a great blog where so much creativity is offered and taught.  Each year Ellen hosts her own version of 12 Tags and asks they have a feminine twist.  I was inspired by Kittie Caracciolo on Day 3.  There was something about the window that caught my eye.  Initially when I created my card I left the window open with no backing, but I didn’t like the look so I created some “wallpaper” from Basic Grey’s “Aspen” collection to frame my pink window which I sprayed with Lindy’s Stamp Gang spray.  The deer is from Ellen’s Essentials and the trees are from Impression Obsessions.  The date is a wood element from KaiserCraft I kindly received as a freebie from Simon Says Stamp in my last order that I sprayed with Tarnished Bronze Distress Spray.  The snowflakes are embossed with white using the My Favorite Things “Christmas Ornaments”.  The red ribbon is another Freebie, but from Ellen Hutson’s store.  I just love the personalized cards she sends with each order.  Thanks Ellen!  The small Poinsettia die is Memory Box and the gold ribbon under the window is from Darice called Sparkle Tape in  Yellow Amarillo.   Thanks for stopping by and checking out my feminine tag!

Operation Write Home Sketch 244 & Our Daily Bread December Challenge

Happy Saturday!  I’ve finished the majority of my Christmas cards and now able to get back to some generalized crafting.  Today I am using Operation Write Home’s Sketch 244 for the December Our Daily Bread challenge that calls for primary colors.  Love cards are always needed at OWH so I used some Lilly Bee design paper and a Paper Smooches sentiment to make this card.  The wood elements are Studio Calico and painted with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Flat Magical’s (non-shimmer).  Each entry in the ODB challenge will help with shipping costs so please join us in this challenge.

Thanks Sponsors!  For inspiration today I have a few images I’d like to share with you.  The first is A Day For Daisies “Snowman Scott”.   I colored Scott with Copic Markers and cut him out using the My Favorite Things Stitched Circle die.  I created the background using the falling snowflake stencil from Simon Says Stamp along with molding paste from dreamweaver.  The sweet little birdie is from Lawn Fawn.  The “snow” sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and the “Merry Christmas” is from Clearly Besotted.

My next card is from Dollar Graphics Depot called “Winter Thyme”.  I love the digi’s from this sponsor as they offer many multiple image packets for only $1.00.  I colored this sweet snowman with Copics and used the Lawn Fawn stitched journal card to give him a place to rest.  The ornaments are from My Favorite Things dies and the Poinsettia is from Memory Box Dies.  Sentiment is from Hero Arts stamps set, “Snow Much Joy”.  Paper is American Crafts “Jolly” collection.

My final card is from Sassy Studio’s called, “Winter Wendy”. I colored her in Copics and used the “Holly Jolly Christmas” from Echo Park.  Oval die is My Favorite Things and sentiment is Simon Says Stamp.

Happy Saturday Friends!  It’s time for some Open-Minded Crafting fun with an “Unusual Christmas” challenge. This can be anything you see or interpret as unusual.  We are, after all, “open-minded”.  Our sponsors have again offered some generous gifts for our randomly chosen winners.  The design team will also choose their favorites and highlight those entries on the Open-Minded Crafting blog.  I sure hope to see your card in the challenge.  You have until Friday, December 19, 2014 to enter.

For inspiration I’ve chosen an image from A & T Digital Designs coloring them with Copics and using Basic Grey 25th & Pine 6 x 6 collection. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.  I thought it a little unusual to see fairies kissing under the mistletoe, but who knows, right, perhaps that’s normal!

Try Stampin’ on Tuesday Challenge #196 – Theme: Peace

Happy Tuesday!  That means it’s time for Try Stampin’ on Tuesday’s Sketch Challenge!  Today we are celebrating the theme of PEACE.  What a wonderful sentiment as we begin the rushed holiday season.  I have been so inspired making this years Christmas cards and I hope you will join us this week using the provided sketch to make one of your holiday cards.  You have until Monday, December 8th to entry.

Ready for some inspiration?

I used a Stampendous stamp and colored this “Jolly Santa” with Copic Markers.  The dies are Lawn Fawn’s stitched frames and Echo Park’s “Holly Jolly” 6 x 6 paper pad.  The peace sentiment from Julie Ebersole at Ellen Hutson was cut out several times with white paper, then once with black glitter paper.  I adhered them all together to make a raised die cut (learned from the great Jennifer McGuire).  I finished off with some enamel dots and white gel pen highlights.  Thanks for stopping by!
