I just love Saturdays when I have the entire day to do what ever I want and those of you who know me know it’s creating. Especially when it’s WORLD CARD MAKING DAY! I’m really enjoying this Simon Says Stamp kit this month. It comes with stamps, dies, embellishments, and some really cool papers. What more could you want? This card uses the scraps from my first 3 cards for the background, a My Favorite Things tag label and the Coffee Cup die. I finished the card with sequins. What do you think?
Today is the OWH Blog hop for Operation Write Home. I wanted to use my October Card kit and we were tasked with making a LOVE card, so I combined the two with OWH Sketch 140. Hope you like it!
The card uses the October Simon Says Stamp October Card kit with the addition of the sentiment from My Favorite Things “Clearly Sentimental about Coffee”. I used the Khaki SSS ink pad and added some Hero Arts ink in Cup-0-Joe, Soft Sand, and Soft Brown. I embossed the heart in the center using Versamark black with clear powder. Enjoy the hop!
Happy Saturday my Friends. Today is my son Matt’s 22nd Birthday. Happy Birthday Son! Just seems like yesterday when he was a little one playing in a cardboard box in our living room and now he is a man off on his own, serving our country as a Marine, and independent. I guess that’s our job as parents, right? Being an empty nester has allowed me more time to craft and in doing so, support some great causes like Send a Smile 4 Kids (SAS4Kids). The great thing about SAS4Kids is their commitment to supporting hospitalized children by providing home-made cards that parents, staff, or even the kids themselves can give during this time of need. It’s not a sad cause, in fact, we don’t focus on Get Well cards at all, but make the cards happy and fun. I sure hope you will join both in our challenge and by sending in some cards, especially during this holiday season. To find out more about donation, look here.
This challenge will run through October 17th and give you a great head start on some holiday card making. This challenge is sponsored by some very generous donors who are giving away some great gifts for the winning entry. The design team also chooses their favorite so there are lots of ways to win.
The donors and prizes are:
1) DRS Designs: Prize: $10.00 Gift Certificate
2) Stitchy Bear: Prize: 3 Digital Images for a total of $10.00

Wow – thank you sponsors, Send a Smile 4 Kids really appreciates your support.
Now, let’s get to some inspiration! My first card is from DRS Designs called “Ralph the Reindeer” I colored Ralph with Copic Markers and used Lawn Fawn’s “Peace, Joy, Love” 6 x 6 paper pack. The hill is created using the curved die from Simon Says Stamp and I made my own glittered icicles by taking a piece of white card stock, covering it with two-sided tape, cut it out using a My Favorite Things icicle die, then applied glitter for a sparkly icicle border. I also used Versamark to stamp snowflakes for a subtle background, mimicking falling snow. The Ice slick Ralph is jumping over is from Lawn Fawn’s “Critters in the Arctic”.
My second card is from Stitchy Bear, specifically designed by Hope Jacare called “Snowman Wreath”. I also colored this with Copic Markers and gave him a yellow highlight. If you look closely at the snow at his feet, I applied Glossy Accents for a shinny surface. The Holiday Cheer die is from Paper Smooches and I cut it out three times and adhered them together to give the sentiment more weight. The paper pack is Authentique “Joyous Tradition”.
