Here is card two for August Simon Says Stamp kit using Seize the Sketch #25. I used the watercolor paper in the kit to stamp the ice cream images with black versafine, embossed it with clear powder, then colored with distress markers and inks. I did cut apart the stamped sentiment and left off the last few words “and that’s a lot”, as it just didn’t fit my card.
I’m absolutely thrilled to announce my addition as a new Design Team Member to the Send a Smile 4 Kids Design Team! WooHoo. This is a fantastic group of ladies, lead by Karen Hasheck. Some reasons I love this site is it is both a challenge blog as well as a card donation program that sends cards to kids (from 1 to 19) who are hospitalized. I’d love for you to drop by the site and check out the way to donate some of your extra cards to cheer up some hospitalized kids and teens. For directions on how to donate, please visit SAS4kids site.
In celebration, I’ve prepared a card that would be a great example of the type of cards Send a Smile 4 Kids is looking for. The stamps are from the new Mama Elephant set called “In My Heart”, which I colored using Copic Markers. If you look closely at the white circles, I used one of my dies to create an embossed image using a die cut. To do that, you simply put a silicone matt in your cutting sandwich and instead of cutting, you will emboss. I do make sure my die is facing upward so that less pressure is created. The papers and envelope for this card is from the July Simon Says Stamp kit. I look forward to bringing you all some fun inspiration that will cheer up the hearts and minds of those children who are currently hospitalized.
My first Design Team Challenge will be up on August 2, 2014, so I really hope you will join me then and support Send a Smile 4 Kids!
Here is my first August Simon Says Stamp Card Kit card. I used a technique from Online Card Classes, called Layered Window. If you haven’t taken an Online Card Class from Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner, check it out. This weekend all classes are $5.00 off and they are really reasonable without the discount. I have taken all of them and have to say I have never been disappointed.
For my card, I used watercolor paper and embossed the ice cream with white, then colored with distress markers and inks in Squeezed Lemonade, scattered straw, and spiced marmalade. I also embossed the sentiment from the kit and put a heart on the sentiment, which is one of the dies from the kit.
