This card challenge was to use something “faux”, like stitching, brick, or wood. Sandy Allnock provided another technique called Faux Chalk with Copics. You can find the video here. Essentially, you take a stencil, color around the edges with copics and then with a damp cloth of colorless blender fluid, slowing brush the ink from the edges toward the middle and TADA!. Stencil used is from Club Scrap. The paper is lawn fawn, gems are hero arts, and sentiment is WPlus9.
This challenge for Operation Write Home used the Sketch from My Favorite Things for the requested “Teen Card”. This was a great sketch to use for a teen girl. I used Amy Tangerine’s Plus One. I love this paper pack for teens. The sentiment and headset is from My Favorite Things “Rock On” stamp set.
Just finished my July Tim Holtz tag for 12 tags of 2014. This one was really fun as we made our own sand. I didn’t have the Antique Linen Glitter so I made my own with the clear dry glitter and antique linen reinker. You can make all the colors of distress glitter by adding a few drops of the reinker. The shards aren’t as big, but at least you can have lots of colors. To make sand, mix UTEE, glitter, distress embossing powder in Frayed Burlap and Black soot, then add glossy accepts to moisten. Apply glossing accents to the surface, then press sand into it and let dry. The sea horses were also really fun to make. All the directions are on Tim’s blog and he even gives a 10 percent discount for supplies. Now go and have some fun!
The weekend is over but I have another day off so I thought I’d try to finish the cards for the Virtual Card Making Party. This card challenge calls for a love card using a “furry creature”. I used this adorable Doodlebug digital image that is a sponsor image for OWH. Isn’t he cute? I colored him with copics and used Amy Tangerine’s “Ready, Set, Go” 6 x 6 paper pack. The sentiment is cut with Hero Arts (LOVE) & Simon Says Stamp Dies (You). I added puppy paws from Paper Smooches set ” Woofers & Teeters”.
