Today I used Inktense pencils to create an Ombre effect by simply laying down the dry pencil in color gradients then adding water. Once it was heats set, I used the Molotow Acrylic Markers to doodle. I’m halfway through the class and am having a blast.
Today we used the technique of acrylic resist. I’ve done this on cards, but not on a journaling page. For some reason, it didn’t really show up. You can see a vague outline of some writing, but can’t make any of it out. I chose the song Somewhere Over The Rainbow, which I sung to the boys when they were babes.
Today’s page was a study in using one color highlighted with white to make different gradients of the same color. The journaling prompt was what is your weather today?
This technique was very fun. Spray some Dylusions Ink on a transparency, I used one color at a time to build up a nice layer. Then transfer one by one onto journal and dry in between to avoid mud. Again, the only downside to using Dylusions is that it runs when hit with water or any other medium such as matte or gel. Give it a try – FUN!
Shhhhhh – Don’t tell Bob I’m not packing….. Today is Day 12 of Exploring Art Journaling 3 using a photo for color inspiration and what Spring means to me for a journaling prompt. I also used some of the collage sheets I painted for the flowers and then used the Molotow Acrylic Markers on top. Now I learned that when you use Distress Markers, then top with multi-medium, it smears all to heck! Still looks okay – but good to learn.
Day 11 was supposed to use Stabilo Pencils, however, I didn’t have those so I used Inktense Pencils instead. Once they are colored on the page, then a wet paint brush activates the bright color. The Journaling prompt was 5 things we accomplished this year. The background is Gelatos mixed with Claudine Hellmuth white paint and softened with a baby wipe.
Who’s up for a neon trip???? Can’t say this is my favorite page, but it sure was fun to do. Today we learned about embossing powders on our pages. The crackle background is cool, but the paisley’s are a bit much! Oh well. On to another day.
Today we were supposed to do monoprinting of pearlized paints. I decided rather than monoprint, I would draw directly on my page with some Adirondack Dimensional Pearl Paint that’s been in my stash for years. The theme was “things about my day”. All-in-all – I like it!
