Here is my first card from Day 1 of Online Card Classes – Stretch Your Stamps 2 – Backgrounds. The background stamp is from Hero Arts “Sweet Threads – Antique” and made using distress inks as shown by Shari Caroll. You can’t really tell, but I sprayed with Pearlized water so in real life, it shimmers. I changed the original card idea around into a fall version and am thrilled with how it came out. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamps, label is Tim Holtz die, and the great leaves are die cuts from Impression Obsession which took me forever to get last year and I’m glad I did. Oh do I love me some Online Card Classes!
I made a second card so I decided to add to this post.
I was so thrilled to be asked to be a part of the Cards in Envy Design Team! This is a challenge blog that supports a card only challenge with the requirement that every card must fit into an envelope, hence, cards in “envy”. The reason for this type of a card is so they can be donated to Operation Write Home, an organization that supports our service men and women by sending them blank, homemade cards to send back home to their loved ones. As a donator to OWH for several years, I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of Sandy’s team at Cards in Envy (CIE).
My first card for inspiration uses a watercolor and tissue paper technique found at the Technique Junkies. This is perfect for a “ocean” type theme. I cut it out using the new frame dies from My Favorite Things. The digital image is called “Lexie’s Beach Ball” by Chrissy Armstrong found on Whimsy Stamps. The sentiment is My Favorite Things and wavy to simulate the breeze of a summers day. I chalked the clouds and used the pointillism technique for the beach.
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement and I really hope to see you over at Cards in Envy . You’ve got until August 17, 2014, so let’s go make some “Toes in the Sand” cards!
